You just gotta love a woman that can slam it down and belt it out like that, while SEATED!! If she were standing up, she would be DANGEROUS! I could listen to this day in and day out and NEVER get tired of it.There's an awful lot of talent crammed into 5 minutes and 35 seconds here. A favorite, hands down. : )
Who else can sing like that with the boyzz then sound like a heavenly soul angel? I'm with Chuck Berry raising my arms to give thanks to the Lord for Etta.
Blues vocals, piano, guitar, they way it should be ... with Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, Etta James...........Thanks to the Chess brothers at Chess Records for getting these folks off the ground.
its hysterical that Beyonce played Ms Etta in Cadillac Records. that said, am prayin for you Etta.. I hope you are doin ok and family is taking good care of you. Bless you for all you give to us.
There is no better female singer alive.....but its not her voice...its whats behind it.. .... SHE SELLS IT.....with raw emotion she lives the song she,s singing...AND YOU BELIEVE IT...............Check out her version of...." NEVER MY LOVE ".....AWESOME.
I saw Etta in House of Blues Orlando, I saw Keith in Sao Paulo, Brasil, I saw Chuck Berry and Robert Cray in Curitiba, Brasil, But all of them together... That's my dream!!!!!!
Johnnie Johnson blowing the blues piano. This awesome video comes from a guitar jam session rehearsal that was recorded as a bonus on a 1987 Chuck Berry DVD "Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll".
Les Dieux a l''oeuvre.. j'en ai la chair de poule.. Chuck ne s'y trompe pas .. et comment ce morceau débute.. Etta est la voix du blues.. juste magnifique
Hoochie Coochie Man is my favourite blues song to sing, it's the first time I've I've heard it sung by a woman and only Etta can pull it off like that. Etta is an inspiration to us all. Sorry to hear of her illness. Houndogmcg.
if you like this and lots of other blues and chuck berry watch Hail Hail Rock and Roll i got it on my DVR set to never to delete which is where this is from also if u like reggae check out Made In Jamaica yet another music documentary that was amazing just remember music is life peoples
Pure swampy R&B from the queen of those dirty low down blues Ms Etta James. Always missed but never ever forgotten. Search for her solo slot with Chuck on Rock and Roll Music.... sublime.
I loved watching Chuck bouncing up and down enjoying himself. I thought he was teasing Keith at first, then I saw Johnnie Johnson, then at the end he was all excited about Etta. It's rare to see an artist watching others perform.
I believe this is from a wonderful documentary Keith Richards was in charge of some years back as a tribute to his guitar hero Chuck Berry. He even got Chuck's original piano player, Johnnie Johnson, one of the greatest totally unsung heroes of early Rock and Roll. Hail, Hail, Rock 'n Roll was the name of the documentary, I believe.
I had the vid for this since the mid 90's and loved it. Got the DVD with these extras a year or so back and I think they are just as good as the gig itself. Mean Old World and the Rock Jam that kicks it off as well as the commentary on the making it great stuff. Etta nails it here. Steve Jordon, Johnnie Johnson, Cray, Keith, and band are killer.
The legendary Johnnie Johnson on piano!
Etta James can make you happy and put tears in your eyes at same times.

And then there was the spice girls 😂😂😂
she is sitting down because she isn't in that great health.

So so glad I lived in this era of soul music with these wonderful people and musicians so humbling to see this respect.
Rest in Peace Etta, you brought a true gift to this world that will last long after you have gone....
