Sir the word Donne is not from Dhrone (Marathi word)....In Kannada , in villages its called Jonne and for containers made out of leaves and later when the word spread it slowly became Donne (Pronounced Dho-nne). As well as you mentioned that these military hotels were used for military meetings, which is not the case. Military hotels were started by military families who stayed back when the Maratha army went back after invading Bengaluru. These families who stayed back created these restaurants as meat was staple food for them. Later the Maratha cuisine blended with the Gowda(or Vokkaliga) cuisine and gave a new touch to the food which is currently served in the Military Hotels.😁Happy Eating

sadly when i went they made us to wait and hour an said no mutton biryani that day and the chicken biryani they served , the meat wasnt cooked . but mutton kurma was next levl.
They use raw papaya as meat amd chicken tenderiser . As it cooks quickly , using less fuel and time also . In other places like Arabic , muslim areas they use vinegar , which gives little bitterish after taste .

Had been a big fan of shivaji military hotel until last week, where I found a cooked huge house fly in the biriyani... So disgusting, my main mistake is I forgot to take a video of the housefly biriyani as a proof, never ever I would suggest going here after this 🤮
