The only way this will ever get better , is if they round up say 50 of these people at a time, and FORCED them to get clean. I doubt if thats even possible.
They should all be offered a one way ticket to the great high in the sky and the dealers should be made to consume all of whatever they are caught with.
For those of you not in America, this is about 0.01% of the population. Yes it is horrible and is probably in every state but America is 99.98% beautiful. All we can do is hope and pray they want to get help.
You’re right. Many of the people in these videos on Kensington Ave. don’t want help and therefore they don’t seek it. Some of them are too far gone and are beyond help - I hate to say that but its the truth.
Just because they're selling doesn't mean you have to buy it. Put the responsibility on the person buying it from them. They have to be accountable for their actions

For viewers from other countries, this is not how most of Philadelphia looks. I live in the city... actually not too fair from this. Totally different world where I am.
Unfortunately, bc of these YT videos the whole world thinks ALL of America is like THIS.. I see SO many comments on how America is crumbling..yada yada... If they would do a little research it would be easy to see where the " problem" lies...you would not see this ANYWHERE in my town bc we have strict drug laws and law and order..AND respect for our LEOS.
@@lorrie5881 As a Canadian, I know the homeless and druggies cling to certain sections of towns. They do this also here in Montreal. I know America is very beautiful in most of the country, it's the sections the homeless choose that becomes like these vids. God bless your country and mine.
@@lorrie5881 That's for sure and America has over 4 million miles of streets and roads and less than 2000 miles of streets and roads in the entire country have these homeless drug addicts lounging around on the public sidewalks. Philadelphia has some great neighborhoods just a mile or so away from Kensington such as Chestnut Hill.
Kingsington is like watching a horror movie. They locked up a lot of the dealers, confiscated a lot of drugs and fire arms about a month or so ago but the dealers have friends and family still out there taking over for them so it still continues regardless if they're in jail or out. Just because they're selling doesn't mean you have to buy it. Put the responsibility on the one who's going to them buying the drugs. I hope eventually one day they'll get this part of Philly together. I'm embarrassed because I was born and raised in Philly. I'm not from this side of town thank God because I wouldn't be able to live there. I can't imagine raising kids in this environment. Kids have to see this everyday going back and forth to school. They can't go to the store without having to see this and having to step over the addicts on the steps or by the door of the store. I feel bad for the kids. This isn't what they need to be forced to see this every single day. That don't deserve to be born and raised in a neighborhood infested with drug dealers and addicts everywhere you turn. This has to come to an end. I genuinely hope they get this part of town together one day and make it into a better more clean and visually better section of the city 🙏🏼
Exactly. I can't even imagine the people who have owned homes in that area, and tried to raise their kids there. How do you even begin to explain that mess. I have a place down in Queen Village, and occasionally they'll do a sweep of Kensington and a bunch of those folks somehow make it to us. Crime goes up every time. They try to set up tents over on the Delaware River Trail until the River Authority and the private land holders run them off. It's just never ending and I don't know how you fix it. And I think it's beyond the scope of whatever Mayor/DA/political party, etc runs the city at this point. The problem is too big.
First you need to educate people, you need too house and provide jobs and positive things for your citizens too do, the blame goes on the system and who’s profiting from this situation perpetuating….

It used to be a mix of pretty much everyone, working class/low income, very diverse. Those that can have sold and moved out. You can see from all the vids that plenty of stuff has been abandoned. What's crazy is that just a couple of blocks over is super trendy $$$ Fishtown. Also, in spite of what the youtubers who make these videos want you to think, the physical area of Kensington is not that big.
What surprises me is the number of businesses shut down and how filthy the streets are Should detain all the vagrants put them in the watch house and only release them into the custody of an organisation that can treat them Keep them safe keep them clean and clean up their environment

there is nothing that can be done -- its not a crime to be homeless -it costs too much money to get these people off the street and into rehab to detox from the drugs -- who is going to pay for room/board, etc for 30, 60, 90 days or so? you? no one -- most of these people have no family -- and even if they got detox -- where are they going to find a place to live w/o suitable employment that covers rent, etc ? so where does that come from ? no place - there are just not enough jobs to help all these people -- many are much older w/o skills and employers are not going to hire someone who has no residency -- these people should have foodstamps to be able to eat -- where is that ? they want money for drugs -- do not give it to them -- buy them essentials -- food -- if they need money -- well - that is an issue --
Short of bulldozing that entire area (which they tried a few years ago on the train tracks), I'm not sure. Cops hands are tied. I don't really understand the politics of it tbh. But it's a mess and City Hall knows it. Let's see what this new Mayor is able to pull off when she gets started.
They should have compassion for themselves and quit doing drugs . They made the choice to get addicted to drugs, they can make the choice to stop doing drugs, it is just a matter of will power and determination.

Kingsington is like watching a horror movie. They locked up a lot of the dealers, confiscated a lot of drugs and fire arms about a month or so ago but the dealers have friends and family still out there taking over for them so it still continues regardless if they're in jail or out. Just because they're selling doesn't mean you have to buy it. Put the responsibility on the one who's going to them buying the drugs. I hope eventually one day they'll get this part of Philly together. I'm embarrassed because I was born and raised in Philly. I'm not from this side of town thank God because I wouldn't be able to live there. I can't imagine raising kids in this environment. Kids have to see this everyday going back and forth to school. They can't go to the store without having to see this and having to step over the addicts on the steps or by the door of the store. I feel bad for the kids. This isn't what they need to be forced to see this every single day. That don't deserve to be born and raised in a neighborhood infested with drug dealers and addicts everywhere you turn. This has to come to an end. I genuinely hope they get this part of town together one day and make it into a better more clean and visually better section of the city 🙏🏼
Exactly. I can't even imagine the people who have owned homes in that area, and tried to raise their kids there. How do you even begin to explain that mess. I have a place down in Queen Village, and occasionally they'll do a sweep of Kensington and a bunch of those folks somehow make it to us. Crime goes up every time. They try to set up tents over on the Delaware River Trail until the River Authority and the private land holders run them off. It's just never ending and I don't know how you fix it. And I think it's beyond the scope of whatever Mayor/DA/political party, etc runs the city at this point. The problem is too big.

there is nothing that can be done -- its not a crime to be homeless -it costs too much money to get these people off the street and into rehab to detox from the drugs -- who is going to pay for room/board, etc for 30, 60, 90 days or so? you? no one -- most of these people have no family -- and even if they got detox -- where are they going to find a place to live w/o suitable employment that covers rent, etc ? so where does that come from ? no place - there are just not enough jobs to help all these people -- many are much older w/o skills and employers are not going to hire someone who has no residency -- these people should have foodstamps to be able to eat -- where is that ? they want money for drugs -- do not give it to them -- buy them essentials -- food -- if they need money -- well - that is an issue --
