I purchased a DI vessel and resin about 12 months ago. Only use it on the final rinse (no PW) through a hose with a hose lock spray attachment. Great in the hot weather - just rinse off the car and walk away. To my eyes the car looks ‘glossier’ than when using my 330ppm tap water. Also use DI water in the screen wash bottle to reduce staining outside the areas swept by the wipers. If you find the ppm reading is no longer zero, it’s a good idea to disconnect the hoses from the cylinder and roll the cylinder from side to side to expose fresh resin to the water flow inside the cylinder.
THIS is such a good video OMG; I am always looking for this "nerdy" stuff and never quite find it; this is the type of gadget that will really keep the neighbours away 😂😅 when they see me with my pet drier drying the car touchless they already think I should be a in a white suit 😅 For us OCD people this is life changing, I will now seriously consider investing in this, thank you so much for actually doing the test and proving it works. I live in a "red" area for very hard water in East Anglia so this is a huge problem for me, as I have to keep rinsing and rinsing every couple of minutes while I am washing as it dries so fast in summer (even in shade), and it's a nightmare on chrome trim 😢 - I envy people up north with soft water.😅 It also means more appliance maintenance. Having physical disabilities it takes me a lot longer to wash my cars, here in the states I purchased a duel tank CR SPOTLESS system a couple years ago, what a difference, love it, thanks Heather 👍😁
I have had one for years I could not be without one now. As the resin's price is going up, I am buying it from window cleaning supply companies. It keeps the cost down. I am sure you will love it on the warmer days. I am considering buying a new dual system and putting my 11L system in line with the water supply to my shower. My water is so hard!
I have another solution for spot free rinsing. After rinsing my washed car with regular tap water, I rinse again with distilled water (which of course has no contaminants). I put the distilled water into a plant sprayer (I’ve got an electric one with a pump) and just spray the distilled water in a fine mist all over the car. It completely rinses away the tap water leaving just the distilled water. Yes, I’ve got to supply about a gallon of distilled water for each wash but that only costs about $1.25 here in Texas.
Hello Caretakers. Some years ago i heard a discussion between two engeneers, interchanging about the disadvanteges and problems even of distilled water and stainless steel plumbing. I remembered to this as i heard Heathers thoughts about the pump and the demineralized water. This is a point in deed.
Absolute game changer! Lived in the south and had hard water. Add to that, tight space on (a sloped) driveway for washing a car! As you said, Heather, these save SO MUCH time! Worth the expense👍. Your unit's come together very nicely too. Great work💯
Hey Heather - this might just be the single biggest question I have wanted answers to for years! I have a very similar setup to you with Kranzle etc... I did loads of research, but the thing that stopped me purchasing one was the fear it would damage my Kranzle, as I live in a very hard water area and was looking to use it for the entire process. After seeing your review I can now honestly say I understand the process FAR better than all the previous videos I watched and research I did - thank you. How North of the border do you have to go because I lived in Edinburgh for a decade and the water was so hard my towels used to feel like someone starched them enthusiastically... And that was with me adding a cup of vinegar and a Calgon tablet to every load of washing...
You definitely won’t regret it’s a great bit of kit. Purchased the same one myself about a year ago. Great for giving a quick rinse off and unreal on a warm day no hassle trying to get around the car before it drys. Keep up the great work 😊

I'm currently just keeping a 25L container I filled up using the Spotless Water stations. I can then just switch to that container when rinsing using my Ryobi EZ Clean battery powered washer.

Good video ,use one most days and it saves me massive time when the sun is out and the panels are hot as you know it can be a nightmare if you can’t move the car about due to not haveing the room.

Great info. These resin vessels have been used in the reach and wash window cleaning game for donkeys years. Quick way to find an appropriate solution is speak to your local window cleaner. They will probably show you their set up and advise on where to purchase from, and what to avoid.

Hot tip for evaluating tds content especially for this application - instead of using a meter, you can boil some water dry. Boil a saucepan most of the way to dry on the stove, then finish off in the oven at 180°C. If you want to calculate tds, you need to weigh it accurately before and after, but a visual result is probably good enough
Just something to look out for, if you have a high flow pressure washer make sure you have a filter mesh on the output of the filter as it is possible that it may suck the resin beads out of the tank and into your pressure washer.

I run a window cleaning business, i use deionised water for cleaning too. However, i buy mine from a company called spotless water. Costs around 5p per litre and saves buying filters/resins. Might be worth looking into. I often see car retailers filling up at the filling station as well as other exterior cleaners.
I have used one of these for years, the 7 litre version - I live in a very hard water area (wish I had 80 tap water, it's 350 around here!). They are good but you do have to keep an eye on the TDF as performance does drop off fairly fast, at least it does given the battle I have. I'm sure you'll be fine though. Refilling is a bit of a faff, but thankfully I only have to do it once a year as a casual home detailer. Anyhow, they are a gamechanger and I wouldn't be without mine.
Meant to say 'TDS' (typo!). Also, you just reminded me - use the tank for final rinse with hose only. For some reason this year I've been using it solely with the pressure gun and wondering why it didn't seem to work as well even with fresh resin. Problem solved :)
We have bore/well water (USA) term here in Australia and i tested it at 450+PPM and the rain water tank has 10PPM so i use the tank water, we live in a semi rural area and we don't have access to main water from town. It sounds dated but a lot of house's in Australia have either rain water tanks or this option (dig a hole in the ground and hope their is water)

I live in an area where the water is near 300ppm and I wondered why the resin was expiring far quicker than I was expecting, so I've just received a big old bag of the MB-151 resin. Hopefully this will last a lot longer than the other variety - I was using a different brand of resin but it was the same mix ratio as the MB-115

The pressure washer probably has a lower flow rate than your normal hose (measure it in litres per minute), so you may find with the PW it is okay to use if you wanted.
Was looking at this a while back. I can't remember if someone told me that the contents which gives it this feature runs out fast when pushing under pressure washer but best under hose pressure. Overall just stick to my Koch chemie fse which is a finish spray designed to remove water spotting

Love how you explain all the steps, really helpful for beginner car washers like myself. 😀I went and bought the same products listed in the description but the water coming out of the de-ioniser loses all pressure. The hose itself is fine so something isn't right when the water passes through the de-ionser. Any ideas?

@@AutoCareHQ Managed to fix the problem. I took the unit apart and the central tube was pushed too far into the top section and was blocking the exit hole for the 'Out' side. Working fine now. 🙂
That’s a good idea, would definitely work with most. Unfortunately my K10 doesn’t work with a water tank (something to do with the spring in the valves) but I don’t mind just using the hose to do the final rinse

Clever gadget. It's a problem when I wash my cars at our cottage. On sunny days I have a window of one and half hour in the morning, to get it foamed, rinsed, use the soapy water with a mitten, rinsed and then wiped of. That's not optimal 🙄
I'm currently indecisive... to jump or not to jump? My problem in the summer, besides the sun and very high temperatures, is the dry wind in the place where I wash. Washing my car is an adventure. I want one that works with a high pressure machine but the purchase and maintenance price... how violent😅...

However, I'm wondering what they base the total liter volume on. When the output water is no longer 0 ppm or when the resin is completely worn out? Been using my vessel with MB115 resin for a little over 3 months, washing one car per week (just the final rinse obviously). Tap water is around 230 ppm. After the vessel it's starting to read around 50 ppm already.

Around here we have the hardest water in the country at 415ppm Water comes from chalk bore holes. I tried one of these ages ago... They dont last that long.

I bought this resin vessel and the same shower hose but I seem to be having an issue. I have connected everything correctly but the water doesn’t seem to be coming out, not sure what I could be doing wrong.
I'm really not sure I'm afraid. If you purchased the "clunk click" fittings and the same hose then it should all work fine when you pull the trigger on the hose gun. Could be worth contacting Vyair on their website, they have an online chat function which they're very responsive on
This is why i have never understood the facination of beading. It's purely aethestics, what you need are products that sheet water.Not so pretty but much more effective as most water will sheet of the panel. Not rocket science less water, less chance of water spots.
When washing in direct sunlight with a pressure washer, do you find you get water spots before you get a chance to final rinse with di system? I live in a very hard water area and think it will cause me a problem with it drying before I get a chance to final rinse. Saying all this, I still really want to give one a go, though.
Good tip as usual, Heather 👍 I use the water softener that I run also in the house (obviously that is more expensive) for 2.5+ years, rather often, in pair with my Kranzle 1152 TST and so far had no issues at all with the pump. Together with the household use (for 4 people), I go through a 25 kg sack/bag of salt in around 2+ months.
water here is so bad, upwards of 1100ppm. i use the water butt i have in the garden (usually around 60ppm) filter it through and put it into a 2nd water butt and keep that topped up and on hand. i then use a hydroshot pressure washer to rinse the car :)
I am 99% certain that the pressure washer will use less water for the final rinse than a hose feed. That is what I have found with my setup of 14 ltr Raceglaze.
do you use the race glaze water filter with Pressure washer? I found they repeatedly advised me against using with a PW. I am now looking at the Big Boi Triple DI system / Tho Race glaze 7 litre for final rinse has been okay.

of course you always can collect the water that air conditioning makes. Its recycling and its free (asides of A/C cost working it)

That's two reasons for living North of the border. 1) Not much sunshine & 2) No problems with hard water.

Water spots are so annoying. It so nice not having to worry about it them. A system like this is worth the investment.
The water softener for my house works on the same principle. Has massively reduced water spots.

I’m only just getting 10l/min with the hose through the vessel so it would potentially starve it if the flow drops when someone turns on a tap inside

It was interesting to use the calculator, thanks for the link. However, I'm wondering what they base the total liter volume on. When the output water is no longer 0 ppm or when the resin is completely worn out?
Been using my vessel with MB115 resin for a little over 3 months, washing one car per week (just the final rinse obviously). Tap water is around 230 ppm. After the vessel it's starting to read around 50 ppm already.
Thank you 😊 it seems to me like it’d be when the reading is above 0ppm as they say the output of pure water. Maybe the MB-151 resin could be a better option with your water hardness being on the border?

Around here we have the hardest water in the country at 415ppm
Water comes from chalk bore holes.

I always pre-fill 3 large watering cans ready to rise from my RaceGlaze 14 litre vessel. Zero spots.
I bought this resin vessel and the same shower hose but I seem to be having an issue. I have connected everything correctly but the water doesn’t seem to be coming out, not sure what I could be doing wrong.
I'm really not sure I'm afraid. If you purchased the "clunk click" fittings and the same hose then it should all work fine when you pull the trigger on the hose gun. Could be worth contacting Vyair on their website, they have an online chat function which they're very responsive on

This is why i have never understood the facination of beading. It's purely aethestics, what you need are products that sheet water.Not so pretty but much more effective as most water will sheet of the panel. Not rocket science less water, less chance of water spots.

When washing in direct sunlight with a pressure washer, do you find you get water spots before you get a chance to final rinse with di system? I live in a very hard water area and think it will cause me a problem with it drying before I get a chance to final rinse. Saying all this, I still really want to give one a go, though.
I don’t tbh, I just keep misting the car with the pressure washer to keep it from drying out throughout the rest of the wash
Good tip as usual, Heather 👍 I use the water softener that I run also in the house (obviously that is more expensive) for 2.5+ years, rather often, in pair with my Kranzle 1152 TST and so far had no issues at all with the pump. It makes the foam crazy thick :) Here's a video of that water softener: ua-cam.com/video/fe6Wy1BMxAM/v-deo.html. Together with the household use (for 4 people), I go through a 25 kg sack/bag of salt in around 2+ months.

Do you get to buy these items under your company when you have to buy them? As in you get to charge them for it and also the VAT etc?
I’m not VAT registered but if it’s for business it can get claimed as an expense
So having one of these doesn’t require a gazebo in the sunshine?
It’ll stop water spots but you could still get chemicals drying out faster in the sun. Ideally you’d have both this and a gazebo to stop both problems

What is the difference betwen the resin mb 115 and 151 ?
Not sure exactly but it’s something to do with the anion/ cation ratio

water here is so bad, upwards of 1100ppm. i use the water butt i have in the garden (usually around 60ppm) filter it through and put it into a 2nd water butt and keep that topped up and on hand. i then use a hydroshot pressure washer to rinse the car :)

I am 99% certain that the pressure washer will use less water for the final rinse than a hose feed. That is what I have found with my setup of 14 ltr Raceglaze.

do you use the race glaze water filter with Pressure washer? I found they repeatedly advised me against using with a PW. I am now looking at the Big Boi Triple DI system / Tho Race glaze 7 litre for final rinse has been okay.
