Well shit me, the instructions with my cheap jack DID NOT make this obvious. You are a lifesaver!
I thought my first car DIY job to replace a wheel bearing on my MX-5 was over before it had even begun! I thought it cannot be designed to be impossible to lower when it doesn't have a car on it...
    Thank God for UA-cam.

Looks like a 1970s Chieftain Automotive Products from Port Washington, NY (est. mid-50s out of business about 1975, many parts such as 21 pc. socket set, made in Japan) as it is a 2 Ton Floor Jack. Believe minimum Lift Height at 4-7/8 inches. Max lift height of maybe 16 inches. It is meant for older cars from 1950's up to 1980. Beware of age because seals are either dry rot or ready to burst. Please use Jack Stands. Kind of an Antique as approaching 50 years old. Makes for a good door stopper or scrap metal.

last longer, built solid. Cars were heavier too. Beware of age because seals are either dry rot or ready to burst. Please use Jack Stands. Kind of an Antique as approaching 50 years old. Makes for a good door stopper or scrap metal.
