Moetan is another Ecchi comedy that got the ban hammer. I feel bad for that one getting deleted, so I’m gonna remake it myself. Especially cause in Moetan, the girls are 17 (they just look young). I also think the director is very talented and notable (same director as Hayate and Sket Dance)
Remember, this anime series aired on TV in Japan... it was the censored version but still... Meanwhile, the blu-ray and DVD of this series has outsold Frieren and other popular anime of the winter season.
It also managed to receive an official Neutral Spanish dub with a cast full experienced voiced actresses. Don't know if a series like this would be dubbed into English
Popular shows which get enough targets are the first to go, said anime mentioned is likely to be some time later. I hope I am wrong.... Being right of specific things is best. Not about anime being removed which gives information.
legit all of Enormita cover Korisu's eyes when Baiser is doing lewd stuff to the magia, and they use her a lot for jokes alike the BIGGEST one which alice does twice ( one being later on in the manga, the other being anime exclusive if i remember right ) but its literally her putting Kiwi and someone else in jail for asking her to do lewd stuff with her power, even Alice knows shes too young for all that
They've never been consistent in terms of policy. They've been reasonably consistent in terms of "we think mentioning this thing now might hurt ads (I sympathize a bit with this, as donations don't seem to keep the website up) or lead to attention we don't want to have to deal with". ...This is not too unusual for a wiki, I'm afraid.
Honestly I don’t care what reasonable pretense they put on censoring the series, or that they held it to a democratic process! I’m just against censorship on principle! It’s not like any lewd content is shown on a site, that just casually describes its plot beats and writing conventions! And as stated they still hypocritically have Cuties up there, and various shows created by Dan Schneider, knowing in retrospect the monster he was! Even so if the sole point of the website is discussing media with no visual aids! Then I feel even those works should remain up! And if you want to put a disclaimer that says TV Tropes doesn’t endorse or approve of this show then do that… On shows like ICarley or Zoey 101 you can even leave a text blurb discussing “in 2024 unfortunate allegations came against these shows creators, via the Documentary Quiet on Set. Please rewatch this series or view said documentary at your own discretion, and come to your own conclusions on this matter, to the best of your ability.”

You're right about taking this series off their list will not affect us much. As a matter of fact they didn't even go hard enough and to do more by sweeping off other Rated M anime series like Slave Soldiers, Redo of Healer and 7 Wedding Rings.
Not surprised in the slightest from a western website. When will they ban cuties? When will they ban series and movies that depict violence which i sinmoral in real life? Anyway. I hope more shows like this come out so we can filter these normies.
We can't have nice things. 😥 Gushing Over Magical Girls turned out to be more nuanced than I thought it would be, to the point that it's among my top ten favorite anime. It's a shame tvtropes removed its page from their website.
I checked out the discussion pages of both, users voted to keep or cut the page, and they basicaly said that GOMG was too perverted for the site rules and site rules say that "Firstly, we don't want pages on works that consist entirely of explicit sex or other fetishistic stuff, with no story other than as a pretext for more fetishistic stuff. Secondly, we do not want pages on works that depict sexual activity between children in an explicit manner or in glorifying fashion. In particular, we don't want works with titillating references to sexual activity involving preteens." with some users reasons for cutting the page like; "This manga's entire existence feels like attempt to "subtly" smuggle CP past the censors. I'm honestly surprised how it even got published in the first place. Cut. Then burn and bury." or "I think I'm going for cut; I'd say the type and frequency of fanservice presented combined with the characters' ages push this into pedo-pandering territory" meanwhile on the page that discussed cutting cuties, users argued with reasons to keep it like "Reinstating my "keep" vote. We have movies that show actual child nudity and simulated child sexual abuse listed with little backlash (so far), and I don't think kids making sex jokes and twerking with the intention of making the audience uncomfortable is cutworthy if there's no explicit sex acts onscreen. However, we should continue to monitor it closely." or "Voting keep per the aforementioned "good intentions, horrible execution" arguments." or "A minor doing something inappropriate doesn't equate to the whole movie being softcore porn. Honestly, we have passed worse. From the very little I've seen of the movie from clips and commentary, the sexualization of girls isn't shown in a positive light" so basically. because Cuties sells itself as some sort of critique against that stuff and depics those act with "artistic intention" its kept around. while GOMG is seen as some sort of tasteless softcore-porn...
@@Lizzardtong And yet those same people don't realize that GOMG is not just a parody but also a critique yet they don't want to acknowledge that. It is just poorly hidden bigotry. @@Lizzardtong The idea that Cuties is a critique against sexual stuff can also be applied to GOMG; Utena and company are overt villains, and the reason why GOMG's sexual scenes come across as 'glorifying' is because the viewers see the story from the villain(Utena)'s point-of-view.
I absolutely CACKLED when I saw this video title 🤣😂 I am not sure I have ever used the TV Tropes site, so it doesn’t impact me at all. Quite a shame that some people don’t like/laugh at the masterpiece that is Gushing Over Magical Girls 🤣😂 Such a fun show. But yeah - I get why people wouldn’t like it.
This is just EVEN more dirt for the SCUMBAG mods and admins there. SO MUCH issues now. Never mind the fact that a mod that openly said folks should KILL themselves being held hostage is still there with nothing, but a slap on the wrist.
Gushing is only the start, these companies in control of these websites will come after No Game No Life and To Love Ru series next. I always say, unless if the people in charge know the full difference between fiction and reality, these asian cartoons aren't safe when there are people outside of the fandom in charge.
And the fiction vs. reality is the standard that Justice Breyer pointed out in Ashcroft vs. Free Speech Coalition. That so long as an ACTUAL child is not involved in the production, it is protected speech. Rembrandts depicting naked children, cherubs in the gallery of the SCOTUS chamber, and the play Romeno and Juliet were cited specifically.
Good luck to TVTropes wanting to deal with anime and being concerned about age of charcters at the same time. What age are all the characters in Dragon Ball, when all the panty shenanigans take place? BTW, I don't get the point about effing nipples. Are Americans okay?
Sadly, yet another case of trying to apply Western standards to Eastern media. I am obviously in the minority here, as I use TVTropes quite often. As another commenter put it: when you have a show with a large cast like MHA or Index/Railgun, or a game like Azur Lane (which has over 600 characters!), it was helpful. I had even made/corrected some entries myself. But, I have noticed recently that some "problematic" tropes had been radically altered or completely disappeared. I know that saying it was "woke" is grabbing the proverbial low hanging fruit, but it is pretty obvious that is what is at play. As the Critical Drinker would say: "The Message..." is definitely what some contributors are pushing. It is regrettable, but not surprising for a public wiki site. I will be limiting my visits to the site, as I try to ween myself off of it.
@@PrograError The anime was aired in the US so I would expect at least a US regional release. It's possible HiDive or whoever will look at the totally uncensored version and "nope" right out of there, but they could still release the streaming version. I'm actually hoping for a Blu-ray collection with all three, but that's probably too much to ask.
For the fact the removed the manga, you are right that how you speak about the manga, it was going way less extreme than the anime. but i know other sites that when they decide content from an artist should not be on their site, even if some of the work of the artist do work with the site purpose, because of the association with the majority that doesnt work on the site, they will remove everything about that artist. maybe its a case like this, that since the anime is way more popular than the manga, the manga by association by the anime thats more popular, gets also ban.
Spread the word until they get flooded by complains of their hypocrisy. Let them suffer of the Streisand Effect. Especially ironic since they have a page ABOUT it.
Probably a hot take, but sometimes I wonder if all the recent censorship is just a low key form of discrimination. Unless Hollywood or a western company, film maker, artist, etc. does it, everything else is apparently offensive.
Politics, activists, etc. in the end is all just about money. Someone is not happy japan is the one making buck with their adult animes and is hammering it down until someone else replaces them. This is why all these things always turns out to be hypocritical, western game boobies vs anime game boobies, real life cp vs anime lolis, etc. Because ti's not about erasing, it's about replacing.

I absolutely love your view on things like this, I share your view nearly 100%. But it does kind of bother me, I absolutely hate people treating fictional characters like real people, and I see things like this as being extremely lame. And that person you’re talking about, the person you say is projecting, a person like that seriously gets under my skin, these types of people ARE prudes, and seriously repressed. And having cuties on there just shows you they’re total hypocrites, because that’s actually real, not fictional.
I was there in the beginning of TV Tropes as part of the Buffistas. It was meant to be a straightforward reference for writers to avoid or embrace the tropes we saw over and over. I mostly lost interest when the founder's sock puppet dramatically "died" from "a monkey bite." Somehow. He even called himself "Gus, the Weremonkey" for a while.
I've never heard of TVtropes, but art is art and it's honestly never caught my interest in those kids doing adult stuff (it could have been funny or fun to watch)
"Art is art" is basically what Justice Breyer said in Ashcroft vs. Free Speech Coalition. And the court used Romeo and Juliet as an example of minors engaging in adult activity as literary art that would be directly harmed.
I don't understand this manga vs anime argument. The original airing of the anime in Japan was censored. We Westerners were the ones who aired it uncensored. The uncensored version was supposed to be an option, you chose to watch it by watching it on a streaming service. So I don't know why we in the West weren't given that option as well. There are.s couple of extrs scenes on the anime that aren't in the manga, but they don't go any further than the manga and they don't change the plot at all. Certainly if your concern is the nudity, and not the content itself, then I don't see how you could have a problem with the censored version. I haven't seen it, although Id like to, but I have seen enough to know that the censoring is light bars. No "dots". If the problem was the content, that would be one thing. I wouldn't agree with it, but I would at least understand. And I would ask you why you don't have the same problem with the same content in Magical Girl Spec Ops Asuka, Revolutionary Girl Utena, or even Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It seems like the nudity IS the problem, if you don't have a problem with the subject matter as long as the clothes stay on. So if it is just the nudity, then why is it okay if the magical girls are 18? And really, that's all you have to do, say "the magical girls are 18". The girls don't LOOK 14. They don't even look as young as the girls in PMMM. Saying that Sulfur and Lederblume look like children because they are flat chested is bull. Neither Sulfur nor Lederblume have the same build as Nero Alice. Even the "all anime girls are made to look like children" falls apart when you draw them next to an actual preteen. This action just seems like it's inconsistent, and I hope TV Tropes does end up removing some of their other problematic pages, like Cuties. Certainly Gushing Over Magical Girls will not lose any popularity because it was removed from some silly little trope website.
The issue is consistency and hypocrisy. These people are obsessed with fictional characters which is protected speech under Ashcroft vs. Free Speech coalition, yet they blatantly defend REAL child exploitation which is NOT protected as per SCOTUS ruling. Makes you wonder if they are purposely obfuscating the issue to protect predators.
I mean... who cares? They're not gatekeeping people from it anyways if you want to watch you can still watch. I just turned on my adblocker and ignored them trying to guilt trip me after they removed Kodomo no Jikan, so this ban isn't really going to change my opinion of the website.
Double standards aside, banning a series that no one had a problem with when it was a manga is just weird. Who were they afraid of finding out about it?
You know the old marketing tagline that something was too hot for TV? I guess this show is too hot for TVTropes, although I'm not sure how effective marketing it that way would be since a lot of the kids these days probably aren't even familiar with that site.
at 16 minutes when you mentionne that people were posting rounchy images and stuff... i mean, this show would obliviously provoke that kind of image posting and that kind of human behaviour. we cannot ignore that a certain part of the watchers of this series would react in a way that would could classify as garbage... of course, im not generalizing, i know lots of people watch it for the lol and the fun, but i wont be kidding myself that im surprised of the kind of image sharing that was going on in a certain part of this fandom.
Using "family friendly" as an excuse is frankly hilarious, because even if you justifiably want to cut sexual content, there are SO many examples of media on their site that depict graphic violence, gore and dismemberment, and that seems like it easily is a *less* family-friendly visual than sex content.
TL;DR Despite i don't agree with them, all they do is that they are respecting their own rules, and thus deleting cuties would be a hyprocisy becasue obvious things that are happening in MahoAko just don't happen in Cuites on screen. Cuties does not break TVTropes rules because it does not explicitly depict characters under 16 engaging in sexual activity MahoAko breaks because as above "explicit depictions of sexual activity involving characters under the age of 16 are prohibited" The poll to remove MahoAko was 8/14 that means one vote and it would be a tie. They have a pretty clear stance if an ecchi series have a single character under 18/13 that's propably okay that is no sex scenes with characters under 18 and no over-sexualization of characters under 13. which is honestly way more reasonable than vague-whatever rules reddit or discord have. Depiste that I don't agree with them and my views are also very clear and I think that age in fiction media shouldn't matter that much, it's their own website and their own policies so they did everything according to what I say "best practices", that is meaningful conversation with examples and structure concluded with a vote. Calling this LITERALLY CP is a vast overraction on Anime News side. Also there are a few instances when they're reversed a ban when a piece of media fell back in to their standards like "Hoshizora no Memoria " that got re-added after being published censored on steam. I don't see any hyprocisy there, just following their own rules
the hell is a tvtope? i've never heard of this website before. judging how they didn't took action for the cuties movie. looks like a bad moderated site in my first impressions. laughing at this hunk of code lol.
about the money argument, porn is already making more money than anything... so theres probably some morals out there that do stop everything from being pur porn or going to the sex all the time. now though, one could argue they are limiting themselves too much because of what we could call a fear of going too far. I wonder if thats another of the thing criticise by the show Yuri Kuma Arashi.
Gushing definitely crosses lines that Prisma Illya does not. I had in the past written on my Blog that Prisma Illya is the most inaccessible not Normie friendly TV Anime there is, but Gushing has challenged that premise. Half their content would be illegal under their rules. It started when they purged Kojika and Rotte no Omocha. For people who want to use a tropes page, use one of the alternatives to make sure they don't get traffic.
Don't know if a series like this would be dubbed into English
>the enemy is exposing themselves as the enemy
cool
And yet, Prisma Iliya is still there lmao.
I haven’t seen that, which one is it, “Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya”? “Fate / Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Prisma Phantasm”? One of those?
Popular shows which get enough targets are the first to go, said anime mentioned is likely to be some time later.
I hope I am wrong.... Being right of specific things is best. Not about anime being removed which gives information.
I respect TV Trope's decision. So I have deleted their bookmark on my browser and I will never visit their site again.
I can’t believe they removed this but not Cuties 😭
I hope we get the season 2
Me tooooooo 😭!!!
I hope we get a season 3 and 4.
It most definitely will get a second season with how popular it became
legit all of Enormita cover Korisu's eyes when Baiser is doing lewd stuff to the magia, and they use her a lot for jokes alike
the BIGGEST one which alice does twice ( one being later on in the manga, the other being anime exclusive if i remember right ) but its literally her putting Kiwi and someone else in jail for asking her to do lewd stuff with her power, even Alice knows shes too young for all that
They've never been consistent in terms of policy. They've been reasonably consistent in terms of "we think mentioning this thing now might hurt ads (I sympathize a bit with this, as donations don't seem to keep the website up) or lead to attention we don't want to have to deal with". ...This is not too unusual for a wiki, I'm afraid.
"Although I disagree with what you have to say, I'll fight to the death your **right** to say it." - Evelyn Beatrice Hall
Reminder that "AllTheTropes" is considered a better version of TV tropes. Saying that, I haven't checked it in years.
It is only a matter of time before the Stalinists get their tentacles into every orifice of that site. Malice of forethought in my choice of words.
Agree lol.
Only a matter of time before the wokeistas get their tentacles into every orifice of that website (malice of forethought in my choice of words).
Also, there is no GoMG page on all the tropes. Makes me wonder if there was one or if it was taken down as well.
You're right about taking this series off their list will not affect us much. As a matter of fact they didn't even go hard enough and to do more by sweeping off other Rated M anime series like Slave Soldiers, Redo of Healer and 7 Wedding Rings.
Obviously it was not popular enough to get tourist and DEI peeps....
Some people just like the control of telling others what they can and cannot see.
Exactly, they get off on it
Not surprised in the slightest from a western website.
In particular, we don't want works with titillating references to sexual activity involving preteens."
with some users reasons for cutting the page like; "This manga's entire existence feels like attempt to "subtly" smuggle CP past the censors. I'm honestly surprised how it even got published in the first place. Cut. Then burn and bury." or "I think I'm going for cut; I'd say the type and frequency of fanservice presented combined with the characters' ages push this into pedo-pandering territory"
meanwhile on the page that discussed cutting cuties, users argued with reasons to keep it like "Reinstating my "keep" vote. From the very little I've seen of the movie from clips and commentary, the sexualization of girls isn't shown in a positive light"
so basically. because Cuties sells itself as some sort of critique against that stuff and depics those act with "artistic intention" its kept around. while GOMG is seen as some sort of tasteless softcore-porn...
@@Lizzardtong And yet those same people don't realize that GOMG is not just a parody but also a critique yet they don't want to acknowledge that. It is just poorly hidden bigotry. They also ignore the fact that GOMG is protected speech under Ashcroft vs. Free Speech coalition, but Cuties does NOT meet the standard set out by the court.
Fighteer correct
@@aldomeylano9278 Yup.
Hiragi Utena is best girl!
Good luck to TVTropes wanting to deal with anime and being concerned about age of charcters at the same time. What age are all the characters in Dragon Ball, when all the panty shenanigans take place?
BTW, I don't get the point about effing nipples. Are Americans okay?
Such nonesnse , specially after reading comments and so much actual cp on that page or what ever tv tropes is
Sadly, yet another case of trying to apply Western standards to Eastern media.
Man, you just reminded me Specs Ops Asuka exists, the ending of the manga was so good.
Did the Blue Ray came out yet? This one is actually worth suporting ,-)))
Sentai Filmworks usually takes 6 to 12 months after a show airs to release the Blu-ray. It'll be the mega uncensored version.
I believe it's already been released in Japan but we're still waiting on a regional release.
The first few episodes have been released in Japan on blue ray.
@@richardryley3660 I doubt it would get regionals, pretty sure the manga has earned bans in certain places...
Culturelessness is so unbecoming
Probably a hot take, but sometimes I wonder if all the recent censorship is just a low key form of discrimination. Unless Hollywood or a western company, film maker, artist, etc. does it, everything else is apparently offensive.
Politics, activists, etc. in the end is all just about money. Someone is not happy japan is the one making buck with their adult animes and is hammering it down until someone else replaces them. This is why all these things always turns out to be hypocritical, western game boobies vs anime game boobies, real life cp vs anime lolis, etc. Because ti's not about erasing, it's about replacing.
Hopefully there will be a second season and a blu ray release!
They can't keep getting away with this
of course they can, its their site lol
The ones who bought them can't keep getting away with it.
as you see, i already left 3 other comments, just love the subject and wanted to communicate my thoughts on it since you seemed to have wanted this. take care and thank you for you work.
To love Ru is a harem non slice of life ecchi anime.
If it was slice of life, where the eff is my princess or lovely natural pink haired lady.
I love To Love-Ru sooooooooo much.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- You know it.
Sadly the dub had the sister using the term Mysonistic. It was big dumb.
I will only watch the sub for To Love Ru.
Watched all of the anime. One day new To love Ru will be made. Unless new manga from the creator is adapted.
@@thecompareablezombie I actually haven’t seen the anime, I can’t buy it here in Europe, it’s not available. But I have both manga.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- I watched To Love Ru online, haven't bought any Anime yet.
Need to have the money to buy it. I do need to continue where I left off from the manga.
Art is supposed to make you feel emotions
TV Tropes:
Real CP, okay.
Anime: BAN!
Meanwhile they have alot more worse things on the website incl real life things
Not surprised.
Question is why they not banning showing under 18 child soldiers when that is massively worse problem. How about removing shows that Fridge female characters and are very bigoted vs women like Attack on Titan and JJK.
You haven't watched or read either when you made that comment.
Correct, and their likes are public as Rev says desu puts it.
Might be good to see the likes of the admins and mods of Tv tropes
I honestly really hope those child actors never realized what they were filming.
Of course they will have to deal with it when they grow up.
Did Blackrock buy Tv tropes too?
They certainly push the same politics and ban anyone who disagrees.
Not surprised that it happened
What?.
Screw tvtropes
It is understandable how you and others feel about this.
@@thecompareablezombie fuck them
Ok then, will go watch the show next
Lol. I never heard of this website until watching this.
I mean... who cares? They're not gatekeeping people from it anyways if you want to watch you can still watch. I just turned on my adblocker and ignored them trying to guilt trip me after they removed Kodomo no Jikan, so this ban isn't really going to change my opinion of the website.
If they were not hypocrits they would need to purge a quarter of their site, at least.
Wtf is TVTropes???
WHAT THE HELL TV TROPES!?!?!?
those fools need to reflect on their own choices. they offended when watching an ecchi. sigh
Agreed, it's not like you browsing twitter and get slapped with the PhOFeGal nude pic
20:21 I’m actually buying that Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka manga right now, having trouble getting 4 of the volumes.
I never even heard of the website and I've used Internet since the early 00's..
Didnt even know this site existed
How much you want to bet the "content discussion" was like 5 guys all agreeing that it should be deleted?
Using "family friendly" as an excuse is frankly hilarious, because even if you justifiably want to cut sexual content, there are SO many examples of media on their site that depict graphic violence, gore and dismemberment, and that seems like it easily is a *less* family-friendly visual than sex content.
TL;DR Despite i don't agree with them, all they do is that they are respecting their own rules, and thus deleting cuties would be a hyprocisy becasue obvious things that are happening in MahoAko just don't happen in Cuites on screen.
Cuties does not break TVTropes rules because it does not explicitly depict characters under 16 engaging in sexual activity
MahoAko breaks because as above
"explicit depictions of sexual activity involving characters under the age of 16 are prohibited"
The poll to remove MahoAko was 8/14 that means one vote and it would be a tie.
I don't see any hyprocisy there, just following their own rules
so happy i like never even bothered with cuties, and im suprised you know about magical girl black ops asuka its decent but the opening goes hard
HUH?!
Thx for the video!
Hope you enjoyed!

oh? I didn't watch it. NOW I INTERESTED. ( ͡• ͜ʖ ͡• )
trust me, I do it for RESEARCH PURPOSE.
Dei happened
It did yes
TV Tropes hired you? Congrats?
And yet "Cuties" page is still up, despite that being actual child pornography.
Crazy peolple, and still the hipocrecy
about the money argument, porn is already making more money than anything... so theres probably some morals out there that do stop everything from being pur porn or going to the sex all the time. now though, one could argue they are limiting themselves too much because of what we could call a fear of going too far.
Even in the Anime Prisma Illya never shows Nipples of visible Cameltoe on character's crotches.
So I oppose removing Gushing, but I honestly can't think any standard where anything TVTropes has is worse. This isn't one we cna play the Hypocrisy card on.
What’s TVTropes?
Oh, that was bad but the LGBT pushing is still on that site.
Noted. TV Tropes should be banned 😌👌
First time I've heard of such a site, I mean it's just another shitty site who took an anime, just because anime is more mainstream now, without checking it first 😆😆😆

WTF is TVTropes ?
So... until June 16, 2023, the Legal Age of Consent in Japan was 13, which would explain why there's so much middle school/high school content. On June 16, 2023, they raised the AoC to 16, which is still 'High School'.
