Would love to do this stuff, we are on the cusp of pulling the trigger on a 300acre property in the Upper Hunter to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life just for an absolutely monster tree change.
The wife shakes her head at me sitting here watching all these videos 😂

Those bales look full and heavy Mate. Never seen inside one of those machines before I’ve only ever watched from a distance.

Great stuff once again. Keep these coming Lochie - good to see Australian content rather than the often less than relevant US productions.

2021-2022 hay making has been horrible for us. The rain just hasn't stopped. We only got 2 5 day windows to cut and bale all season. Meaning we managed to get 800 small squares of pasture/oaten/red clover blend in the shed. We're abit closer to the coast than you and we've had over 2.3m of rain this year. I tried to grow Lucerne a few years ago it established well but as soon as the tap root got below 300mm aluminium toxicity set it in and it died. I'm going to try again in another paddock next but I'll be deep ploughing in lime to hopefully counteract the aluminium toxicity issue

Hi Michael, wow that's a lot of rain hey, just one of those years. It was a little bit of a shame that we couldn't make more hay and harvest the feed while the going was good, but it will have done the soil the world of good for all that organic matter to mulch down and go back into it, especially after a couple of years of serious drought.

likely if it's at the gate it's a compaction issue. here in Canada we find alfalfa grows best in the sandier soils

Hi mate, thanks for the comment, yes you’re probably right, had a fair bit of traffic over that area I guess. And yes it s the same here too, that paddock, apart from one section is very sandy, doesn’t like being waterlogged!
