I very likes how you emphasize the accuration of engine block. The way of your handling the CNC machines. And the last not list. The PASSION of working.
I just now discovered this video. I’m gonna have to open my EJ205 block and it has the Darton sleeves as well. I heard there’s the possibility that the sleeves could have shifted, blocking access to the piston wrist pin. Do you think this is possible? Will I lose the shortblock if the sleeves indeed shifted?
Nathan Pang I love Wera. As an American electrician I am rather embarrassed at the combination of higher cost and lower quality of Klein tools in comparison (especially screwdrivers, my favorite being the insulated interchangeable shaft sets as they last very long and are WAY cheaper than anything Klein sells). Wera and Knipex FTW!
@@samsonian I mainly do my own work on my car, have bought many socket sets, thrown away just as many. Going to get their socket wrench set and joker wrenches when I resume my regular hours. I got tired of chewing up hex wrenches and keys so I got this set, super durable. Have their microkraft screw driver set, way better then the ifixit kit I was using before.
Why/how would this be done without torque plates? Isn’t part of the reason this needs to be done is because the mainline distorts at higher than OEM torque? Will this block run OEM torque? Genuinely just curious, certainly not questioning your methods
He machined the #5 bearing surface to accept a thrust bearing on the one half (other was done already) and machined the wrist pin access holes in the side of the sleeves
These engines have the thrust in #3 position. New Age blocks/ cranks have thrust in #5 so you have to convert if you want to use later model cranks. KING bearings Also make oversize main bearings for when you cut the tunnel but only for thrust pos #5 series.
What is the difference between Subaru boxer and Porsche boxer? And why does Porsche extract very high HP per cylinder compared to Subaru? Cool video thank you again
@Kays that is a very open-ended question...you might want to watch a video of someone rebuilding or assembling a Porsche motor to get an idea. For me, having owned both Japanese and German cars I get the impression that the former is designed to be simpler and more durable with less parts on the whole if possible whereas the latter is usually much more complex with less focus on cost to maintain/repair as a simple way to put it.
This is a loaded question that can go many different ways. Subarus are a "common" people car. Yes including the WRX and STI. The Porsche is not. Porsche is a much more performance oriented car, off the factory line that is. But look up Andy Forest's 7 second WRX. 1200hp I believe. I don't think anyone really takes a Porsche boxer motor and turns it into that. Both are good. If I could have a 911 RS3 I'd be in love. But Subaru and Porsche are two very different companies.
It's great to see the work you're doing! Would you be interested in doing a collaboration of some kind? I have some free time due to quarantine here in the US and would love to help you out doing some CAD/CAM work if you could use it. Currently building a de-stroked EJ25 w/ CNC chambered ej207 heads, relocated cam position sensors and a twin scroll turbo :-)
I like your channel, but when you post videos like this with no commentary, its boring. You gotta explain what you are doing. Looking forward to your next video. Be safe out there.

YOU WIN ! Most complicated CNC tool set-up ever seen on youtube.
😂😂😂
Actually, I would even enjoy a voice-over explaining the steps as it is pretty involved...unless it’s a trade secret...😎
Paul Johnstone yeahhhhhh that is some shit right there .... wow ... I couldn’t imagine what that costs

I do not know how much you charge for your work. But you do the most outstanding work I have ever seen. So much mesurmens such an accuracy. Thumbs up
I don't know what is happening in this video, but I like it a lot!
Motorenbau ist immerwieder schön anzusehen😍
That is a thing of beauty! Crazy how much work you put in on that CNC machine!
Love your work, it's the art of precision!!!!
Love how clean everything is
Can't wait to see the finished build on this one.

How to calculate bore and position and position rings use to replace bore liners measurements in( mm ) formala can u explain some example
I wonder why the manual feed with the jog wheel on the rear thrust?
this is an art form
When bored the crank cases where the cases put together with bolts n torqued down?

I really need to send my 2 blocks in for a thrust conversion.

Wera tools, I use that same hex tool set.

Is the block trammed to the boreline or are you trusting the bellhousing? Great video! :)
Nice, do you rebuild only boxer engine ?
Can you explain what you did and why?

Hallo Andi,

The Boxster S turbo 2.5L 4 cylinder has 257kw, and Subaru’s STI engines make near identical power in certain iterations

Puh enge Kiste! Da braucht man Geduld ^^

Ian Syme there were no holes in the new darton sleeves.
@@georgevandertogt2400 thanks for that! All is now clear.

Sorry, that was immature of me... I'm just a big fan of this channel... Sidenote: I wish I had a CNC machine 😔
Is this a real life?
Is this more accurate than the other UA-cam video showing a different way to do that conversion? he mentions a "datum", wtf is that?
Aaron Iron datum line is a reference line...
