A lot of the reason Stripling did so poorly was because of inexperienced catching. He lost his command of his fastball pretty frequently, but would gain it back towards the later half of his starts. An experienced catcher would call breaking balls off the tunnels established by his wild fast balls, until he got the fast ball command back and then use fastballs to close out at bats in later innings. Even with an experienced catcher, and good coaching, he would have been worse than most starters.

I'm so glad you mentioned kenta maeda, honestly baez was awful but kenta was embarrassingly bad especially as someone who was supposed to come in as an ace of sorts.
Glad you didn’t go with Taylor for the Dodgers. He did struggle mightily at the plate, but he did end up a shade over .200 and his defense and base running (as always) were phenomenal.
Enmanuel Valdez is basically a platoon bat, definetly shows the Red Sox depth with position players and I guess their pitchers all managed to have decent numbers despite being mediocre as a group

I definitely agree with Allen being the most disappointing for Cleveland. Carrasco being up there in years wasn't supposed to be a starter at all, he was supposed to be a bullpen guy, maybe a long reliever at best. Allen hopefully just had a bad year.
Marlins fan here. Can't believe we wasted a 1 year $5m contract on Tim Anderson. Agreed he was the worst, along with Avisail Garcia. I was rooting for Nick Gordon (half brother of the more famous Dee) to succeed this season. Wasn't the best hitter but man he hustled to get to 1st everytime
Give Miller a dang break, he had the pressure of being the 1st starter carrying the dodgers non existent starting pitching. He got hurt and just like Bellinger in 2020, returned way too soon. Miller should have stayed out until September but he was rushed back 3 times from 3 minor injuries. Buehler has had this same issue in his youth with LA, he just finally is starting to show just how good he can be but yall are gross for throwing miller under the bus while being one of the dodgers only starters for 2 months.
I can’t believe how many people forget how bad Buehler was after returning from his first TJ. Miller is so good, he just needs time and yall need to stop talking so much crap.
Yeah, it's unfortunate but Monty did not work out for us. I will say though, about the comment about the Arenado trade not working out - yeah, the returns have been uneven. Gomber's been fine, great at times, struggled at others, but that's all. But you know what? That's better than half the other players that have just walked from the Rockies with no return because we don't trade our good players we let em walk. Would Gomber be worth Arenado in a 1 on 1 trade? Of course not, but I appreciate that we got him instead of nothing.
Montero was a 3rd basemen anyway and got cut for good reason so yea… but the worst player for the Rockies is still kb. If you wanna talk about people who played the full season look no further then the whole starting rotation Not that it matters clearly people don’t care and about the rox 🙃
As a Reds fan, I still will say Will Benson. I expected quite a bit more than a sub .200 batting average. You can say that he is meant to be a power hitter but he still did not hit that many home runs. Also the audacity that David Bell had to keep Will Benson in the lineup as Rece Hinds was breaking out. I don’t care that Friedl was back I still would take Benson out of that lineup anytime.
Gah, I was on the DJ Stewart train when he was drafted by the Orioles. Seeing him live (on TV) was just awful. Kimbrel was good... He fell off a cliff about the ASG to his subsequent DFA'ed. All in all, the Orioles fired 3 of their "hitting" coaches/bench coaches. Their crappy hitting approach was not up to par. From the tail end of the first half to the end of regular season to the playoffs, we stunk. Personally, I would like to see the team use a small ball strategy along with the HRs/extra base hits. Nearly all the guys not named Rutschman have some decent speed. Hit and run, stealing bases to manufacture runs. Sure, not as fun as HRs but they all count regardless.
2024 feels like a toss up for the Jays. Bo is a good choice, but was also hurt the majority of the season, which was good and bad judging by his numbers. I'm guessing Daniel Vogelbach didn't make the innings required but he absolutely stunk. Davis Schneider took a big step backwards from his 2023 season. George Springer is not an everyday player anymore because he's just really bad at the plate.
for cubs, Hendricks has been slipping for years. He’s still a Chicago legend, he’s the professor! But I feel like Adbert Azolay was pretty disappointing
As a blue jays fan, I endured watching most of the games last season and prayed for a better outcome this season. Stopped watching at some point because they gave almost nothing to cheer for. What really gets under my skin is how well players tend to do when they go to other teams. But the media and team at large seems to be refusing to believe it's the coaches.
Worst of Taijuan Walker's season was that, due to his fucking contract, the Phillies had to sit Turnbull who was A BEAST, just to have him gifting balls to hitters, and when Turnbull was back on the rotation, he wasn't the same guy.
Eddie Rosario is 100% right. So is Bobby Miller. The White Sox should have been the whole team though lol. I would probably say MJ Melendez for KC or David Bednar for Pittsburgh, though that may just be most disappointing.
I'd argue Omar Narvaez was worse than DJ Stewart for the Mets. Steward at least could get in base and he had a couple home runs that contributed to wins. Narvaez was absolutely basura offensively and defensively
jordan montgomery and his partner in crime paul sewald definitely sold a lot of games for the diamondbacks this season. some are okay, their numbers exceeded more than some though.
DJ for the Yanks was sad to watch. He has been going down hill. Was one of my fav hitters to watch. But injuries have slowed him down for sure. He still has 2 years left with Yanks. $15mil a year. So the Yanks owe DJ , $30 mil i think.
For the mariners I would have gone with Haniger instead of France. Haniger put up way worse offensive numbers and terrible defense in right field, and we got to watch his corpse be brought out to play 120 times last year.
Bobby Miller was bad but mfs acting like they didnt watch yohan ramirez sell every single game he played for the dodgers and literally started crying on thr field after nailing a dude
Yup. It's kinda funny and charming when he was a beast but now it just pisses you off because he absolutely stinks. White Sox, Dodger, Philly and Baltimore fans are all that buff arm handshake solidarity meme, lol. Atlanta, San Diego, and Cubs fans I'm sure still have a soft spot for him. Red Sox fans are probably indifferent on Kimbrel if I had to guess.
@@austinsmith7731 Hey, at least he didn't fuck anything up either, haha. He shut my Dodgers down in the 2018 world series aside from that last game, even if most people remember Sale striking out Machado more.
The funny part was Kyle Hendricks was serviceable, after his first month which was dog shit. I’d assume it’d go to Miguel Amaya but him not playing the entire year probably didn’t cause that to happen
I still think Edgar Martinez's 1995 was better cause yes even tho it was shortened it was still 145 game which he played every game of and had a 1.107 ops and walked more than he struck out, also I feel it's slightly unfair to call ohtani a pure dh since he is physically capable of playing the field whereas the best two DHs in Martinez and Ortiz could not really
It kills me that people who have never sniffed this level of play feel emboldened to make content that disrespects the incredible athleticism of ANY professional athlete.
Dylan Carlson is frustrating A moderately fast power switch hitter with a good glove None of that stayed in the majors with the cardinals and it played a role in trading players like Randy arozarena and Tyler o Neil and not hanging on to Adolis Garcia

If you wanna talk about people who played the full season look no further then the whole starting rotation
Not that it matters clearly people don’t care and about the rox 🙃
Penultimate means second to last. I think you meant just regular ultimate regarding the White Sox. Don't think they're the second worst lmao.
Whoops, good point! Thanks for pointing it out, and for watching!
I bought Ty Frances city connect jersey, cause he’s always been a fan favorite, then he was traded away 3 days later😂
As a Phillies fan who had to endure Kimbrel in 2023, I could have predicted he would be the Orioles’ worst player this year
I will agree that Bobby Miller was the right pick for the Dodgers I think James Outman was another choice
The recent downfalls of Tim Anderson, Alek Manoah, and Trevor Bauer bring a smile to my face
Jonah heim was easily the worst rangers player this season. Took a step back defensively and finished with one of the worst OPS in MLB
100% and I love Jonah. I think he was possibly playing through an injury but that was never confirmed so 🤷🏻♀️
Worst of Taijuan Walker's season was that, due to his fucking contract, the Phillies had to sit Turnbull who was A BEAST, just to have him gifting balls to hitters, and when Turnbull was back on the rotation, he wasn't the same guy.
For the giants I thought it was gonna be Soler before we traded him lol
Nick Allen for the A’s
Padres fan here. Wade is the perfect choice. All he was good for was being a pinch runner
As a Rangers fan, Leiter was bad but at least he's a rookie. Jonah Heim should've been in consideration for this.
Nah the brewers really extended the QO to Rhys😫💀
Bichette was disappointing but he actually had a positive fWAR. To me no one was as consistently dreadful for the Jays this year than Zach Pop.
ngl i forgot we still had DJ Stewart on the team this season 💀
It must be aggravating to be paying someone millions of dollars and get that kind of negative production out of them.
jordan montgomery and his partner in crime paul sewald definitely sold a lot of games for the diamondbacks this season. some are okay, their numbers exceeded more than some though.
Haven’t watched the vid yet but Javi Baez is on here for the Tigs isn’t he
Wish you put the stats/numbers over the highlights
Surprised that Zack Gelof didn’t make the list
Too bad the Royals didn't play the Dodgers in the World Series. Imagine Will Smith pitching to Will Smith. (From a Yankees fan)
Surprised Jorge Polanco wasn't the M's choice here. Talk about not living up to the hype and the value of a contract. :(
12:26 christaphor morel hate will not be unpunished
As a White Sox fan, I feel it’s important to point out that “Penultimate” means “Second to last”… these dudes were the ULTIMATE losers
Does Kimbrel still do that weird Tpose looking stance?
@@lordloquatred sox fan here and youre 100% correct. He didnt really do anything notable for us lol
@@austinsmith7731 Hey, at least he didn't fuck anything up either, haha. He shut my Dodgers down in the 2018 world series aside from that last game, even if most people remember Sale striking out Machado more.
For the Rockies, it’s Justin Lawerence BY A MILE!!!
16:27 penultimate means second to last
bro i had 4 of these guys on my fantasy team 😞
Tim Anderson has never been the same since my booiiiaaa Josè knocked his block off 😅
See Bobby Miller at least has an injury as an excuse. Outman has no excuse.
The funny part was Kyle Hendricks was serviceable, after his first month which was dog shit. I’d assume it’d go to Miguel Amaya but him not playing the entire year probably didn’t cause that to happen
I'm glad you knew that Will Smith was our worst Royal last year 😂
Shoulda been Ke’Bryan Hayes for the Pirates
I watched this for my team knowing exactly who my team’s worst player would be. What’s wrong with me.
Any of these guys can still play baseball better than me.
I recommend looking up the definition of "penultimate". It means second to last. I don't think it's the word you want to use to describe the White Sox
It kills me that people who have never sniffed this level of play feel emboldened to make content that disrespects the incredible athleticism of ANY professional athlete.
Dylan Carlson is frustrating
A moderately fast power switch hitter with a good glove
None of that stayed in the majors with the cardinals and it played a role in trading players like Randy arozarena and Tyler o Neil and not hanging on to Adolis Garcia
