- This is the music for the Spring Yard Zone in Sonic 1.
This comes from the european version of Sonic 1, so may seem a lot slower than the USA version.
I just wanna say ''Thank you so much sonicKAI'' for uploading the European versions of Sonic 1, I don't think anybody else on the internet has uploaded the European versions, can only seem to find the American versions posted everywhere but you were the only one that thought of uploading the European versions aswell and I truly thank you for doing so.

Wow. There must certainly be some kind of subtle, yet significant effects between the American and European players perceptions of this game, due to the vast difference in Musical Tempo.
OH yes the EU version! Now this is what I remember from my childhood. Don't you guys find it funny that the music that game devs made back in the 80`s and 90`s has totally influenced the music our generation makes today? Its great.
I much prefer our EU version of this song to the US version. It just sounds more chilled and happy.

For the most part, I haven't been a fan of these slow European versions, but this one kicks ass! Though I feel this version would have been more befitting of a casino-style stage. Seriously, this version of this track SCREAMS casino. lol
Spring Yard Zone was like a pinball machine, I loved it.
I still own this game and from the UK to both versions are good but the UK version in some songs since they are slower it makes some of the songs feel more relaxing like star light zone and the marble zone sounds more scarier.

@JoostRevo Well, technically speaking, if you take a look at the 360 controller next to the Dreamcast's you'll see a striking resemblance. The buttons are layed out the same as eachother, and the A B X and Y buttons have been color coated differently without being too obvious. Sega is still around, but Sega is backing the XBOX 360 up. Sega still exists as XBOX, but Microsoft is like what Panasonic did to make the 3DO. Sega is a part of Microsoft Game Studios.
We got this version in Australia too. The only time I hate having PAL versionm games.

@DopeDivinity No, there was a problem when they ported this to Europe, causing it to sound slower, and the actual game ran slower than the US/Japan copies.

Although mildly annoying playing it like this these days, this version of the tune is quite good to sing along to :D
An actual explanation: The actual console had minor differences in speed between NTSC and PAL regions (about 1%). Most video games use the screen refresh for timing, as it allows the game to update the video with each "step" in the game loop. It is entirely possible for the game, music, or both to compensate for the different refresh rates. This game simply didn't do that. For Sonic 2 , Sonic 3, and S&K (along with many other games), the music was the same speed across regions.
@SonicFan535 Especially when getting the "Fast Marble" Achievement where you have to go through the first act in one minute, and twenty seconds or under (80 seconds).
@SonicFan535 I'm saying in the XBOX Live Arcade version of Sonic, there is an acheivement called: "Fast Marble" where you have to beat the first act of Marble Zone in 80 seconds (1:20) or under. UGH! That was annoying!

@thewakkydude not 100% sure but I think it had more to do with the PAL settings then the consoles being slower. The consoles were practically exactly the same other then called mega drive or genesis.... Oh I was going to try and explain but I realised someone who knows what they r talking about 2 comments above said it all ready lol, probably should read that instead
This is the only song that's actually better in the US version :) I'm from Sweden and grew up with the eurpean version of this game. Most songs have a greater melodic impact when played back at a 50hz system. But this song is much better in US 60hz playback!

@gamegamer3000 No it's PAL version. Unfortunately, PAL is inferior to NTSC.
I believe it's because the European Genesis (known as Sega Megadrive here in Europe) is only 50 Htz. At least that's why the NES plays the music slower on PAL NES'

technically "European version" is every version built for use with PAL televisions, so if you had a PAL tv, you got this

Argentina uses PAL, just like most of the world actually. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_in_Argentina Americans often refer to PAL as the European version/system.

No, I'm pretty sure it was Masato Nakamura, the bassist for the band Dreams Come True. He composed the soundtracks for both Sonic 1 and 2. It was Sonic 3 that Michael Jackson had involvement with for the soundtrack.
