  • A trip to a Marble King Factory dump site in West Virginia. At least 25-30 lbs of marbles and cullet glass in less than 2 hrs. Awesome looking stuff. Thanks for watching,

    I should NEVER get to a place like that, my obsessiveness would just go full steam in a second 🤣
    First thing I thought was that it would be nice to bring 4 stakes a rope and 2 buckets to sistematically dredge the whole creek 🤣
    1 bucket for marbles only and one for errors, cullet glass, and even broken marbles 😁

    Jesus Christ I would pay big money to go dig there. My son and I do a lot of glass work and make vintage reproduction marbles. I would love to get a bunch of that old slag. Dammit man you are so lucky

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 роки тому

      It is in Paden City Wv....there are dums in St Marys Wv too. There is so much of the stuff dumped it is virtually worthless. Marble King is the worst manufacturer of marbles in terms of collecting them. The only thing that is good is the cullet. You could find it if you went to the town.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 роки тому +1

      South end of the town over a hill...you will find marbles.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 роки тому +1

      I think you would do better for glass just finding your town or surrounding town dumps. The glass is much better on dumps vs this stuff. Some of the really old glass would make exceptional marbles.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 роки тому +1

      Then you could dig vintage marbles on the dumps of all varieties......then find bottles....and find glass to make marbles. You will love bottle digging if you start. Some of the milk bottles you will find sell for hundreds of dollars

      Thanks for the reply!
      I’ve just never seen any dig the quality of marbles like you find.
      I collect vintage marbles and I also metal detect and bottle dig a lot. I live in Chattanooga Tennessee which is rich with Civil War history. Been digging here for 20 years and I love it. But I’m lucky to find a handful of marbles per year and I excavate huge sites. I found dumps and literally spent years roping off and digging 10 x 10 foot pits 3 feet deep. all by hand. I love it and it’s a blast but I never find the quality of marbles you are finding. Was it a marble factory? And even so why would there be so many different brands there ?

    since you have so many examples to show in these video, could you tell us a bit more about each kind of marble? like talk about the rarity of the colour, of the size, of the brand itself, when it shut down...
    You know a bit more infos :)

    do you ever think of remelting some of this glass to make different glass artifacts?
    I tried glass blowing but I sucked (Sorry I will let myself out)

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  Рік тому

      Yea....but regardless of what anyone tells you. Or how careful you are. Melting items like metal, glass, plastic, then breathing the fumes.....will 100% shorten your lifespan.
      So that is why I do not.

    The bumble bee cullet glass is probably 10,000 times more rare than a bumble bee marble.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  2 роки тому +1

      Well.....not really. You just do not realize how much of this stuff I have dug. If you bought any marble king marble on ebay in the 1990's to early 2000's......there was an 80% chance I dug them.
      I have probably a 500 pounds of bumble bee cullet glass in my basement in garbage cans. And garbage cans full of marble king marbles I dug in that creek I was in on video. I took all the good marbles and cullet.....25 years ago.
      By myself digging marble king marbles....I tanked the value of the marbles. I had so many to sell....and had on thousands of auction at a time. When i started a nice Blended Spiderman was getting around $60.00 on average per marble. After I sold 5,000 of them.......they were getting a few bucks a piece.
      I can do the same thing again. Just tank the value of them. I can run so much cullet and marbles on ebay from Marble King right now that after I do it for about a year.....none of it will be worth much.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  2 роки тому +1

      I can do the same thing with about any bottle from the area too. I can tank the value of all those sistersville West Virginia bottles. I can make them worth a few dollars a piece after about a year of hammering a few on ebay daily.. I have thousands of them.
