this has to be one of the best tutorial videos i have seen, slow and concise without jumping over any steps, something a lot of tutorial channels could learn from, well done
This was and still is the best tutorial on how to achieve this effect that I've ever seen. Marty has such a great way of explaining things. BTW, Here's a tip if you want to be able to replicate this effect quickly, you can combine several layer effects into a single layer style or in this case, two layer styles After you've added the inner bevel and color overlay effects to the image, before you combine them into a smart object, go to the left side the layer style window and click on "Styles" which will be at the very top of the list, right above blending options. Then click on "New Style", which will on the right side. Name the style and hit OK. Continue with the tutorial and again, after you've added the rest of the layer effects, do the same thing as before...Go to Styles/New Styles/OK. Now when you recreate the effect on other images, instead of adding every layer effect individually. You can just click on the new layer styles. Aside from saving time, you wont have to remember all individual settings.
Best Tutorial ever saw,Instructor explains all processes in a clear slow and understandable manner and shows every step...this should be a textbook example to all wannabe's out there..Good Job Sir
This is one of THE BEST Photoshop tutorials !! Unlike many others, you speak and explain clearly and not too fast. Which is very good for non-native English speakers. Thank you so much !!!
Holy moly, I remember watching your old video when I was 12-13. I'm 20 now, and I instantly knew the person I wanted to come back to for this chrome effect. It's amazing to see you still going after all these years!
Alternatively, instead of converting an item to a smart object every time (thus prohibiting the ability to change the layer styles earlier), just put the layer into a sub folder and then do the layer style edits on the folder itself. Example: [image > Folder1 > Folder 2]: Layer 1 (with the white removed) is put inside Folder 1 (has Bevel and Color Overlay setting), Folder 1 is put inside Folder 2 (has new Bevel, gradient, glow, and shadow settings). This way you can also replace or add to Layer 1 with any other image without modifying the existing edits. It does impact performance, but its a good layout when sharing project files amongst team members. Great tutorial, I've used this video several times.
I followed the tutorial and I just got a shiny black text. Not chrome. I think it all begins with filling the logo with black color. Where is this going wrong exactly, then? [I used a text layer btw. Not a logo. But it shouldn't matter since also here the Jaguar text turns chrome too]
The best Photoshop tutorial video I have seen yet, on any topic. Many people gloss over some steps or don't explain what they're doing, or you can't catch what they are clicking. This is detailed, step-by-step, and very clear. The only possible improvement would be to explain what each of the settings is doing (e.g., selection of lens focal length for flare effect) but that is probably more technical than most users need and would quadruple the length of the video.
I always tell many people, I'm so good in Graphics Designing Due to the presence of My lovely Sir Marty Geller, I always put u in my whatsapp status, u are the best forever en ever

I had to switch from creating analog art to learning Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects for my job as a graphic designer/animator/art director. I like positive comments from viewers. Of course, every now and then, I receive a negative one, but that's expected, as well.

This saved my life for being able to make a realistic looking shield with a coat of arms on it. THANK YOU! I even figured out how to do a hue/saturation layer because the thing I was making chrome had colors in it and after I used the curve tool the colors went all wonky lol. this was great thanks!
