Oh dear - seems this is quite common. A friend did same last year and waited for high tide and weighted mast to get the keel off the bottom…
They really need to spend some $$ to dredge .
She is looking beautiful - really thought she would sell by now but hey, positive is she is very comfortable !
    Take care - xx

Hey Tony, yes its quite pathetic that a waterway the size of Lake Macquarie with a significant boating population and support industry is not dredged to ensure access and continuity for the local support industries, tourism, etc. We spent about $8k altogether and were very happy with the services but would not go again unless it's dredged. Same problem along many coastal towns, govt just doesn't get it!

Good to hear from you two! Well, that was stressful but all good in the end!!

Yes it was...when we lost the boat hook and Jim just had a hold of the mooring rope I thought if we lose that mooring we'll have to sail out to sea because those tidal currents are treacherous!

Tender in the water and use a halyard to pull the mast over, use the main engine to move the boat. You’d be surprised what you can do with a five hp motor and a dingy!

Done that on a lake when they dropped the water level overnight. Had a 175 Hp bass boat on the halyard and a 225 Hp party barge pulling from the front.

Hey Bill, yes the halyard would have been the next strategy. Luckily the Marine Rescue arrived soon enough and the combined effort of them towing us, our engine's thrust and with myself and 40kg of water hanging off the boom, we just managed to drag her off the sand into deeper water. We really didn't expect to run aground this time because we had analysed the tide and after run very carefully and by following our exact track (off Navionics) that we recorded when we entered the lake we expected to have enough water under the keel to get through. The after run around this area and the bridge is 3 to 5 knots and continues for 2 or 3 hrs after slack tide so navigating thru the narrow bridge is tricky. Against us also was the fact that the higher slack tide was around sunset and we needed that - so we had limited options to get her back out to sea. Anyhow all good experience! Cheers and thanks for your feedback Bill, Adriana

Fun Fact ... When the 'beautiful Gladys' and Govt locked down the Palm Beach area of Sydney during CV19 a lot of locals would catch the Patonga Ferry to escape for some R and R on the Central Coast ...

Hi Jim sad to see you still not on a Different Sailboat, hand In There. Pretty Sad the Government Don’t Spend some Tax Payers Money and Dredge that whole Harbor to help out and maybe Build a New Island or a new Marina !

Yes the government should do something but the environmental protection agency has been stalling the process! Don't worry Gregory, when the right person and time comes the boat will find a new owner! Thank you for watching! God Bless, Adriana, Jim and Lucy.
