It's great to see that father and son bonding in a way that musicians are passionate about playing. Paul is so talented and his son is living proof of that!
@gillan64 no its not. No one gives credit to rhythm guitar most people are obsessed with solos. Most great rhythm guitarists are remembered for their solo work. Look at evh and hendrix... Theor rhythm playing was the best part of what they did but everyone always thinks of solos whne they think of evh
Paul can play lead too. the “World Without Heroes” solo is Gilmour-esque. he’s never got his due as a guitar player. you try standing in 7 inch heels, play King Of The Nighttime World and SING.
Listen to his audio book here on boobtube. He explains it all. He is defensive when not all made up and on stage. He was bullied when he was a youngster and had shitty parents.
Thought your playing was awesome Evan! Regardless, do what you feel as long as its right and dont worry about what anyone thinks. They thought Led Zeppelin's debut would crash like a "zeppelin" in the early reviews.
Paul's son looks like a real nice kid. Guitar skills to boot. Watching a few of these vids from Norman's feels awkward. Like the stars would rather not be bothered.
I met Gene SImmons at the NAM show and got his autograph and he was one of th coolest guys i talked to at that show. Paul seems like a preety cool dude too. I always loved kiss.
I was lucky enough to sit with Paul and his family at a Christmas party a few years ago. He was really quiet and soft spoken. I was a huge Kiss fan when I was younger, so it was a bit of a dream come true. It was very hard to not ask him about Kiss. We did talk guitars and amps a bit. I play an Iceman, and find it easier, faster and far more comfortable than my mid 70's Strat, an SG, and Les Paul. His son is pretty good. Its nice to see a father and son share a passion for something. That seems to be a rare thing to come by anymore.
God damn there's a lot of hate on this channel. all paul did was buy a guitar for his son. Paul started with nothing and with gene built an empire. are they the best players in the world? you decide for yourself...but the hatred directed toward a father and son playing guitars is just unfathomable.
I got a late start in music appreciation in life. I'm a beginner singer, guitar player and song writer. I've been trying to interact socially with other musicians, most better than me of course, and I honestly have never seen a more arrogant, rude, socially incorrect group of people in my life. It's a little disheartening because I want to be a part of the music scene and I want to embrace it, but wow... it's not what I would have imagined. I grew up with Paul as one of my teenage idols. It's so cool to see him as a normal dad getting a guitar with his kid. The theme of the video is great! Thanks, Paul for being willing to be in the video impromptu. It means a lot.
Yes people are born with natural ability. Artists of all kinds are born with natural ability. They either use it or it lays dormant. Everyone has some natural gift they naturally lean towards. That is why you have some that are just awesome and some that can't play no matter how many lessons they are given. My aunt played a piano without ever having ONE lesson by a music instructor she played by ear, could hear a song once and play it and not miss one note.
Paul, the writer and performer of decades’ worth of huge hits, has absolutely NO hesitation in pointing to the very obvious talents of his dear son. Hats off to the Starchild !
How do you thumbs down this video. It is super cool and a dad is getting his son a guitar. Thank God the kid is playing Guitar instead of being stuck in Playstation and bad heroin. The kid sounds pretty good. The boy deserves a nice guitar and his pop has the pockets to buy him one or ten...... I am not even a kiss fan but after listening to Pauls book here on youtube I have a new found respect for Paul Stanley. He is a hard worker and has been at it for 40 years plus.
Thanks for sharing! Evan is very talented for his age;I saw him jamming with KISS during a recent soundcheck rehearsal &he was awesome! Paul is THE BEST Singer/Frontman/Performer/Songwriter/ Artist on The Planet!!!!!!!! He is obviously my favorite entertainer,&KISS has been my fave band since I was 5 yrs. old &I'm turning 40 in October! KISS has never let me down !
There are many KISS fans and detractors out there for sure. The only other name bands that have as many line up changes and have remained at the top of their genre are Chicago and Yes. Indeed, after 40+ years of constant touring and album releases, KISS is still at the top of the food chain. Having seen some videos of Paul's boy playing around at various sound checks, he can really play quite well, no joke! It's nice to see a big name star's kid take advantage of his good luck to develop his or her own skills rather than just munching on cheese puffs by the pool! It's great to see Paul investing some real parent time in his son and making sure that his boy has skills to help himself in life rather than just living large on his dad's name. Great job there Paul!
I disagree about Chicago, they have never been the same since Terry Kath died! In fact they changed genres, they went from being a Rock & Roll band to an easy listening band, Terry was the Rock & Roll heart of that band and he balanced out Cetera's tendencies to be a wimp!!!
Well, I wouldn't disagree with your assessment of the watering down effect but unfortunately that happens to many bands as they age and go through lineup changes. Nonetheless, Chicago has remained popular even if they have changed directions to help sell albums. I prefer the older version myself but wouldn't mind being their management company. Take care!
No doubt . Evan has done well for a child of a Rock Star and Paul [Star Child ] is a Rock star if there ever was one . Takes a lot of time and dedication to become as good a player as he is and I too commend Paul for spending quality time with Evan . Cool vid and thoughtful comment Paul.

Harder and harder to make a living from music these days, but we need to keep some traditions alive. Blues/ rock rules. You have to keep practicing and playing and performing.
Paul that kid of your's is a smoking next generation player, you must be so proud of him not just becouse of his talent but he seem's very humble and down to earth. So great job paul on many level's.
So cool to see Father and Son sharing the same interests. Whether it’s fishing, hunting, racing, music. And Dad says, he’s already way better than me. So humble. Your Chauffeur J Bruce, Hollywood North.
You're kidding right? here's the thing about that......sure KISS music is very BASIC rock. It's got a formula to it that works and sold millions of records. If your lucky enough get on board that train and ride it for decades to mega millions of dollar success.......you DON'T FUCK UP THE RIDE......even if it means rehashing the same LAME CRAP for years. But really..... any guitar player who is in the business and plays DAILY for decades can't help but get to be pretty good over time. Nothing in Paul Stanley's playing in this clip surprised me much. He never was drug infested and/or sidelined with stupid behavior. I mean does it really surprise you to find out he can play more than just the songs and stuff he did with KISS? 5 decades of playing everyday......I bet this only scratching the surface.
Dogboy1960 I guess my ignorance is showing i'm just used to seeing him play nursery rhyme songs with KISS and i have never seen any footage of him playing blues, country or any other challenging music. I just though he was a one-trick pony.
A Val Don't be too hard on yourself. Most of us, especially early on, just assumed Kiss played simple riffs and chords because that's all they were capable of.....back then it might even have been the case. But really....play long enough, everyday....and you have to get bored and attempt to learn something new. It's hard to feel sorry for Paul Stanley. Sure, he's STUCK playing lame ass KISS songs when playing arenas to crowds in the 10s of thousands at a time...... poor guy has only his millions of dollars to comfort him and compensate him for the CRAP he has to just keep playing over and over when the make up is on and screaming KISS fans want to nothing more than Rock and Roll All Night and Detroit Rock City. :-) Today.... with millions in the bank.... It's not hard to imagine he probably gets more enjoyment out of playing in small venues with his son these days. I'd imagine you, me and most people.... might all be really surprised by the set list he plays when ever he isn't on stage in grease paint and Gene Simmons on Bass.
Wow! 12 years ago since this happened already. Norm and Paul talking away Paul's Son: Just fucking ripping in the background I love the proud look and words of support Paul has for his son. Also the way his son says "thanks dad" in the beginning.
Kiss seem to be all total class, working man's ethic. I opened for Gene Simmons a few days ago in Oberhausen. He could'nt have been a cooler guy. PS seems to be same. I went home with awesome memories for a lifetime
Why? At 56 I remember all too well wearing out records playing and replaying tiny bits of the solos I wanted to recreate and learn from....... in more recent years I'm amazed at how much easier and faster a young kid can progress today. It's going to produce more/better players than our generation and the generations before us ever did. I wonder how many "kids" in the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s.....that had real potential to be something great gave up too soon because honestly it was just so very hard to learn and expand what you know.......today it's easy to stay inspired and you can find endless inspiring stuff to add to your abilities. I'm older and have learned in all kinds of different ways and I'm loving how easy it is to find all kinds of different lessons, info, songs, tabs, theory, performances, old footage, - whatever, with ease these days. It's awesome. I'm learning and finding sources of inspiration constantly. Plus I have the opportunity to check out players and styles I wouldn't normally encounter in my day to day life or that are outside of my favorite genres and that can be inspiring as well. Side note - it's amusing to me how normal Paul Stanley's kid looks. For that kid to rebel against his dad he almost has to be totally normal. :P
Evan is a fine player, alls he needs is a shot of his dad's ego, he seems a bit shy..also seems like a very respectful kid for someone who grew up Paul Stanley's son..refreshing to see.
It's really annoying when somebody is talking and the other person is playing, wait till they are finish talking and then play . Most of Norms videos are like this, He should do something about it.
relicsun yes because they have beautiful guitars in their hands and their hands just don’t wanna stop even if someone is talking. But I think Norm wants this because it helps sell his guitars.
Kiss was the BOMB when I was 14!!!, good times. No matter what happens in the future, nothing will be able to stack up to the 70's. For real....*DROPS MIC*
PAUL rocks and the fact that he spends time with his son just tought me a great lesson, I need to go back to my doughter been in the net to damm long, great lesson from such a great ROCK HERO
+theelder91 you know nothing at guitar, the only thing that sucks is your comments, Ace is really good player, just check on youtube, and Paul's son is good too, stop being a fanboy
Rifle Twist hell yes they think everyone had thousands to blow on gear. Plus they treat the common player like dirt. I busted my ass saving for over a year for a certain guitar I wanted I was going there all the time and just look and when I finally had enough they made a few comments that made me feel like dirt saying wow it took you this long to save up for this guitar that's pretty bad what they don't know is when you have sick family it's hard to get any money together I will never shop there again
Grow up people. If you cant afford to buy a good guitar then shop elsewhere. I am in Australia but I would expect that if I were there I would shop atNorms. Its famous all over the world. I'm sure he doesn't have to worry about people that want to buy a $500 guitar.
Red TV Productions Yeah but his staff don't have to be pricks to those that do want regular guitars. If they really hate people who buy sub-$1000 guitars that much they shouldn't sell them in the first place.
I don't know how his staff treat people who want cheaper models. If they are pricks then I would shop elsewhere. Just remember you get what you pay for and if they have chosen to cater to the people that want higher end guitars then I imagine its best not to stock them. He is trying to preserve his reputation for good instruments and as I say, I would travel there if I wanted to buy one. I really wouldn't want to see dozens of people off the street demoing or playing around with cheap guitars.
It's great to see that father and son bonding in a way that musicians are passionate about playing. Paul is so talented and his son is living proof of that!
He mimes there's heaps of videos here YT catching him out miming!
They seem like a perfectly normal father & son spending quality time on a common interest they both can share.
+Bobby McMinn You expected different?
Good Dad and good kid. From what I saw on Gene Simmons TV show he had good kids too. More power to them and their wives and familys
Herman and Eddie Munster.
Very respectful kid...and very talented.
MysticalLibra how? He seems like a respectful young man. Norman did say to play & while they spoke.
Robert Botello what
Old School fan of KISS from the early day's and glad to see one of my Rock faves spending quality time with his child , well done Paul !
Stallone and Adam Sandler play some nice blues!
And they have talent.

I never knew they were such good friends.
Yeah the movie " Zohan & Rambo Spanglished" should be out soon

Your doing great man. Excellent feel. Maybe check out some jazzy blues and for Travis picking Tommy Emmanuel keep rockin

Evan got a good feel for playing the blues...
Very cool kid. Father pays him a real compliment and he replies, "Thanks, Dad". He is a hell of a player.
The most skillful member of kiss.
And the most mentally stable....
Most of Norms videos are like this, He should do something about it.
relicsun
relicsun Agreed! Take note Norm!
relicsun yes because they have beautiful guitars in their hands and their hands just don’t wanna stop even if someone is talking. But I think Norm wants this because it helps sell his guitars.
He looked really antsy to get ahold of that guitar LOL
What! Playing guitars in a guitar shop?
@ Blacklist, the tune is called "Hide Away" by the Late Bluesman Freddie King.
Was hoping to hear a few riffs...
Kiss was the BOMB when I was 14!!!, good times. No matter what happens in the future, nothing will be able to stack up to the 70's. For real....*DROPS MIC*
Kid’s good👍
PAUL rocks and the fact that he spends time with his son just tought me a great lesson, I need to go back to my doughter been in the net to damm long, great lesson from such a great ROCK HERO
Whatever you do, just keep that kid away from the Pie......
🤷🏼♂️
If you get it you get it 😂
@@jackshaffer1623 I don't get it.
Wdym
@@thomasm2047 have you not seen the movie?
Hey, great video!
The Song that Evan plays is "Hideaway" from the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton
- BEANO Album from 1966!
Jimmy from GTA 5.....
Ryan Pearce not even close...
Paul should have started playing "Lets put the X in Sex"
Haha, I busted out laughing on that one.
Bwahahahaha
what ever
I went to summer camp with Evan Stanley almost 15 years ago, hilarious to see him here of all things.
when i was a kid everyone wanted to ses kiss w/out make up
now they want to see kiss with make up. its almost mandatory
Norman has a really good business going to be having all these famous musicians showing up at his store.
Sometimes I can't recognize Paul without the makeup to be honest the first time I saw them without it
Also holy shit his son is an awesome guitarist, like damn... He's maybe better than Paul himself, and he was in KISS
John Savage Yes?
John Savage I gotcha, happens to a lot of people
+B ANDERSON I know that
I wonder if Evan can dream up amazing Melodie’s like his dad?!! That’s a whole other gift in of itself!
The dad is cooler than the son lol
Kid played pretty good..... .like father like son.....my favorite KISS song Paul Stanley Hold Me , Touch Me......
Wonder who taught that kid to play the guitar.
Mathead ace did
if ace did, then paul's son would have sucked bad. like ace.
LOL, damn.
+theelder91 you know nothing at guitar, the only thing that sucks is your comments, Ace is really good player, just check on youtube, and Paul's son is good too, stop being a fanboy
The internet man, today you don't even need to own records let alone drop a needle and try to play along. No excuse to suck in 2017!
Cool daddy, cool son. Cool Norman. Coooooool Guitar Shop! I'll visit you someday. Best wishes & happy new year from Austria 🇦🇹.
Evan has better skill & better taste at playing guitar....
Evan can really play! This was a fun video! Keep rocking the blues, Man! Paul - keep rockin' for us lifelong fans, Friend!
God Bless!
Buyer Beware...whatever you find at Norm's Rare Guitars, you can find on the internet for CHEAPER and the sales pressure here is overwhelming.
that is anywhere...Guitar center also
Rifle Twist hell yes they think everyone had thousands to blow on gear.
Cool to see. Paul's son is surprisingly talented. The fact that he took to the blues is a stark contrast to what his father did.
