Fixing broken things sometimes requires an adhesive. I’ve found LOCTITE’s HY4070 Adhesive to work very well for repairing all kinds of things. I’ve used it on plastic, metal, even rubber, and it’s worked great. So if you’re looking for an adhesive, I recommend checking out LOCTITE’s HY4070.

When it comes to those plastic castings and bumpers it’s ALWAYS advised to use a piece of old window screen on the back that spans well past the cracked area. Also stop drill the end of those cracks so they don’t continue spreading. I actually prefer burning the screen right down into the back side using a soldering iron or wood burner . Then you know it’s not going anywhere. Push down until the melt rises up through the screen then smear it a bit and move on. It acts just like rebar with a concrete slab.👍🏻
This method is so good that it actually works for heavy stuff too. I've several marble pieces repaired, where the thickness of the material just isn't enough to support the glue job in time, it will fail. So the back has a carbon fiber mesh, well slathered in the same glue. It's actually stronger than the OG piece, to the point where i've had a customer ask me to repair one again, where it broke right after the weave ended.
Ya I saw a great video on how a guy repairs John Deere hoods using fiberglass mesh and some sort of heated staple. I have personally used fiberglass drywall tape and epoxy to repair plastic before. Love me some epoxy!
What’s stop drilling?
Stop drilling a crack means drilling a small hole at the end of the crack. It's supposed to stop the crack from growing after the repair.
I agree 💯 percent @NOMOREMARXISTS
That stuff is great! I'm a BMW technician and they have a BMW adhesive called K-6 it's made by Loctite, it's really good. I use a blow gun to get whatever glue is still in the nozzle out. It's probably the best adhesive I've ever used.
Blow gun? You’re able to get the glue out of that tiny nozzle?
@@DIYtryer yeah I remove the nozzle from the glue, put the blow gun, I use a Snap-on AT4101, on the tip of the nozzle and a rag on the side that goes onto the glue and blow it out, works every time. As long as the nozzle goes into the tip of the blow gun I'm sure it'll work it doesn't need to be a Snap-on blow gun
It also can fill gaps up to 5mm. Shear strength of 3,635 psi and tensile strength of 2,117 psi. Good call on this product Eric! Thanks.
I love all the different types of things loctite makes, for very specific applications.
Thanks Eric!
Ran over a piece of wood on my Honda Fit and Cracked the bumper a bit on the Driver Side. Now I'm going to try this now.
It looks like it could be pretty handy. Over the years, adhesives have advanced a great deal. Sheet metal patches can now be glued on rather than having to weld them which is excellent because it eliminates the possibility of warping the panel during welding and coatings on the back side of the original panel are preserved. Thank you for the video.
This is definitely something I could use. JB Weld and this are pretty much a winning combo for quick repairs that will likely last a lifetime if done right. Thanks for showing it, didn't know it existed.
Thank for the review and recommendation. It's always handy to have a good glue in the box ready to fix a break.
That’s great that you don’t have to worry about using it right away or it clogs up. The one thing I hate about tubes of RTV is that the plastic caps tend to crack and the RTV cures. I wish they made aluminum caps to replace the plastic caps.
Another thing I have found about RTV is that it is a moisture cured material, so I keep mine in the freezer, and thus far I have not had a problem with it curing in the tube since the humidity at sub zero temps is extremely low.
I push a 3” nail of the same diameter as the hole into the nozzle and screw the cap on over it. Next time I need to use it, pull out the nail and … no plug.
I find that in general, a tube of RTV does a great job of sealing itself. Make sure you leave a little bit sticking out when you store it, so you can pull out the cured 'plug'. Works fine.
But why are we discussing RTV here?
After watching you explain this special adhesive shortly after you posted this video, I bought some and used it, with no backing reinforcement, to glue together a vertical 6" crack in the bumper of my 2010 Expedition, which we purchased new. I couldn't avoid hitting a dog which had wandered onto the Interstate a few months after we bought the Expedition, and it had been broken for more than 10 years. It's been more than six months since I glued that crack together, and it's still holding. At room temperature, it usually sets enough for my purposes to hold in 5 to 7 minutes(in one case, I added more after having to flex the glued-joint after 10 minutes, which it did not like, but adding more saved me from having to completely re-do a window regulator replacement job), but like my other favorite, the Original JB Weld (JBW has a 24 hour cure, but requires 3-5 days for the best and strongest cure over any other product available to consumers) the longer it cures, the better it will work. Thanks Eric for bringing this special adhesive to our attention. Viewers, if you buy this(I've only seen it on Amazon), buy more Loctite-brand mixing nozzles at the same time, unless you are organized enough to line up all your glue-up projects in one place at one time, and continually and quickly keep on gluing up a bunch of different things all at one time before the glue in the nozzle hardens. Helps to clean the surfaces to be joined with 95% Isopropyl Alcohol (strong rubbing alcohol w/o the dilution from added water), acetone or heptane, or Permatex spray-on Surface Prep, and let them dry before applying the good stuff.
Thank you so very much for sharing this product!!!! I have so many things that I can use this for!
Great ad, Eric! Gonna give this stuff a try.
Thank you Eric, A God send!
you can buy mixing nozzles separately in i think 10 packs. that way you can use up all the adhesive.
You're not kidding me... Hmm, this might a life saver.
Thanks
Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a try.
Looks awesome. Especially for the hardest damn thing to glue. Plastics. Going to pick up a pack.
Great product endorsement on a decent item. Looking forward to trying this for a few projects pending! Thanks!!!😀

I remember watching Eric about 10 maybe more years ago , and see how he get older make me really sad that’s we all getting older but that’s really weird seeing him all that time without noticing the different till I saw and old very old Vlog and he was look very young …man 10 years , hope your Chanel will get more viewers
Is that glue good for attaching lunch boxes to concrete floors ? Asking for a friend.
I can't wait to use this for my short bed conversion
LOVE THIS. THX ERIC
Never heard of this stuff... thanks.
Dude! I’m so buying this! I love new adhesives!
Thanks Erik , this is defenetly gold information 👌
Yes, the back room boys keep coming out with new concoctions every week, and they are better each time👍
Not just better, but more variations on the same theme. And whilst it's not possible for Average Joe to get them, for big companies they also do special formulations, which is really cool, because if something makes sense and it's well received, it also ends up with us.
@@aserta exactly. We often get first crack at ‘industrial applications only’ formulations and it often pays to read the instructions and cautions that accompany them. Chemistry is a great subject to get into.
Thank you for sharing Eric I going to try it out I am watching from South Africa
I was just looking for something like this. Ordered from your link!
I was waiting for the “ if you call in the next 10 mins, WE WILL DOUBLE YOUR OFFER” nice review Eric I’m sold
Absolutely free! Just pay a separate handling fee!
WOW Eric .......... your beard got that 'black hole' effect going today ........ long time fan. much appreciated
Good work air
Dang it, just when i was looking to save money, here comes Eric to show me something i want.
Nice. We use many epoxy/glue/adhesives in the aerospace industry. You be surprised the things that are held together with epoxy on an orbital class rocket/spacecraft
Works really good! Better than welding
So helpful, GOD bless Buddy . 🤝👍
I'll give it a shot. I already use Oatey ABS cement for grilles and such, and I even put an outside mirror back on my old bonneville with nothing but MaxGlue. It ain't hokey if it works!! I can't help but feel bad for those people whose birthday is today and they are going thru life right now completely digital-confection-less. Oh the humanity! ETCG1 to the rescue!
You have a wonderful voice!
Thanks
We need project farm to test it!
Don't forget to give Eric a "Thumbs Up"!
Got some!
Eric, any glue for gasoline gaskets or similar? Thanks for the info
Thanks for making us aware of this product. Please post some kind of crude test of its bond strength to plastic. The technical datasheet (Henkel website) for this product lists excellent strength test results for things like aluminum & steel, and several plastics (ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, phenolic), and nitrile rubber. I did not see anywhere that Henkel specifically says it gives high bond strength to low surface energy plastics, such as the TPO fascia you bonded. This makes me very suspicious that it would give high, long-lasting bond strength on things like polyethylene, polypropylene and TPO.
For low surface energy plastics you need a primer such as n-hexane
Good video
I want it!
Awesome
Thanks for demonstrating its any uses. Will a little heat speed up the final cure?
Just bought some.
Looks good. Is there any PSI pressure stress test rating on the pack or has to be done to certify the bond??? OR we have to wait for someone to come with a video showing the use a torque wrench to separate the bonded surface 🤷♂️
I love Henkel products, definitely a premium product :-)
Hey Eric I have question have you done any videos on GMT400 how to fix the gap between the cab and bed. Not the alignment of body line.
The HY at the beginning of the part number indicates this is in the line of "Hysol" epoxies which were originally created by Dexter corporation for aerospace industry. Once bought by Henkel in the early 2000s they added hysol as a premium adhesive line to their already existing lines. This product (HY4070) is not an actual epoxy however it is a 2 part hybrid of cyanoacrylate(super glue) and acrylic.
Which brings up another issue. Henkel/loctite has added so many products over the last 2 decades that it is literally hard to keep track of their catalog. Especially since adding their "construction grade" into the big box stores. Of course their automotive grade was always the Permatex line up until 1999 when they sold permatex and added a competing automotive grade packaged for the parts stores. Their longest running "industrial grade" covers marine, military, medical, nuclear, aerospace and general science. These are usually indicated with the 3 or more digit part number printed on the face of the bottle in large print. The industrial grade can often be 2 to 3x the price of auto or construction grade.
Tyrone this actually means Hybrid, the hybrids are a range of products that were developed to provide the properties of different adhesive technologies whilst keeping H&S as good as possible. LOCTITE HY 4070 is a hybrid of cyanoacrylate (super glue) and Methacrylate (acrylic) so you get the speed and strength. HY 4090 is a hybrid of Epoxy and Cyanoacrylate for example.
The really are a great range of products.
Hey Eric since you love that you can reuse the product I discovered that you can buy just the tips for this adhesive on Amazon as well. Just a fyi.
Do you think you could use this like 3M panelbond? To put in a little non-structural patch pannel? (like the size of a dollar bill)
Lock tite makes good stuff i use there Lock tight for fasteners
And I also keep getting Toyota Avalon‘s with a check engine flashing and multiple misfires I would love to watch any video you make on that
I've always used Loctite, or what I like to call, "Liquid Welding!"
Loctite/Henkel make some awesome products. We use the Hysol E-30cl at work for adhesion testing and it works great. Something like 3k psi shear strength. It DOES take 24 hrs to fully cure, but its never coming off.
Holy shitballs!! That stuff is $65-75 here!!
@@bushratbeachbum it's half that price on Amazon. Goes a long way when you only use 1 square inch at a time 😁
@@Seryous postage from the US is $20 or something
@@bushratbeachbum Hmmm, Henkel is actually a German company headquarted in Düsseldorf. Not sure where you are, but if you are euro, you should have easy access to their products.
@@Seryous Australia, everything is expensive compared to elsewhere here.
Wages do help to offset it but buying elsewhere is still expensive
I prefer the Loctite KY formulation 😜
So it holds up to weather pretty good?
thanks, Eric just what I'm looking for don't think i can get it in Australia without spending a fortune on postage cost
Apehangers, Blackwoods and revolution industrial have it. First three that popped up, im guessing there's others, ebay too
Are you able to sand prime and paint after the 24 hr? What is the normal shelf life for it after opened?
It's a 2 part adhesive. Meaning part a mixes with part b through the mixing nozzle. Remove nozzle and put the cap back on and you can save for another day with a new mixing nozzle. That's why the package gave him 4 mixing nozzles.
Hi Eric
Notification squad!🔥🔥🔥
Those needles that come with the kit are reusable?
I wonder if that would work on a leaking power steering canister?
If Eric The Car Guy says it’s good- I’m Sold!!
So it works for non polar plastics (PP, PE)?
Charlie sheen got his nads glued to his thigh by his stalker neighbor.
Hahahahaha!!!!!
How does it compare to JB Weld?
Hey Eric I am auto tech at Summerfield auto and I keep getting these p0008 codes On a 2008 Cadillac CTS And see a lot of videos and cam sensors and timing chain, now the car that I worked on had a stretched timing chain and only have confidence in you and Paul Danner But I’m asking you because every person has their favorite but if you ever have a scenario I’ would love to see it
I'd like to see what kind of force is required to separate those two 1/2" pieces of square tubing. That's probably the hardest surfaces to bond.
no way
Check out this video I just posted. Might answer your question about metal to metal bonding and HY4070 ua-cam.com/video/SFpcmqQ_7CQ/v-deo.html
would use it to glue emblems ?
It looks very handy, and the loctite company has proven products.
Hopefully it won't cost a kidney to buy some lol.
How does it compare to some of the 2 part epoxies? It seems very convenient.
It is a two part epoxy.
@@fearofchicke exactly right
I’m use the ship out of this
is it as good as jb weld?
Nice glue.
Random question as your a honda guru, What bolts do standard window regulators use to tie to the door frame.
I've just bought a Honda FRV here in the UK and the 'numpty' who tried to fix it before hand has left the bolts on the driveway somewhere.
I've read 10mm but goodness knows what type.
Most vehicles i work on use m6 with a 10mm hex head.
@@bushratbeachbum Thanks
Hey Eric just wanted to let you know that you can find regular engine oil at dollar store or family dollar or dollar tree all three of them have what you're looking for
I found regular (non synthetic) engine oil at Home Depot. 5W30 Pennzoil.
Get yourself a plastic welding kit, and make a vid on that.
I'm a building/house mechanic, I've been wanting to give plastic welding a go for years.
Lately I've been needing/wanting to use it on commercial vacuum cleaners I have to maintain.
Using the plastic welding rods in a Dremel type tool works really well. Friction welding
Would LOCTITE work well on a 2004 Honda Element Hood Latch?
Which loctite?
What part of the latch?
@@bushratbeachbum I'm poking fun at a Rant video Eric did in 2015 about his dealership experience.

Nice good glue, thanks for the review, just don’t trust to much in that pry bar with your face close
This or hondabond?
It’s a bummer it didn’t hold when you tried fixing the boss to that sensor on the Acura. Still, I’d like to see you using the pry bar in a regular-time use and see how it handles. . . pun intended . . .
Pretty sure he used regular JB weld on that sensor boss, not this stuff
But can I use it to splice wires? 😂
Take my money lol
iil use as many as eric sends me .......
Looks like any other 5 minute epoxy. Go to aircraft construction suppliers, like Wicks, and you'll find large bottles of 5 minute two part epoxy for less.
Should I assume that it can handle gasoline and chemicals? For a long time?....like....20 years?
Stay dur tea

Slam that prybar handle down on your bench and if it stays together, I'd be sold. Otherwise, any glue will do what you show.
Reusable super glue!? No way
$60 in Australia, I will never buy it. My experience over the years with any general purpose glues no matter how good never lasts more than 2 years at best. Better to stay with glues made for the job. If plastic use plastic weld, metal if not able to weld use metal weld, Fiberglass "" "" and so on.
