i still remember this match vividly even after 21 years....what classic performance from legends dravid & ponting !!! one of the best innings by an indian overseas...
Thank you Cricket Australia. I saw the entire video, and i literally felt i am seeing this live with my Dad back in 2003 early morning since 5am. I can also remember few lines from this commentary too. Life is nothing but a precious box of memories!
With a lead of around 210 and 5 wickets left with around 20 overs left in day 4, Australia were firm favourites to push for the win, worst case for them would be draw. But the dramatic collapse at the end of day 4 brought about by Kumble and Agarkar turned the game on its head and we became favourites to win. This will remain as one of the special come from behind, away victories for India. Adelaide 2003, Gabba 2021, Lords 2021 - 3 away test matches of 21st century which will remain special for India for turning it around from a losing position to winning the game ❤

@@jiteshkumar3774What Warne and McGrath would have done, had they been in the playing 11, doesn't matter here, as the sports in general doesn't go by ifs and buts. If we talk about what Warne and McGrath could have done in Adelaide in the month of December 2003, that will belittle this magnificent partnership between Jammy and VVS. And talking about Warne and McGrath, they were in playing 11 during the Ashes 2006/07, when England managed to put up a total well excess of 500 in the same Adelaide and still managed to lose the game.
I was hearing the commentary. Tony Greig was saying "It's 9 required for India and 4-5 wickets for Australia. Game on and anyone can win". Such was the time, When Aussies were so invincible and our team was so fragile esp down the order that even one cannot take a sigh of breath until final runs not scored. At that time winning a test in Australia was such a huge thing as India won in Australia after 22 years. At that time certain Indian players (Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman and Sehwag) had a reputation but as a unit India wasn't up to the mark. In other words the Indian team had a reputation like any other Subcontinent team (or probably lesser among Subcontinent teams as we didn't have some magical bowlers in our rank which can put up an impression). Also the Indian team didn't have that Aura in it to intimidate Australia esp in their shores. Fast forward to 2024, and Indian players are like Superstars (both in terms of reputation and performance). This hype for Australia Vs India BGT was such that Australian media started preparation for this marquee series months ago. There are videos, articles, interviews etc done months before the first ball was bowled in Perth. In other words Australia vs India (or either way) is the new marquee series which the whole world is talking about. Credit must go to BCCI, Indian domestic circuits, IPL, players like Virat Kohli etc for developing a certain kind of culture where India is not just a team travelling Australia but a force to reckon with. IPL has made sure that young Indian talent gets the kind of exposure needed to play at the highest level. Gone are the days when Sameer Dighe (backup WK batter) landed in Australia with preparation against medium pacers like Jatin Paranjape on docile Indian wickets where the ball didn't carry over the knee. Fast forward to Gabba where he was facing Brett Lee (fearsome fast bowler of his time). Quite clearly this was a situation which is way over the pay grade of Dighe. Fast forward to 2024 when Yashasvi Jaiswal of India smashing Mitchell Starc (who bowls almost the same pace as Brett Lee) all over the ground on Bouncy track of Perth. Not to mention also sledging him "You are not bowling fast enough", shows how much Indian cricket has come from that Sameer Dighe incident. And IPL should be given it's due credit for this.

How many know Ajit Agarksr was less than 55kg. He used to be brilliant in 1st spell but then he would struggle with line and length as he would start to tire out. Imagine what he could have done with right personal coaches and fitness regime that current players have these days.
I was just 14 when I saw this live on tv ..loved the video.. luckily we have seen the struggle and success throughout all these years.. cheers to the ind vs aus tests in australia..
Once Haydos said if you want to see what real aggression is just look into Dravid’s eyes and it couldn’t be more true.. just look at the focus and grit in his eyes in that last boundary shot 🫡
Nah, umpire's call on whether it hit him in line of off stump. Even if it wasn't, David Shepherd was probably the most fair umpire through the 90s and early 00s. Human umpires make mistakes. It was just a part of the sport back then.
@28:35 Simon Katich was caught by Sehwag, but both the commentators got it wrong and dedicated that catch to Chopra. Even the broadcasting team showed it wrong, which got corrected at the end of the innings.😊
Great great great upload. Thanks a lot Aussie cric board for this. But please please kindly upload the sydney test match of this series in similar way. I've always heard about Sachin's 241 but would like to watch it for once. So please please
Wow, Mathew Hayden averaged 58 after 48 tests but ended up with 50. Same with smith, he is also going towards 50 it seems. Ponting also went from 60 to 51. People are saying Bumrah is greater ever because he averaging 20 after 41 tests. He plays long enough, his average will also go down or maybe it won't but we can't call him the greatest right now. Donald went below 20 and finished 22.
The dravid and laxman played very resolutely But that is something missing in today's era. The way India batted in Adelaide is disaster. 180-all out on first day , no one has stepped into the breach. Afte massive perth win, india looked complacent.... Still 4 days to go... ✌️
This Indian team was full of gentleman who knew how to behave and were top notch players. Compare this to the Indian players today, overpaid show boating moaners. With the exception of Bumrah.
Do you have anything new coming up on Cricket Gold? Maybe some 80s stuff? 80-81 vs India or 81-82 and 88-89 vs West Indies? You've been playing mostly BBL01, 1991-92 and WCC ad nauseum for 12 months. New content every month or so would be great.
Quality is in HD, though? And they can only work with what they have. They would have edited using the live TV material. Bit rich coming from someone from Asia though. None of the boards post highlights of current days play, let alone classic content.
