He clearly already has a talent for reporting but the encouragement the coach just gave him will help shape his view of himself and his abilities and carry him so far. This is a great clip
Coach did a great job of celebrating that kid without patronizing him. Outstanding leadership and personal skills. I can see why this guy is a head coach.
That is an awesome question! I have coached a number of players who made the most of their physical gifts by having a great attitude. My best teams were not the most talented.
@@audellaroque4730 I mean USC has maybe 5 tourney appearances in the last 45 years and 4 1st round exits which include losing to a 14 and 15 seeds. As an FSU man looking in, I'd say he's doing fine there for how horrible of a job that position actually is
@@vc5917 You clearly have not heard some of the questions coaches and players have received from full grown reporters and journalists. His question was good, it had a clear point to it while being flexible for both a simple answer or one with explication if the person being asked so wishes. Most importantly it is a question that doesn't have some obvious answer like "Did you your team just lose steam tonight trying to close out the game?" in a close loss or "X player did really well tonight, how important has he been in your success". Obviously the coach wouldn't shoot down a kids question no matter what it is, but it was genuinely a decent question.
Coaches love questions about basketball that aren't cliche. He upped the niceties because it was a kid asking it, but it was still a question he likely enjoyed. If the kid asked a similar question to Belichek, I think that would have awoken him in his press conference, and he would have answered similarly.
Following the run to the Final Four, the Gamecocks failed to reach postseason play in Martin's remaining tenure. Martin was dismissed as the head coach of South Carolina on March 14, 2022. At the time of his dismissal, he was the third winningest coach at South Carolina with a 171-147 (79-99 SEC) record. On March 25, 2022, it was announced that Martin had agreed to a deal to become the next head coach at the University of Massachusetts where he had a record of 15-16 for the 2022-2023 season
It's amazing how so many reporters can't even come up with questions that are this good in yet they have decades of experience. They just ask the same dumb, headline generating questions.
Saw Coach Matin on TV the other day...He had COVID virus TWICE...He developed Alopecia and has lost his hair and eyebrows...Doesn't look like the same man...Hate it for him, but he seems to be doing all right...

That kid alone is better than ESPN.
And CNN
Yes he is.
Anything or anyone minus Jemelle Hill is better (it’s not saying much). Love the kid Max though. Great kid and hope he continues his journey 👍
I concur
@@dahannesseremai3636 CNN complete drool
Kid knows basketball very well for a question like that
or just sports. the question can be asked for literally any sport
Respected the kid without patronizing him. Wonder what the kid’s up to now. Hope he makes it in the journalism world
He writes for Sports Illustrated, still does some SI kids stuff. He’s a natural writer and journalist
He went on to become RJ Barrett
He went on to become the Goat
NARWUAD
Anyone else just now getting this on there recommended 3 years later?😅
Hereeee
Me
Yup
Yeah 😂
Meeee
Epic question, but epic answer too!
Max is going places.
sydIRISH Just might even be the next Max Kellerman!!! Lol
sydIRISH he did
He clearly already has a talent for reporting but the encouragement the coach just gave him will help shape his view of himself and his abilities and carry him so far. This is a great clip
😌
Lol yea right. He’s a beta soy boy male. Most woke person at espn.
Coach did a great job of celebrating that kid without patronizing him. Outstanding leadership and personal skills. I can see why this guy is a head coach.
I’m a Michigan state fan but I’ve always liked this guy.
That is an awesome question! I have coached a number of players who made the most of their physical gifts by having a great attitude. My best teams were not the most talented.
that kid probably averaged 10.5 points with 4.3 steals a game
Gotta love how frank has turned around South Carolina basketball
Coming from a Florida fan, I'm a huge fan of Frank Martin. Loved him when he was at KSU, and still love him even though he's at USC.
God this comment aged like milk
@@audellaroque4730 just noticed this too :(

Man I wish they asked more questions like this
Coach Frank Martin is the best!
aside from him being a kid, that was a very good question. attitude will always come first but they kinda go hand in hand
Fantastic question followed up by a fantastic answer. Love it!!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome question and awesome response by the coach!
Ngl that question was really good though
Not really lol.. he was being nice..

Actually this brought tears to my eyes.
Get a grip
I'm with ya pal, I teared up too. Real men can admit that.
Coach Martin might be my favorite coach in any sport today!
Imagine the job that kid’s gonna walk into.
He's gonna replace Max Kellerman hopefullt down the road lol
super well informed question this kid has a bright future
World class coach!

Great respect for that coach
love this guy
I love watching this guy
Love that coach!!👍👍

They just ask the same dumb, headline generating questions.
probably because they are after ratings while this kid was generally after information
@@rohanramani6243 exactly right. Totally agree.
Somewhere Mark Schwartz is watching this thinking this kid blew his chance to ask Frank Martin what his state of mind was after the win.
I have watched this video every day for about a week.
Glad you keep coming back!
I love this coach
Good kid. Hope for the future.
I still think about this all the time
Tengo mucho respeto para este entrenador he should still be KState’s basketball coach, and history would be different
Probably the best question he’s been asked. Nice job kid.
Best question ever asked
Thanks for posting
Our pleasure!
Thank you Jimmy Fallon.
Heck of a question!
NICE QUESTION! I bet he was shocked.😳😳
Yeah he's never been asked that before
Now for my follow up. There were allegations about misconduct towards your players....
That was definitely a great question
Prayers for the coach to get past covid it’s got him hard
What a coach. Just made that kids day, built his confidence, and treated him like a human. I bet that kid walked outta there on Cloud 9.
Love this
Frank Martin is awesome
Good stuff
Put this on your CV Max 👌
Coach K can learn a thing or two about how to treat a young reporter.
I want to be like that kid when I grow up
What a good question
It really was a great question. And that South Carolina team played vicious defense.
The kid actually sounded like he knew the sport he was talking about. Something these reporters don't do at all
Hey I wondered what happened to this guy. Remember when he used to be Whitney Houstons bodyguard????
haha
It really was a great question but it just goes to show who really cares about basketball and who doesn't in these things
If you gauge a coach based off of his team’s defense, Frank Martin is a top 5
Cuban temper this guy is fun to watch
Oh my gosh, sad when you have to go to a kid for a good question. Wonder if any of the other knuckleheads were taking notes?
Anybody who doesn’t love this is an idiot. Kudos to that kid and Frank. Good stuff right here!
WoW! A young reporter like this makes ESPN reporters look completely clueless and incompetent.
I BELIEVED that Martin was the Coach that USC needed…. I don’t know how the wheels fell off the way that they did
Kstate should have never let him go
This kid should get a national job for that one..
That's because Boris will ask a question about Lebron no matter what.
Saw Coach Matin on TV the other day...He had COVID virus TWICE...He developed Alopecia and has lost his hair and eyebrows...Doesn't look like the same man...Hate it for him, but he seems to be doing all right...
That kid grew up to be Austin Reeves
Maybe there is hope for Americas youth after all
Leave it to kids thinking way outside the box.
How is that a good question? The game changes, the players change, situations change. How can you call something more important than the other especially if they are so close in importance.
Ya know what, maybe we should replace these "adult" reporters with more kid reporters. Kids get to the point without all the bs drama questions
Stephen a smith sit down this kid knows more than you ever will
*everyone liked that*
Jesus Saves Love God✝️
Wish Frank never left K-State
And that reporter grew up to be Lebron James, awesome
Frank Martin is my god tbh
max tyson dang ok lol
Um
