It'd probably be annoying to keep all the cabinet batteries charged up over the years...I never have enough batteries for my remotes or controllers. Now I gotta power everything in the kitchen that has a hinge? Seems easier to train yourself to remember what you opened.
Try closing your eyes and finding something in your room. It's probably not gonna be that hard cause you already know the layout. A better test would've been to done something new with these glasses on
I totally agree 💯 We all should be exposed and experience other peoples disabilities. That way everyone will have an understanding and compassion as to what others are going through! This needs to be mandatory in all schools 🏫 and communities for ALL PEOPLE PERIOD! Teach love and tolerance morals values and empathy. Then these STUPID IDIOTS Will respect Handicapped PARKING 🅿️
Actually, this would be a good disability tool to show how blindness for the majority is really like. Take it to schools same day they use the “drunk googles” to spread awareness that blindness is not typically total.
They used to do that at my elementary school once a year. It was like a disability awareness day and we did activities like playing soccer with goggles like these ones or basketball in wheelchairs. It was really fun and very informative. I actually find it kinda sad they stopped doing it
There is a so called "invisible exhibition" where I live, where the visitors are either blindfolded, or are in a pitch dark room. Everyday situations like a house, a park or a restaurant are set up so that sighted people can better understand the challenges. The tour guides are blind people, so you get an absolute first hand experience. I highly recommend visiting one day.
Kinda similar to this, but I've seen online that there's a restaurant (can't remember where) that is pitch black and the workers are all blind. The clients get to experience dining in total darkness, which is obviously hard since they struggle to cut the food, find their glass and cutlery on the table... I thought it was super creative
@@evelyngamI visited one of these restaurants 2 years ago (company office trip), I was completely lost and overwhelmed by the darkness 😂🙈 Restaurant situated in Schlierbach, Upper Austria, I can really recommend this experience 👍🏻
We have that in Hamburg, been there once. Crossing the street even with an audio feedback signal is so stressful. Eating a piece of cake in the dark and listening and touching more was actually a nice experience.
Awwwwww! This is so sweet! I love how Matthew wants to experience what Paul faces every day of his life, trying to put it into perspective. Yes, Paul is brave and inspirational. I just don’t know if I would have the courage he does. He’s so young and beautiful and facing this with such humility and grace. Again, love you two and our gorgeous Maple.
We had to do this is Uni part of a social work course - the uni had goggles that were deferring levels of sight issues. Really interesting & also amazing how much you can still do when everything is blurry. It’s also immensely tiring as you have to concentrate way more & don’t have peripheral sight so can’t assume you’ve looked both ways whilst crossing a road. Also well done Paul for the cute prank with the hairdryer in the cutlery draw 😂
Yeah it was part of a mandatory school excursion to the school for blind and visually impaired… we learned what the school teaches the blind students/ how the campus is built to accommodate the special needs and then we had a lesson where we tried on different ski glasses which represented different eye diseases or blindness levels.
Matthew, I love that you were willing to walk in Paul's shoe even for just that small fraction of time. I love watching your guys love each other. This is what a healthy committed relationship looks like. God Bless you. Keep sharing, so I can have this vicarious peek!
When I went to school for architecture, they had us go around campus on a wheelchair for one day. It made us realize how important accessibility and building codes are. Simple things such as door openings and transitions on the floor can be so difficult.
When my mum trained as a speech and language therapist in the 50s they did this. With all kinds of sensory issues including sight, hearing, both, as well as varying degrees of mobility/immobility. I wish politicians, local government bureaucrats and companies would do the same. Anyone can become disabled in an instant and accessibility accommodations help everyone, but that’s not why: we should care about each other’s passage through their day. Maybe not as much as Matthew cares about Paul, (I mean, that would be amazing😅) but every little helps make the world a better place. ❤🎈❤
I love your humor 😊 I know it took a lifetime to be able to "see" the humor in being blind. I love how you had your love go thru what you have had to go thru. Empathy not sympathy is so much more productive. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hey, maybe do some research. Many smart phones have accessibility features that tell you what the camera sees ie “one face in frame” “one person in frame” “one person out of frame” etc.
Been watching Paul’s video for a while. My first time seeing how *cute* Matthew is! You guys keep looking after each other, having fun, living and loving life. It warms my heart to see people happy together.
Damn, that was impressive! I kept waiting for Paul to add more things to the dishwasher so Matthew would wonder when he’d finish! Have a great day, guys!! ❤

Paul, I admire your strength and resilience. I am currently trying to find answers to my own vision loss. There is a family history of tumors affecting the optic nerve. Before my Mom's tumor ruptured, she had been hitting parked vehicles due to her worsening peripheral vision. When it did rupture, she lost most of her vision. I, too, am hitting objects or jumping curbs. Only in my case, doctors are saying there is no tumor, but that there is pressure on the optic nerve.
I am gradually losing my vision to macular degeneration so empathy comes easy. Confined to home, I am so thankful for my libraries' streaming audiobooks. I fear the total loss in my future. Wish I could maintain your positive attitude. ❤ ❤ ❤
