Refreshing to see someone advocating the use of veg oil instead of fairy liquid. It even says on the bloody bottle ‘Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects’
Hi Billy, just seen this video and have had one session with an online brought bait pump that has a wing nut as a bottom tension nut, I only managed 3 worms and thought it was down to not pumping properly, thanks so much for the info regarding removing this type of nut and replacing it with a standard locking nut, I'm also now building my own bait pump and will be doing the same with that too. Happy fishing
@billyfishing Fantastic stuff again mate, getting my pump tomorrow ( I hope - sent over from UK ) will let ya know how i go, Thanks again for All your tips And Happy Christmas to you mate from Cork
Great video. Very informative. You mentioned about changing the butterfly nut at the bottom of the pump. Would you change it for a flanged nut or a normal nut.
Have you dug Rag before? A video on digging Ragworm would be cool. Also would Olive oil work better than washing up liquid for the pump or would it clog with the sand? Lastly Billy where would I get a pump, if actually enjoy going and getting my own bait
Hi Darren, yes I dug rag. But that's a vid for the summer, there no good in the winter, I got my pump on the web, lots choose from. My pump has a diameter of 35mm, best for blow lug. 👍
@@Billyfishing_watch thanks Billy! Yes of course I usually fish with Rag from late July to late October. June and July are mainly freshwater months for myself targeting Sea Trout runs using the fly on the slaney and then blackhead worms on permitted smaller tributaries 😃 Iv only gone fishing twice in winter months on the shore and been unsuccessful Iv used black lug from frozen and razor from frozen tipped with mackeral but as you would say “no bueno” 😅
I use washing up liquid, I didn't know it was bad for the environment. Everyone I know uses it aswel, I was told by everyone to use it when I started pumping my own worms
@@Billyfishing_watch Thanks Billy, will get one. Like the delivery of your video's. It's always been a measure of the presenter if I think, I'd have a pint with him. Good bloke.
I pump lug full time for a living and make bait pumps . I don't push my pumps too much but if your interested I can make you a deadly bait pump . In the right hands I've seen a 1000 lug a tide blasted out using these pumps.
I do just fine, with the one I have, thanks Brother. But no boddy is pumping a 1000 lug in a tide, where I am. A big tide is 60cm and there not alot of ground to pump👍👌
Hello Billy, I'm french, sorry but here we don't find screw (english parameters, not metrics size). I want to follow your instruction in replacing wingnuts but which size I have to put please ? Cold you give me reference pleae, thanks
Hi Ppte. Sorry but I do not have my pump with me right now. So what you should do is take your pump to the hardware store and they will help you with that. The nut I use is a stainless steel nylon locking nut. Thanks hope this helps you out 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch @Billyfishing Thanks Billy, the problem is that we have a system metric size in france not an english size. Brilliant video, thanks for freezing your nuts off for us 😂 I've not had much luck pumping, I'll definitely get rid of that wingnut for a standard nut and give it another go. I've been working it too hard too, I'll go easier.

UA-cam is full of videos with complicated bait cocktails and all kinds of fancy stuff; I just want very simple instructions on how to bait lugworm for plaice on a 2 hook flapper rig...
Thank you 3 oi 99,I will do that for you in my next fishing vid,I think what you are looking for is a demo with live lug and no tools, yes ?😊👍 Fish on brother 🤙
@@Billyfishing_watch Quick question: I pumped my lugworms during low tide and it all went surprisingly really well. The problem is that I can't use them right away, because I can only fish during high tide here. So what's the best way of keeping them while I wait for the tide? Should I add some water to the bucket?
@oioioi - 99 Me will always put them in sea water for 2 or 3 hours anyway just so they can push out the sand from there insides ,if I am not fishing for some days,in the fridge with them in old trays for meat from the supper market, just 20 in each so they have a little space, and check them daily for dead one's😊👍
@@Billyfishing_watch Perfect! Wife wont let any of these guys go near the fridge, so pumping and fishing is more of a one-day project for me and my son (we're just getting started with fishing).
