Im about done with academy, and my recruiter told me OTR reefer was where the money was at. I don't mind being out on the road for 3-4 weeks and being home 3-4 days, but I also heard that dedicated accounts like Walmart are also really good because its consistent and you aren't stuck waiting for drive leader to set you up with loads. Any input on that? Have you done OTR? Reefer only pays 1cpm more than dry van, but is it worth the hassel of the additional time and headache?
I don't know if you're seeing this, but I'm thinking about doing the Swift academy. Charlotte is 100 mi away from me, and I don't know of any other training locations closer to Asheville, but I can do Uber over there because Uber is really busy in Charlotte. I think training is Monday through Friday anyway. I'm honestly waiting on a call back from my local Ingles, since their distribution center is right around the corner for me, and I can get trained with them. But Swift is my next choice.

Swift doesn't mind you using a go pro on your head and talking to it while driving? They don't consider that distracted driving? And did you ask/talk to them about the filming? Appreciate it. You can call placement it really depends on where you live but at the same time you can get on a regional or dedicated even if your not living in the area

After looking into swift today I think I’ve changed my mind.. it really seems like it’s completely your own choice to do otr, regional, dedicated or local?? Is that correct? Do you know what home time usually looks like for regional?
I work for a company I do team with a friend and we run a like from Columbus to Dallas and then to La then back to Dallas and Columbus we are out 4 days and home 3 days but we are hustling no time for shit and Have to drive 75 takes Like a day to get to Dallas and a day and half to La but there is always delays so it takes 4 days but I think otr is better about to switch because you never have time to rest

I make about 50k a year not driving, but work is drying up and I'm thinking about making the jump. I dont really want to do it for the same pay but with little to no home time. If I am to go otr and be away from my fam for weeks at a time, I want to make a substantial increase in income.
Dedicated 100% you can really maximize your time when you know where your going everyday. It isn't as fun as OTR but pays more depending on what accounts are near you and can possibly get you home weekly

I just got done with my mentor got a load last night truck broke down got it back to the yard in Phoenix and then got a plane ticket home and go to salt lake next week and get a newer truck
I know this comment is a year old, but for anyone poking around: top gun is a training program that selects the top 1-2 % of academy students for an additional week of training which will focus on advanced backing maneuvers. During that time the student becomes a full time employee, and will be getting paid. They will sleep in the sleeper of a truck right there at the terminal and also train on a simulator. The whole point is to take the best students and then train them more on backing to greatly reduce risk of accidents while backing. This also cuts the students mentorship time in half.

I was going to start at CR England Monday found out I had a driving on a suspended license they denied me last minute as the bus was showing up. It'll be over 3 years old in September.will swift hire me??
They really check your 5 year MVD. Personally I had my license suspended 4 times but they were all from before 2017 so they didn’t care. Never a driving on suspended. Hope it works out for you

My take home pay ranges from 700 to 1k a week. This is take home after med insurance dental etc. I'm currently on a chep dedicated route

I like to start at 3am so I can get home around 2-3pm

Call placement I know they run a dedicated water route that you can be home every weekend or 2 days a week
