GCSE Biology - Cell cycles, Chromosomes & Mitosis #69
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 вер 2018
- In order to survive and grow, organisms require a constant supply of new cells. In this video we explore how these cells are generated through the cell cycle, with a particular focus on mitosis. We will also look at the role chromosomes play and the different forms they take.
In this video, we'll look at:
- How new cells are generated by the cell cycle
- What mitosis is, and how it works
- The role of chromosomes, and the different forms they take
If you’d like to practise the material covered in this video, check out our platform at www.cognitoedu.org - it's totally free, and has built specifically to make learning and revision as quick and easy as possible. The main features are:

Hi, this is extremely helpful because I’ve got my GCSEs year 9 in just under a week and I have really enjoyed the parts on this with the drawings and notes so thank you so muchhhhh!
I watched this one day before my biology science test, and I got a Grade 8. That's the highest I've ever gotten in a science test. Thank you so much Cognito!
That's brilliant, well done! 👏
BRO SAME. MY BIOLOGY PPE EXAM IS TOMORROW LMAO
@@Cognitoedusame my bio exam (final) is tommorow thanks cognito

There's also another approach to memorise the phases of mitosis which is the P.M.A.T strategy (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase.) including Cytokinesis which is just the separation/division into daughter cells also when alienation/division takes place a nucleus is formed as well :)
I think there is another step called interphase
You are the only channel that helps me understand science really well !! thanks :)
Thank you so much for all your videos. I am watching them all for Biology, Chemistry and Geography GSCE to make sure I know all the content. In preparation for A level. They are so helpful so thank you!
i honestly dunno how theyre teaching me this in gr7 but its way easier here to understand. Thank you, Cognito!
Do you cover all biology topics for triple science?
Hi Julia, we have some left to release, but yes we’ll cover everything bar the practicals :)
So helpful. Finally understand Mitosis, thank you 🙏
I was struggling with inheritance but you've helped a lot. Thank you, sir!

Please make videos for a level biology as well. Your videos have helped me so much with science and I would find it so beneficial if I were able to use them for the next few years.
Even if you are not able to I want to say thanks. 🙏🙏

Thanks so much for this video! I just wanted to ask if this was made for edexel or aqa (or any other exam board) thanks again :)

Great Video Mate.
coming back after a year of GCSE's and bro thanks to you i got a B in science!
come back! ramadan kareem❤
Hello Is it also suitable for triple science students? Btw thank-you 😊❤
yes, it is :) if you go on their website, you can filter it exactly to your course, such as "higher or foundation, triple or combined and it also has options for whether you're doing AQA GCSE or Edexcel GCSE, etc" It has all the topics with videos and example practice questions. Highly recommend it :)
This really helped :)
Me dose not revise and gets a pass: I have big brain 🧠
Wait so what is the second stage called after interphase??
So then what is differentiation?
Best teacher ever
So you say humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes.. does that mean 23 pairs of chromosomes in every body cell?
Hi Fly - almost. Sex cells like egg and sperm cells actually only have 23, and our red blood cells don't have any chromosomes.
@Alishba Khan theres 23 pairs of chromosomes...
what is 22 pairs is autosomes..

so each cell in our bodies has 46 chromosomes?
Heya - nearly all of them. Sex cells like egg and sperm cells only have 23, and red blood cells don't have any.
Cognito does this mean then that when the sperm and egg join that the 23 in the sperm and the other 23 in the egg join to become 46?
@@libbyclayton1649 yes thats right haploid and haploid gamete fuses to form diploid zygote
