Local Forecast- 6/05/10 Tornado Warning (

- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- So just before 11:00 PM EDT, Tornado Watch 269 was issued for southwestern Michigan, and was soon expanded over towards Detroit. It took about 20 minutes for the watch crawl to appear on The Weather Channel, and not long after it did, a Tornado Warning was issued. Just barely 5 minutes after the warning was issued (for the cell you can see just between Eaton Rapids and Howell at the end of each loop on the local radar), it was cancelled. However, not long after that, yet another warning was issued for the line of storms off to the west. The EAS bulletin makes an appearance following the PM Edition Intro. It's odd how following the bulletin, WGN appears, which was a channel that was dropped from this area a few years back. Then, the channel oddly changes back to TWC. Song during the local forecast is "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd.
A Severe Nostalgia Warning has been issued for your area
that is very funny 😂
Ong
Ah, oddity archive.
Civil authorities have found the most severe nostalgia storm in the country. Please evacuate now!😊
This is so nostalgic to me because I used to watch the Weather Channel a lot when I was in young back in 2011 and 2012.
Yeah I do miss this era of the weather channel😩
The Lion King
@@SuperMarioLoudHouse Same here.

I chuckled at that. Talk about perfectly cut!

That beeping sound used to scare me as a kid. I didn’t like that sound.

ME TOOOOO
Same
The EAS always uses to scare me too
Those poor bunnies. They don't get to go on a vacation with the others.
The rabbits need to take cover because there is a tornado coming.
I Like The Old Weather Channel...
+Iron Squid Yeah It Looks To Advanced, And They Put More Shows From Other Stuff To There. It's Not Related To Weather. Like Back In 2007-2009 Storm Riders Was The BEST
me too, plus I love the old alert sound it was a lot more intimidating
Me too i like that
Emerald The Hero 😁
Emerald Yesss! I was a weather nerd as a kid and I loved those shows! I have such nostalgia from this stage of the weather channel, plus I like the format better.
i miss this old nws voice.
JoshyWashy I even miss the soundtracks and its theme. That was my childhood 😭😢
Me too.

I LOVE THE OLD WEATHER CHANNEL TOO I MISS YOU PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧
Same here, same here
I also do
I just love the music for the local on the 8s. I’m a little bit of a weather geek myself, since I like to know what the weather is gonna be all the time. I used to be a meteorologist to my classmates back in my special class in high school; I’d tell them what the weather was going to be like for the day. My teacher liked it when I got to do that. I’m also obsessed with studying/learning about severe weather. It’s mostly tornadoes I like to learn about, but I also like to learn about other kinds of severe storms, like hurricanes and so on. I have a weather radio at home that I just got for my birthday, so now I’m prepared.
I am the same way too
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd
@@Warioisdum69Did he use a DVR?
2:51 The timing was perfect
00:00:11 Getting a weather alert on the weather channel makes a much better sound than the Emegrency alert system. It sounds like a party horn!!
I live in rural NC and I used to live on a forest golf course that was very well maintained and very nice. It was so pretty in the morning when it would fog and rain. I lived in a nice big house with high ceilings and a sunroom and you could see right onto the tee box and the big trees from the massive windows in the sunroom and in the morning when I would get up for school this would always be on and it’s just so soothing and comforting to me.
The Pink Floyd music is amazing I love it why can’t TWC use real music anymore?
Interesting how it was Tornado Watch #269 and most of SW lower Michigan's area code is (269). Ahhh the little things in life.
I remember that night very well. I was with my girlfriend, windows open, rain lightly coming down. It was VERY nice. There was no lightning, no thunder. 10 minutes later, there was a very random and close strike of lightning, then nothing again for 5 minutes. BANG, there was another VERY close strike, and simultaneously my weather radio went off for this tornado warning
Harry Perry I had totally forgotten about that! I'm quite up on area codes, and I didn't even think of that.
I was peering outside in the wake of no internet, (It was storming) when suddenly lightning struck VERY CLOSE to me. It knocked me right out of my socks, just when I forgot that we live directly behind a metal telephone pole support.
Bruh I loved the old LOT8's, much nostalgia from this
This probably might be the earliest recording of the Digital Alert Systems EAS screen which a lot of TV Providers commonly use as of today.
I miss the old weather channel 😢📺
I do as well
I use a TV tuner, which hooks directly into the cable feed and records it onto my computer(s).
Great vid!
But first we wanted to share with you the Emergency Alert System 2:50
Dude I used to watch this all the time in 2014 and also I love Pink Floyd
That alarm sound is really nostalgic back in 2005 and the storm clouds that look like sleeping caps.
That beep sound thing used to scare the crap out of me back then. The new one is just annoying it goes like BOoP **message** and interrupts the forecast OOF
I love the weather channel back in the early 2000s better than it is today!
Yeah, me too
Anna Gaines I liked it how it’s was all blue since it’s my favorite color
Same
Not often the Weather Channel gets interrupted by the Emergency Alert System, especially when they're both issuing the same thing.
2:50 But first, we want to share with you an interruption from the Emergency Alert System.
honestly in a way that radio tornado emergency warning is more freaky than the actual tornado haha
the beep beep beep beep thing is a little annoying but at least it doesnt go BEEP BEEP BEEP ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR crap that one scares me my friends hate it too!!!
“A tornado warning has been issued for your area” ((me and the homies jamming to Pink Floyd on the weather channel))
Pink Floyd nice
what song?
SANDWICHGOD 75 Shine On You Crazy Diamond
parallelpinkparakeet thanks
“It just makes sense to get everybody out and go on a vacation”
Tornado Watch: *I don’t think so*
No I didn't mean all of us
I miss this video so much and now finally watching this 😊😊😇 I love weather
2:50 But first we want to share you an EAS for a Tornado warning.
lol, this was a neat event. The EAS, though, automatically appears for every tornado warning here if it is in any portion of any of the three counties this headend covers.
Damn 9 years ago :)
Nothing beats the nostalgia of the warning signal being blasted every 2 minutes while my dad turned off all the lights in the house with the backdoor wide open watching the lightning and wind roll in.
Oh I remember this night so well. The spring/summer if 2010 was a busy one for tornado weather in Michigan. I'm from Detroit, but was living in Ann Arbor at the time. I was living in a transitional housing situation as rehab(I'm a recovering heroin addict). I had worked an 11 hour day(housing residents are supposed to work) and just wanted to go to bed. I had no idea about the weather heading our way. I cracked the window in my bedroom because it was raining so peacefully and put the radio on so I could listen to NPR and catch the news(it was about 11 PM). WDET, the local affiliate, broke in saying we had a tornado warning for Washtenaw Co. I thought that was impossible because it was only gently raining here. There wasn't even any lightning or wind. I threw my clothes and shoes on as fast as I could and woke everyone else up so we could get to the basement. We all went back to bed shortly afterwards. I was laying facing my window, when all of a sudden there was these two odd, bright white flashes of lightning. Right afterwards, at the same time the Ann Arbor sirens and my radio, again, went off with a tornado warning. We had to take cover a total of 3 times that night. The final storm was the most dangerous. As soon as it moved just a few miles southeast of Ann Arbor, it dropped a tornado that chewed up the city of Dundee(Monroe Co., MI). Fortunately, no one died. Thank goodness we never lost power either. There were tree branches down all over the neighborhood and the University of Michigan campus being cleared up the next morning.
I had a moderate risk of severe weather the next day and had a Tornado Watch. However, all I got was a few showers with some wind.
This was a big part of my life. Love this weather channel... Man I missed these days.. The music everything bout this.
Nothing like pink floyd for your local on the 8's
It has something to do with how the signal goes through the cable boxes. I've never completely understood it myself. Comcast forced us to have them to see (or in my case record) the signal in December 2009.
That bunny tho
+anime fan girl
That’s a HARE.
I think this is what got me into the EAS.
It was BAD in Monroe County about 2:30 AM, with winds past 60 mph where I was at, and an EF2 tornado in Dundee, MI. The tornado was headed directly toward me, didn't touch the ground in Monroe, but still, it was the worst storm I have ever seen.
Your EAS is cool! And to actually activate it, they must have declared that those areas were under a real, real danger!
Rest in Peace--old and much better--local on the 8's
That beeping noise always startled me, especially when I was younger.
When i was a little kid i Watch this video and I scream and I kick my phone when the eas alert pop up
I had to do it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At the beginning I liked the funny bun buns and also I love all of the old stuff back then like this!
Got hit hard here in Ypsilanti. 2 tornado warnings, flooded basement, Huron River almost hit flood stage, lost power (still gone). Messy, kept me up till 2am
I had a Tornado Watch the next day and a moderate risk of severe weather. The storms didn’t materialize in my area however. All I got was some 30-35 mph wind gusts and some light showers.
God I miss the good ol TWC I watched these a lot since 2009 through 2013 before the whole thing changed when I was very little.
I watched The Weather Channel a lot in 1993 and 1994 but I was told that that was unhealthy and I was advised against doing so
POV: it’s the year 2010 and your watching TWC at a hotel
...except, this was recorded at my home at the time.
@@socool775 pretty nice, and I hope you were ok
Could we start a petition to het the old Lot8s back?
brings me back

This Happened a day after my Birthday!
I remember this broadcast!
I live in Southeast Michigan and that storm was heading right towards me!
I had a Tornado Watch the next day. I was even under a moderate risk for severe weather, but I didn’t really get anything other than a few light showers and some gusty winds 30-35 mph.
0:41 that music sounds like Pink Floyd
it is, shine on you crazy diamond
Shine on you crazy diamond, eh?
I still wanna know what the first ad is, i recall seeing it years ago
"But first we want to share with you..." [EAS Alert]
Oh okay thanks for sharing
even the weather channel tone for it is scary.. lol
I guess WGN is a station that has an EAS receiver, which I think is weird, considering that this channel was dropped as mentioned in the description.
There was a storm going on?! In somewhere back in 2010?!
I miss that old local on the 8's voice... I used to hear it every day but now I don't :(
I can't believe what a night that was. It barely made 70 here that day, with absolutely no sunshine, except for a few rays close to sunrise. If it wasn't for strong wind sheer, we would of just got a boring soaker...
The next day, it hit 90 degrees for me, had a moderate risk of severe weather and a Tornado Watch, but I only got some light showers and 35 mph wind gusts.
Why is it that every Tornado Warning EAS I watch that was displayed on TV is in and/or near the county I live in?
Core memory unlocked.
Oh man this brings back memories, I used to live in summit township just south of Jackson Mi
lol same here, that's why I'm posting some old videos even now. Yep, familiar with where that's at. Gone over to Spring Arbor a few times.
I wish they kept the old local on the 8s.
Those talking bunnies are just as scary as the warning .
It appears as though the tables have turned. I used to not get them.
I notice 1:45 doesn’t say the chance of rain… does that mean 100%???
2:53 good old days when the weather channel used the emergency alert system to warn the public in stead of relying on people to read the small message in the bottom of their screen
cloudy with a chance of meatballs👍👏
ItsMePotato Gt lol
And possable chance with a pasta tornado warning
@@Mr.WeatherForecast15 the pasta tornado could contain giant meatballs lol
I miss this Weather Channel so much the music made it so relaxing
I love TWC and the music is good
for severe weather and I love talking about severe weather such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and bilzzards.
"First we'd like to show you the most terrifying noise in your life"
oh and I saw and heard that same Emergency alert thing I was the only one awake when I heard it twice!!! My god that Emergency alert thing scares the crap out of people!!!!!!
its kinda weird the weather channel freezes up at 2:53 ...
The tornado warnings are not my Fabre days 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
BREP BEEP BEEP *tornado warning BEEP BEEP BEEP
They're playing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd
NWS warning at 2:52.
For those headphone users.
Pls can you tell me what this rabbit tv commercial is ?!?!
What is no one wondering why the hell they are playing shine on your crazy diamond? Seems a bit of a deep cut for the weather.
Lol The weather channel out of all channels is the one showing casual storms rolling through and isnt having any types of breaking news for the warning its like, There is a tornado about to hit your house but TWC is showing tomorrows forecast lol
My eas interrupt the whole TV box.
I didn't even exist when this video was uploaded 😢
I never get the EAS here anymore.
Good Catch! 👍
When I grow up I will be a weather proof man
0:11 lol I just find that so funny

I love tornadoes and nature... but that beep sound always ruined the experience, It's just nightmare fuel.
I liked the beeping. Gives me nostalgia when I'd get a huge blizzard and would get off school for awhile.
This video turned 11 years old today
I MISS WEATHERSCAN!
I do too
And I thought the eas tone was loud..
@Adam Hall did your house get tared down?
that's song in the local in the 8's is pink floyd the wall
It was also at Wayland
my house roof flew of...😞
that tornado warning sound was scary
I wish it was not so scary today but today tornado warnings are to scary
