Fast forward to 40 seconds if you want to skip past me describing the set up and just want to hear it.
I am now back on an MBII Guardala mouthpiece tho I feel it is quite bright on this set up which suits funk/fusion style playing.
I am now using this full time after a few years away from it but playing similar pieces until now.
Gear set up -
Yamaha 61s tenor sax
Yamaha V1 gold plated neck
Guardala MB2 mouthpiece
Vandoren zz jazz 2.5 reed

Hey man. Saw both this video and the one you posted with your 62. IMO your 61 sounds a lot better. Very nice core sound and very centered. I’m sure you switched for a reason - it was nice listening to you 😀
Thanks for the comment, I switched back to my 62 cos I added a wooden Paraschos neck and it made a big difference and thickened up the sound and gave me a more solid core on the 62, it works well for me, I also tried it on the 61 but the results were better overall on my 62 so I went with that.
Is this the original guardala? Or the one made by nadir? I have seen you use the nadir mp and I want to buy one. Do you think his regular mb2 is different than his handmade version?
A regular MB2 laser cut play great but so do the Nadir. I don't feel much difference between the 2 types. Eastern music (China made) on ebay have an MB2 copy that plays just as well as the more expensive models and is much less money and definitely worth trying before you spend a lot of money on the other MB2.
Hey! How does a sliver plated version of 61 compare to a golden lacquered one? Any thought on 61 vs 62? I have a chance to get a mint 61s for an ok price (not super cheap thought) that I consider “ok” considering the rarity of the model. Do you like the horn? I currently own and play 31 which I love too... thanks
grab the 61s at any chance. fantastic tenors especially when set up. 62 has a more refined sound and 61 is more open, bigger.
Do you feel more comfortable when blow with the Rovner Ligature or with the Selmer 402?
I use a Selmer 402. The rovner was used in this demo only cos I forgot my Selmer ligature.

King model is brighter sounding than the MB2. I prefer MB2.
