Solid interview sir Mikee! The way he admitted that he was a frustrated and lost young man back in college despite his success showed his maturity beyond basketball. Sobrang ibang theme compared to your other interviews. New found respect to a player I wouldn't even know without this show. Thank you for another great content! 💪

I love the title na The Messiah. He was really that guy na hinihintay magsave nung basketball program. Though it did not happen the way we all wanted to. Pero yung pag-alis ni BJ led din naman sa pagkakasave nung Ateneo basketball program.

1st year ako nung 4th year sha sa Ateneo. Tapos tinanong daw nya si BJ bakit sha lumipat sa Lasalle, ang sagot daw ni BJ (Hindi ito verbatim) because in DLSU he saw that he could not only develop as a basketball player but also as a man. Sobrang what if kasi sobrang galing nya coming in if not for the injuries. It would've been nice to know about what really happened behind the scenes and more in basketball, but as a person it seems like he's winning in life so mad props to the perspective change due the hurdles he's had to overcome. Props to Mikee too for trying to steer the conversation as much as he could to basketball!

One of the first and major sports heartbreaks I remember having as a kid was when BJ decided to go to La Salle. As a young Atenean it hurt to lose BJ but it cut deeper that of all the places he could go to, he decided to go with our bitter rival. That has been a sore spot for alot of Ateneans for years to come, following his departure -- but this episode! It is always different from the outside looking in, so thank you Mikee for giving us a glimpse into "The Decision". It wasn't easy! BJ! God bless, wish you all the best!

Nabanggit niya yung Ryan Pamintuan, pucha ang galing yun. Ang husay sa post up play. Ang galing ng fundamentals nun.

Naalala ko si BJ nung nag transfer sya sa DLSU from from Ateneo... then first game nya kalaban ateneo, ang gandang laban at talagang bibully sya ng mga former teammate nya

IIRC mga seniors sa team bumu-bully sa kanya (alabanza?) while ex-teammates nya like wesley were kinda asking them to take it easy on him lol

BJ Manalo is first Filipino BB Phenom.. thats is so true.. without the injury bug... BJ Manalo should have been a Filipino Basketball star... but still he is a basketball star

Wasn't he the Magis awardee in '99? I thought the award was just for athletes.
Apart from basketball, he was definitely aloof back then. He wasn't financially struggling too in our eyes.
But despite all these, he was still idolized. Lucky you.
I hope his words are powered by actions..coz people still believe.

Highschool superstar who became a "what if" story only years after. I think he suffered a couple of major injuries that led to his early exit from elite-level basketball competition.
