I do think the stage breaks are problematic. I think maybe stage points without the yellow flags would solve a lot of that problem.
But the fuel saving or running half throttle at Daytona, Atlanta, and Talladega isn't due to stage breaks, it's due to the restrictor plate used at those tracks bunching up all the cars. People drive more conservatively in the first 80% or 90% of the race because they know there's a 98.43% chance that there will be a wreck, and that that wreck will collect at least 30% of the field. So there's no logical reason to race hard in the first 80% of a 400/500 mile race unless you're extremely (like 96.88% sure) that you'll consistently be in the top 5 because hard racing outside the top 5 just increases the chance you'll be in that big wreck, and that chance is already fairly high.
If NASCAR wants to eliminate that problem, then they need to lower the horsepower at those tracks and ditch the restrictior plate so that racing there better emulates the more spread out racing at other tracks.

Course Dale would always be Dale but he spoke truth not complaining or crying about things. I've noticed since Kyle signed with RCR he's changed A LOT. No more crying or bitching about things every week. The attitude after races or crashes has changed and I've seen this man smile and laugh more sine joining RCR then I have his entire career. And he just answers questions, nothing more and speaks the truth. Sound familiar? I was NEVER a fan of him but since he's joined RCR he's kinda growing on me since he seems to be a new Kyle, which is great cause he seems to be having more fun then he ever did with Gibbs!

Nascar needs to scrap everything they’ve done with their points system. Ditch the stage racing and return to the simple system they ran forever. It encouraged competition.
When every position matters, when every lap on the track matters. Teams have a reason to fix their broken cars and get them back on the racetrack. These days they take the car back to the garage the second anything breaks.
I fondly remember watching Mark Martin’s team piece back together his ride years ago so he could get back on the track and finish the race. That kind of racing doesn’t really happen anymore.

Great idea use rental cars for racing so we can find out which auto maker makes the best car. Because we know they won't make it a full 500 mile race we'll shorten them to 300 miles to shorten up race time. Maybe tickes will be affordable and a whole lot more enjoyable to watch as well.

People have to stop watching sporting events live. Do you know that DVR records it and you can fast forward through all the commercials and non-sense so you don't have to sit through the boring parts. I do it. I'll wait until the event is done and spend 45 minutes of my day watching it, instead of wasting 6 hours of my time.

Well said Kyle! Denny said the same, ludicrously slow and it wasn't racing for huge chunks of the race.
An awful race, poor finish, pointless stages.
Compulsory stops of 3.5sec or 6sec for fuel stops the fuel shenanigans. We cannot have cruising around at 25% throttle for 85% of race, poor show and makes it more dangerous and more big one's when its a 15lap stage shoot out and a 40 lap finish after cruising round stuck in a line.

Nascar racing has morphed to keeping as many cars on the lead lap as possible. What kyle said about just riding in place speaks to that. Many years ago competitive cars were put a lap down under racing. For whatever reason. Today, drivers have little fear of being lapped so long as they are still competitive (barring a flat tire etc).

NASCAR has struggled to find idenity since Bill and Bill Jr. France France passed it on to the jokers that run it now.Everyone wears suits, not jeans and t shirts, factory built car, laser inspection, car of tomorrow,no real imagination left with these cars,it is a business I understand. But when you take a well oiled sport and change it ,then you have a mess and now they'vespent 20 years trying to make it more than it is.Let the teams build the racecar, let the teams do their thing, come to the track, and race, don't need country singers, don't need anything but racing. Not to mention these charters, everyone, has to be a multimillionaire, impossible to build a racecar and go NASCAR racing for the regular joe, stage racing,g.w.c.Hate to be debby downer but damn, look at what it was and now what it is.

I understand the drivers and teams change as time goes on, buy when they change all the core rules, race formats, points system and everything else it just isn't relatable to anything in the past.
All the stick and ball sports have remained the same with the exception of minor rules and equipment changes over the years.
What nascar has done would be like baseball changing the number of outs to end an inning. Going to aluminum bats, changing the distance between the bases, changing the size of ball , etc etc.
Also somehow social media has corrupted the drivers and fan base to where everyone is extremely negative towards each other these days

The best superspeedway race I can remember in recent history was the rain shortened (new)Atlanta one last year. There were crazy moves left and right lap after lap...sure was action packed when driving under the threat of rain. The obvious solution is to invent and place rain making machines around the track vicinity and start them up at some point after they get 50% of the race in. There's your 2025 gimmick, NASCAR. Funny how every driver complains about it, but they all did it. If a group would have went for it and left the others behind, things may have played out in their favor. Also I think stage cautions need to go away everywhere, not just on speedways. Known cautions create strategies like this. What happened to the good ol days when your teammate would just spin on purpose or you would throw roll bar padding out the window when you needed a caution.

Restrictor Plate Racing suxx too. Almost every other form of racing has engine rules, but allows teams / racers to make as much power as possible within those rules. Having more power than you can safely put to the ground separates the highly skilled drivers from the coattail riders just hanging around, hoping to avoid wrecks and counting on the happenstance of catching the right breaks and being in the right place at the right time.

NASCAR used to give points for leading laps and the most laps, they need to go back to that and then maybe offer an additional 5 points for whoever leads a random lap that is drawn every week. Start motivating the drivers with points again.

Give them all the same engine trans rear end and that way it’s on the driver and crew to who best sets the car up and has the luck on their side. Strip them out but make them use what we use! That and just let them go if they can build a car that’s safe and can go 230mph let them the track would be the limiting factor then for speed!

One of the worst things are the cautions. A car spins, does not hit anything and drives away. They throw a caution flag and they run around for 6 or 7 laps every time. Why not have a quick caution if needed for 1 or 2 laps and back to green. Also why can the trucks and xfinity cars bounce off the wall and they don’t throw a caution but a cup car driver farts in the car and they throw a caution.
