Loud music is mostly played at night , during the day its chilled since everyone including the elderly use the matatus.

Until Covid happened I thought Matatus were it, but apparently 3 nation's hold the Public Service Vehicle unicorn KE Matatus, JM Coasters and Philippines Jeepneys.
The fact that Kenyans have immersed themselves me included into Jamaican culture and never heard of Coasters makes sense; Matatus have no equal though. 🇯🇲🇰🇪🇵🇭

Just seen this vid after 9 months of posting. But the good news is? Its never too late. Now back to you Danic's. Much as Kenyan have MATATU CULTURE, so do Jamaicans have ACCENT CULTURE. I don't know the difference between you talking or if it was a song. So nice to hear. You asked if the Culture vibes is an everyday thing. This is how it goes; there are specific days that an event is organized for competitions of which Matatu is the best in terms of beauty, acoustics, Interior design ---with each seat having a TV Screen--just like in Aeroplanes etc. On the other normal days, the Matatus ply in gthe City without competitions..but of course the loud music and videos are on for the passengers to enjoy.

The matatus are of two groupings: Regular, decent and quiet ones, and the 'Nganyas' as you've seen in the video. The Nganyas have music all the time, and have slightly hiked fares for the amenities they provide on board. The music depends on the day and the time. They play all genres but with bias to hiphop, r n b, dancehall, Kenyan and African jams.

Matatu,I also understand the pimp there toyota Costa in jamaica,the matatus get themes inspiration from reggae like Peter tosh,adija pulmer,also from series/ movies,western musicians,cartoons like dexter,the excitement is only when the car is brand new when they usher in the new bus ,otherwise its normally peaceful
