I think an obvious elephant is not addressed: his power crush as keepout. You can punish it if it is spammed, but when it is used defensively with the right timing, Clive will break your poke strings and then you're miles away from Clive with lots of HP lost. So poking against Clive carries a great inherent risk.
Haven't played since his launch so yet to face him, but based on what I saw I felt that he would be outspacing me, and looks like I was correct, so good to know that there are options to deal with him. Thanks
I think some of his minus frames can actually be used to his advantage. For example 3, 2 is punishable frame wise on block, but gives so much push back you can do b1 or db1 and it will either whiff but recovers relatively fast, or they try to punish the 3, 2 but run right into the CH b1. Can also use f1+2, but if its a mirror and the opponents does f1+2 aswell, then you lose that interaction. There might be a way to punish 3, 2 ive not tested it, but 3, 2 on block into b1 has been working as a trap for me alot
5:42 I was punishing the heck out of that move last night. Along with Clive parry where his fist comes out like zafina. Was using Lars FB, 2,1. Get 81 damage combo from it.
So my main lee. I have reached TG with him (currently at emperor on one account and the otherone i stopped playing on after i got it to TG) and i have every single other character at TK (including Clive) I dont think he is too overtuned for the most part. b2 and f+1+2 are INSANELY strong. specifically f+1+2 just covers legit almost everything. weapon insane range. borderline homing. safe launching heat engage that wallsplats. its just a bit much. that move imo should be looked at a bit. other than that just make sure that phx 2 should legit never track even at +6 (meaning after b2~f for example). outside of those i think he is fine. As a tradeoff i would maybe make ff+2 a TINY bit faster (like i18 or i19). Oh and remember at stance you can do just 2 thats a safe mid. so dont do the last hit of the string and he is safe. which i think is somewhat CH confirmable (aka if you see them move) just add the 1 for a launch. on ch. and his d1 is really strong. unlike dragunov who gets CH better frames clive doesnt have that, BUT clives is actually + on hit. ws+1+2 being a frame trap from there for example. Only issue is like against Kazuya since he can launch -13 lows, but other than that that move is really strong. AND to be fair ducking clive at the like d1 tip range is really scary since f+1+2 will just murder you there if you duck. I dont know who you normaly play, but i dont think clives frames are QUITE that bad. he exels at mid range and his tools are safe even though often barely safe
If you trying to play "small Tekken" with Clive, you playing Clive wrong. 😂 And on the hands of a good player, good luck getting in. Part of the reason people put Asuka so low on the tier list is because she has to be so close to the opponent to be effective. Never underestimate the power of RANGE in a fighting game with little to no zoning. If he had a bunch of safe pokes AND the best range in the game, he'd be top of S tier. Making his pokes unsafe (some should even be less advantage on block, because minus nine/ten doesn't get you a good punish anyway) was smart on the devs part to NOT make him OP. But he's still very strong. Very far from mid.
Just because somebody has counterplay doesn't mean they are mid. He's top ten imo ESPECIALLY in the right hands. He's already won a tournament and there are SO many people that have gotten him to GoD already. Dude isn't invincible, but mid is downplaying.
@zzzzz333-z5x that's what I'm saying. There were GoD players within the first few hours. A mid character wouldn't be able to do that in the abundance that Clive did it.
Holy crap you dont know much about Clive to make a video about him. It's really embarrassing 4:14 (mid mid) or df 1,4, has a follow up launcher of 3 and no you he doesn't have take an unsafe mixup option in phoenix. He can just hit 2 once.... which is a safe option. Yes hes mid but dont spread misinformation on moves you have very little knowledge of.
You're right. I just got Clive to Tekken Emporer abour an hour ago. the climb taught me a lot and I plan to make another video that's better than this one.
Clyde Rosfield
I call him Clyde frog

F1+2 is insane. Homing, mid, chip, heat engager

Nice downplay
4:29 he can just do the 2 option from the stance by itself. Which is safe on block and knockdowns on CH.
@@CosmicVoid420 very true! I know a lot more now than I did at the time of recording so I plan on releasing a better video soon.
hes not op but im so sick of him already seeing the whole time

@@olav_ I normally play Steve and Jack-8, so I'm probably just used to their busted frames LOL
@@AbsolutelyAbsurDDD fair fair. i mean clives frames arent god tier by anymeans. but its not terrible either. imo.
You're crazy. He absolutely OP.
yea the discourse is toxic I agree. It's like all Leroy PTSD and we are 4 characters deep into the DLC and none of them have been busted.
I literally fought Clive one time. I never see him lol for whatever reason. People are probably still ranking him up.
