- JELLO Chicken Catfish bait is it overrated? People have been claiming Chicken breast with Strawberry Jello added catches more catfish... So we put it to the test by having a 1v1 3 hour challenge to see who catches the most catfish on the Potomac River in Washington DC. The results were interesting!
Lizabella used the JELL-O as she is fan of it and believes the strawberry attacts more catfish.
James used plain chicken as he believes the catfish are attracted to the chicken and the strawberry Jello plays no role in catching more catfish.

I've caught trout, bass, catfish, leopard shark and batray using it on bait.
Also, I primarily use dollar store hot dogs as well. Even caught trout on the hot dogs.

Try some garlic salt in the jello and chicken and a packet of kool aid
Will this work in cold water? We're around 45 degrees water temp here and the cats have lockjaw. Maybe this will get them snapping??

It's the sweetness of the jello I use sweet corn and honey in my carp bait and catch cat fish all the time!!

I like this bait for my catfish, but I find strawberry Jell-O hotdogs work best in my water.
Try chicken with soy sauce, garlic and a pinch of sugar, in my limited tests it beat plain and jello chicken as well as worms or cut bluegill.
We will definitely try that in the next few weeks and let you know how it worked for us. Thank you!

Paused at 0:50.. chicken is king for catfish, garlic powder on said chicken is emperor. I'd have to go with jello because any addition to a known winner has to give better results statistically

Try Pam cooking spray on any bait , you can even spray it on a small rag and catch monster catfish. Yes ANYTHING with Pam cooking spray will attract Monsters but is kinda messy

Next time I go fishing, I am going to try the strawberry jello chicken. Might also try using strawberry chicken livers also.

Do the turtles leave the jello chicken alone??? I have good luck with chicken...but the turtles get there first.

We have tried the jello chicken but only had luck with just plain chicken!
That's how it is for us... James mostly has luck on plain and I mostly have luck on Jello.

I've tried both at the same time and neither produced any fish, but chicken livers did.
Chicken works good on the potomac River for us, but at other waters we fish chicken liver is better.
A old style bait was a 3 or 4 inch shiner, cut open the belly and double hook it with the hook point hidden.
We used this long ago

I actually prefer kool-aid to jello. It seems like it penetrates better and it definitely draws the moisture out more.
