A hunter's work is never done.
Returning to the dark streets of Bloodborne, my new single "Outside" captures the tragic plight of Gilbert, the man in the window. Isolated in his room due to his sickness, he slowly feels his body transforming and his mind becoming weak. In his last days, a lone hunter arrives at his window to give him hope that maybe at last the nightmare will end.
This single comes from my upcoming album, "Dreams of the Deep" arriving on February 19th. More fantasy and sci-fi songs are on the way! The original teased release date for the album was December 2020, but that proved to be unreachable. Ignore the Bandcamp teaser (whoops)!

I would always think during my play throughs, that Gilbert must have been a hunter at some point. He says a sickness bought him to Yharnham like you, and that he’s a fellow outsider like you. He says “Their strange blood bought me time...”, plus he knows the ins and outs of Yharnham very well and then he gives you the flamesprayer which is a Powder Keg weapon. And they used those weapons to burn old Yharnham.
Then Gilbert turns into a beast like the ones in Old Yharnham.
So I always thought Gilbert might have been a powder keg.
I also think it leads that way, the description of his flamesprayer implies much despite him saying he made no use of it.
That makes a lot of sense actually, he gets infected and turned after inhaling the burned victims.
I appreciate the dread and desperation in this song, Gilbert communicating the horrors of the plague as he pleads to be let outside one last time before he's not himself ever again.

This song is not about Gilbert, he wasn’t from Yharnam and the person singing this calls this city his „home town”

As sad and heart-wrenching as this is, I'm so happy my boy Gilbert is getting some respect.
The first time I had to kill him, I legitimately cried, and every time after I had to stop my play session to recoup.

He was the one providing me the Flamesprayer for my Arcane build, a true companion and Bloodborns version of Solaire. I tiny light in the night.

This whole song is just masterfully crafted. Some small details I really wanted to point out:
1:00 is when we hear a woman's voice begin in the background, Gilbert is losing himself, he's becoming more scared.
1:10 the voice stops as he begins to focus his thoughts on who could've caused this
1:12 the voice comes back at the mention of blood, like he's on the grasp of understanding what may be going on
1:22 the voice goes away again and we get a guitar rift, which I think is like the "beastly idiocy" taking over for a moment, he's coughing and the sickness is getting to him
2:45 again as Gilbert gets scared the woman's voice in the background climbs, he focuses his thoughts on someone being at the door and the voice goes away
I could just be over analyzing this song but with how the song plays out I can't help but think that this song beautifully captures how a lot of the characters felt during the whole thing, being on the cusp of having enough insight to know what is going on, losing yourself and slowly turning into a beast as the world around you falls apart. It all is captured so beautifully.
I 100% agree that the guitar is his encroaching beasthood. It has that brutal and "wrong" feeling. Don't get me wrong, it's badass and fits perfectly, but at the same time it's completely unexpected and sudden, just like all the transformations we see in game.

This man is amazing.
He made a 7 minute long song based off of about 7 lines of dialogue from an unimportant npc.
And it manages to be extremely relatable to a lot of people.

My favorite line in this whole song:
"Someone's there, someone's there, night is coming and I'm scared".
It feels so genuine and honest, like he's just moments away from his fate and all the verbose writing just gives away to his insecurities. Under it all, he's terrified of what will happen to him.
I totally agree, it's such a good line!
I kind of reminds of Oppy's "My battery is low and it's getting dark."

This. Fucking. Man. He makes a song about a game nearly a decade old, and ties it flawlessly into the feelings of every person in modern times, dealing with a very different, yet very real, plague.
And on top of that, it is just...so. Damn. Good!
Even if this song didn't reach into the memories of all of us that played Bloodbourne, even if it did not tap into the memories of everyone that has had to deal with the Covid pandemic, this song would still be a haunting, brilliant piece of work.
TL:DR; Song is great. Listen, share, admire.

@@ryansavering4115 that guy thought hes ok. he knew hes gona die but he was happy he will die human. then it came. he realized its worse than that. he found out that the beast plague is much worse. he wasnt scared of death. he was scared of what will become of him and how will thw world go when the beast plague started to spread so fast. and then he turned. we had a option we will come back and kill him so he didnt have to be in this state.

Gilbert is one of my favorite characters in Bloodborne. Every time I hear the line "starving wolves outside are howling and I join them in their prayer", my heart just sinks ;-;

It really just... makes me think of how many people have died in this pandemic with this same sort of wish, and having died with it unfulfilled. Slowly suffocating in a hospital room, kept isolated from even your family, unable to see the sky one last time as you die. Damn. What a perfect time to release this song.
Gilbert being locked up had a point, the people dying of "covid" in hospital rooms died for nothing because there wasn't anything to actually stop it, on top of usually dying of other diseases or, usually, being obscenely fat and dying from problems related to obesity. Or old age. Except in New York, Cuomo just turned retirement homes into quarantine camps because he refused to use the medical aid ship Trump sent up there because it was politically correct to ignore him helping people.

as for the character in question, like most soulsborne its a sad depressing story that ends in bloodshed and betrayal at the 'hero's' hands... reminds me of our friend back in firelink so so long ago...
I wouldn't consider it betrayal: The Hunter can't do anything about Gilbert's change, nor did he expect us to.

@@brayachdragonbane7529 Solaire had no way of controlling himself after the Hypno Bug latched onto his head. And yes, you can prevent the 'Betrayal' from happening by finding a shortcut and killing the bug first.
And Seigmeyer never betrays you. But once he had fulfuiled his duty to put Yhorm the Giant to rest, he could not help you anymore.

And I join them in their prayer" chills all over my body! What the?! This is so... wow. All the melody gave me goosebumps but that part... So sad that Gilbert is a character with a lot of cut content. If I don't recall wrong, in the game there are actually the data of his face, but we can't see him and inside of the building there is no one, even though, if we hit the window or the door, we can see hp going down, like everyone else. Gilbert is like the "oscar" of this game and the community likes him a lot.
Back to the song, this is awesome and I will listen to it until I get sick of it (that's actually kinda impossible)

There is so much double entendre with bloodborne and coronavirus, it's uncanny. The whole song gave me goosebumps - Tyler is so goddamn talented and i cannot wait for his new album to release.

This was absolutely influenced by quarantine, some of the lines just hit too close to the feeling. I wouldn’t be surprised if the feeling of quarantine is what made him start thinking of how the npcs like Gilbert felt.
You know, I started into Aviators with Godhunter.... and damn if it didnt spiral out of control from there. Each of their songs hits like a kick in the gut, but out of everything, i think this is one of my favorites
