The average listener who's not a musician or vocalist really has no idea how incredible this piece truly is! Every single member of this choir must be performing at a soloist level in order to pull this off as cleanly And beautifully as it is in this performance. Notice how, in the third stanza, the conductor puts their arms down. This is because each vocalist is taking on the verse in their own tempo and length, so that we can hear harmonies and dissonance throughout until it resolves. Just magical! To me, that part has always made me feel as if each voice was a swirling soul leaving the earth and returning to the ether, perhaps they're swirling around the one who's calling for death to take them away. ❤
@@nope24601 Thank you! Couldn't see if the conductor was male or female and I try never to assume pronouns. Excellent work by the conductor and each member of the choir.
@@nope24601 I have short hair and would look like a man in a sports coat from the back at 300+ feet away. I don't want to be mislabeled. I didn't want the conductor to be, either. I don't think that's irrational. I think it's courteous. But you... I'm getting a whiff of boomer.
@@TheyForgotMySalad Millenial here (I'm sorry to say). But it's a shame you are so biased against a who group based on an immutable characteristic like age. But, I'm getting a whiff of groomer from you. Using language like "assuming pronouns" and using "their" purposefully as a singular pronoun are hallmarks of the Groomer Group-Think. These lies that you build into your language aren't kindnesses, they're irrational.
I absolutely loved hearing this performance. Then I was a young teenager I bought an LP of the Lord's Prayer by the Morman Tabernacle choir which is what I really wanted, but this piece was on that LP and I have always loved hearing Come Sweet Death ever since.

@@TheyForgotMySalad "I try never to assume pronouns." You cannot possibly live by that rule. Abandon the madness and return to rational thought.

I saw this once at a music festival (different choir obviously) that “wall of sound part towards the end of the song still sticks with me
Wonderful singing. Thanks!❤

Incredible! I can't imagine how each performer sang their part in the section with moving dissonance.
How interesting! It's as though Bach spilled his paints. What the really validity of this performance is remains to be seen, but I'm glad they did it.
Bach improv.
Spectacular! That last oblique exploration was absolutely awesome! Kudos!!!
