  • A little bit of time lapse shot on the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Still need to work on the day to night transitions, but the milky way came out pretty nice.

Awesome views! Thanks! I am currently in Las Vegas and I want to start desert sky timelapse, just as a hobby. What equipment do you recommend me? Thanks again!

Does the milkyway look like that to your eyes when you're there? Like can you actually see it at night time? Absolutely crazy :O

No. When they do the editing on these time lapses they enhance certain colors and mute others to help bring out the stars.

The part of human eye which reads color (cones) do no work in low light. The part of the human eye which see in low light (rods) do not read color. Because of this, when viewing the stars at night with your eyes, you won't see almost any of the color which is up there. Cameras don't have this limitation and can record all of the color information from the night sky. Cameras shooting in raw do shoot things a bit flatter and with lower saturation, so there is always a certain level of contrast and color enhancement which goes along with any image. My images are always processed, but not over processed. There are much more offensive representations of the colors of the milky way and other sky objects out there. Thanks for checking out my videos!

Aaron Kupferman Thank you for the detailed response. I wasn't trying to imply your video was fake or photoshopped just that these images aren't visible to the naked eye. Hope it didn't come across like that.

No problem Chuck, I am mostly wanting to get across that it is more about the camera sensor vs our eyes than any editing or processing of the colors.

Blakefulable: Sadly to say no... But still is pretty to the naked eyes!! When the sky is clear and dark, it is clearly visible as a big long cloud in the middle of thousand of starts... I am sure you will love it also!

Is this were they called the stars party? Or this is a just regular day in grand canyon?
