Two months before Kintaro was born.
This day is not Genki's birthday.
But the zookeeper made a special cake to pray for Genki's safe delivery and for the baby to be born healthy.

⭐️Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
Born in Ueno Zoo on July 3, 2000.
His father is Biju and his mother is Momoko.
His father died before he was born and he grew up never knowing his father.
He came to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010 and is now a father of two sons.
⭐️Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Born on June 24, 1986 at the Kyoto City Zoo.
Her father is Mack and her mother is Hiromi.
When she was 10 years old, she went to Ueno Zoo for breeding purposes.
But she had a bad relationship with another female gorilla, and she injured her fingers and toes with her self-mutilation and lost a lot of weight.
When she returned to her hometown of Kyoto City Zoo, she was fine, and she lived with various male gorillas.
Then she met Momotaro and she gave birth to two lovely sons whom she lovingly raised.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at the Kyoto City zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
He is very close with his younger brother Kintaro and they play together almost every day.
⭐️Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at Kyoto City Zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.

7/2023. I just watched a video where Genki is trying to entice Momotaro to impregnate her. So... seems she wants another baby, but Momotaro does not seem interested. Are there steps the Zoo can take to help this along. Vitamins, hormones, Gorilla 'Viagra' pill for Momotaro. He is such a beautiful Silverback, and deserves many offspring. A daughter would be wonderful, another son, just as wonderful. Genki is a loving mother. Momotaro a good father, and the 2 sons are priceless. Please Zookeepers, please, do what you can to make this happen. Thank you!

I notice that when Genki was eating her special treat, Momotaro was shut in his room to give her peace to eat it uninterrupted. No doubt Momo was given some treats, too!

Sweet loveable Gentaro. Genki had a glow about her, like many soon-to-be moms! She is so pretty. Thank you, Kyoto Zoo staff for loving The Momotaro Family so much!!
Gentaro is one special gorilla. He is the one that kick started my love for gorillas. What a special gift he is for the Momotaro family.. To be raised with his special dad for 10 months and develop a special bond to humans and then to be transitioned to develop his relationship with the magnificent ,confused Momataro. He taught Momo how to play and bond with a gorilla. Momo had his strength but Gentaro would outsmart him and trick him. My fave video was when Momo would sit on that metal platform and Gentaro would run around it as fast as he could and Momo would spin around and try to keep up with him but would get so dizzy, he fall for it every time and you knew Gentaro be giggling inside. "got him again" but he had great respect for Momo. How he became the best brother for Kintaro, teach him to play and keep the energized Kintaro occupied or Mama surely never would have got a break from Mamas boy Kintaro. I am so anxious to hopefully witness the next part of Gentaros life. I just know he is going to be the king of Silverback Dads. I truly pray he is going to have a fantastic future. I will truly be devastated if he doesn't get what he truly deserves. What a horrible waste that would be.

This is one of my favorite families to watch. I am a fan of Gentaro, he is so mistreated and blamed when Kintaro is the guilty one. I struggle with the amount of food that Genki stuffs in her mouth and the many times she is eating. I think it slows her down and hard for her to climb, just looks uncomfortable for her
I hope her dental problem improves and slow down on eating, drink more water

Gentaro was the baby until his stinky brother, Kintaro came along! hahaha He was so carefree pre-Kintaro. His mommy and daddy were so tolerant of his playful antics. Wow...is that fuzzy hair on the bottoms of Momotaro's feet? I have to see if I can find information about that.

To all the people that say momo doesn't ever play with gentaro. Or compare him to shabani, who plays with kyomasa. Momo played with gentaro every day until kintaro was around a year or so old. When a baby comes things change. Shabani doesn't have a young child, that's why he plays with kyomasa.
How could Momo play with Gentaro every day til he was one when the keepers took him because Genki didn’t produce enough milk??????????
