Is electric haulage under the wires, cheaper than running diesel locos? assuming the wiring is were the destination of the freight ends up. good video its a pity more freight isn't carried on the railways instead of road.
Of corse electric juice traction is cheeper to maintain although due to present crisis more costly to afford but far better to the environment. Direct Rail Services is not so keen in acquiring more class 88 bi-mode locomotives for some reason and only 10 members are clearly not enough to the intermodal demand on the West Coast Mainline diagrams intirely under the wires and every now and then class 68s and 66s must take over the duties either single or in pairs respectively specially when the loads are exceptionally heavier than normal such as during RMT strike days when reduced rail traffic suggest goods getting piled up at terminals awaiting be dispached. Hope it helps.
Brilliant video showing some freight you rarely see coming through Crewe ⭐

Weird to see Crewe deserted
Yes - Very weird indeed! I can’t recall ever seeing it like that before..
Splendid video. Well done for catching these freights through the station, not something you see every day.
they keep the frieght running poor passengers suffer with no trains great video though
Even freight had a reduced capacity. RMT dont call a strike for fun.
