Hi! Love your channel, and what you contribute to the sport! Heads up that a lot of people frown on taking parrot fish because of their vital role in the coral reef ecosystem, especially with coral reefs now struggling with all kinds of threats to their existence. I once shot one by accident with a guide, and the guide was not happy about it! You do a good job in your videos talking about sustainability, so figured you'd want to know, if you didn't already.
Foreign fishing fleets have devastated the Baja fisheries which has forced the local fleets to fish anything left over. The illegal local fleets go out at night and do their thing too, the whole thing is a disaster.
I think not having other points of reference really gets some getting use to! I did notice that one hand was not enough to stabilize the recoil of the gun so I should have been taking two handed shots: one hand pulling the trigger and the other stabilizing the butt of the gun.
Hey man love the videos, I am curious what camera you use while filming underwater. And what the pros and cons that you have found. I am thinking about getting a GoPro but I have heard a lot of bad things when it comes to there battery life.
Unless you want to dive with a real camera and a bulky underwater housing... a GoPro is going to give you the best quality footage in terms of action cameras. If you plan on taking regular 16x9 format video (like this) get the GoPro 9 or 10 (unless you are watching on a TV size screen, they have the same video quality as the 11) but if you plan on making TikToks or instagram reels it is nice to have the 8x7 aspect ratio that the 11 offers so you don't end up cropping as much. I would say the 10 and 11 are EXACTLY the same in terms of features that you will regularly use other than that possibility to shoot 8x7 on the 11. GoPro Pros: very reliable, enduro battery lasts 2 hours or so of continuous footage (although I would have to be a madman to shoot continuous footage, I only start the recording every dive and end it as soon as I surface), quality is great (I shoot 4K 60fps to have crop ability and 2X slowmo ability without ending up with stuttering frames), very easy to use, quick capture that starts the recording by just pressing the top button makes it so easy to record GoPro Cons: still waiting for an action camera company to give us a real 1 inch sensor that gives cinematic quality like the DJI Air 2S, so low light performance is not very good (as seen in this video), I wouldn't say battery life is a problem because I own 8 so I can shoot all day long
@@HideshiIzu thank you so much that’s a lot of great information. I am going to get a GoPro 10 and just buy the enduro battery. Thanks again for the response I was having a hard time finding info for what I want to do with it.

Thanks man! I agree for sure! In the entirety of the trip I just took that one
Cool video. But just FYI, parrotfish are protected in mexico, it's illegal to take them

Great video
Thank you!
epic trip boys!
Thanks man!
devastating! great lessons though. do you think the openness of the blue water affected your depth perception and aim?

Damn heartbreaking. Bluewater hunting is tough haha. You'll get em next time!
Yeah! I think experience is the major factor 😅
