    You are going way back. Tammy had a natural cry in her voice. When Tammy and George Jones divorced, she released a song “Till I Can Make It On My Own” a must hear!

    She co-wrote this song with Billy Sherill. Legend is it only took 15 minutes to write. One of the biggest hits of her career along with DIVORCE. Such a very powerful voice and impactful delivery!

    You mentioned the songs being so simple and you summed up true country. There's an old saying with country music that it was 'three chords and the truth.' For my money, Tammy had the most genuine and pure voice ever in country music. Sure, Patsy Cline was pitch perfect, and I love her, but Tammy, well she is truly in an emotional class of her own. When she was married to George Jones, they were collectively known as the President and First Lady of Country Music, and justifiably so.

    I love country music, and enjoy watching people who are just getting introduced to country react to some of my all time favorite artists and songs. It seems most of the song I've seen you react to are on the serious side. Country is a unique genre, it can have you balling your eyes out, or tapping your toes itching to get out on the floor for a two step, or laughing your butt off. I would suggest to try Trace Adkins "Just The Way We Do It". I'm sure you'll find a reason to smile.

    You need to listen to Lari White's rendition of "Stand By Your Man" she also performs it live. This was supposed to be to honor Tammy, but dare i say that Lari actually exceeds the original. Anything she does it great in my book though. Check out "Lead Me Not" which in many ways was Lari White's signature song which she wrote, although not her biggest hit. The Music Video is just from a Live performance, and it is unbelievable the power, range and beauty of her voice.

      What 'takeaway' is it that you think most people have?

    • @tomuchcamoflauge
      @tomuchcamoflauge 3 роки тому

      @@39thala it came out during a big wave for feminism. which was based a lot in female independence either financially or physically, it was just around this time when women could first get a bank account without having to have a father or husband there with you. a loooot of people took it as 'just deal with being treated like garbage by your husband cause you're already married' and far less took it as it's supposed to be which is 'if you love your husband you'll work through the hard stuff'. also she was married to george jones at the time and it was widely known he was abusive, like would get drunk and point loaded guns at her, abusive. it seemed strange at the time, but it's really just a love song.

    • @PaintedCavern
      @PaintedCavern 3 роки тому

      @@39thala Many people put this song down as wifely submission to the husband. Hillary Clinton famously said during her husband's election , "I'm not sitting here, some little woman standing by my man, like Tammy Wynette."

      @@tomuchcamoflauge Well, exactly, it's just a love song! And Tammy said 'thats all she intended'. And that was the reason for my question to the original poster about their "takeaway" statement. Nobody can really say what "most peeps" takeaway is from this song or what "statement" was intended. That's just being presumptive. Also, it seems to be lost on a lot of people that this song was written by both a woman 'and' a man! Not just a woman.

    My Dear Tasha....
    None of us would ever contend that Tammy wasn't the perfect choice to sing this song; However , there are allot of PI and Criminal attorneys who would disagree with the "philosophy " behind the writers' lyrics ?
    It's almost comical to think that "all women", especially those who might have been harmed BY their men; Tammy was one of them too;
    Did she really "stand by" her men in those divorce proceedings ? Sometimes not.
    Go to " Stand by Your Man--He's just a Man?" see what I mean when you fast forward to the mid-point.
    After several listens to, Tammy's , on stage with Johnny Cash's Award commentary, I heard Tammy
    going flat on holding out that ending note; but who wouldn't , while being on stage with such a great as Johnny?
    She was probably a bit nervous, and that's forgivable...
    I still do hear a bit of hierocracy in the lyrics...
    Out of respect for both of the professionals mentioned above.
    I couldn't crank out the words of my chorus!
    Forgive me too, please...I just had to say it.

    Tammy said she'd done a lot of songs for women; but, this song was meant for men, in that, men mess up and are hard for women to understand sometimes. It's a song to let women know a man is only human "After all, he's just a man". It wasn't a song about being the "little woman" he can treat any ole way and she stays with him like some kind of dog or something. Tons of people missed that message. That's why this song was so controversial during a time when women were really fighting to be equal.
