Enjoy your vlog ...you’ve obviously done serious homework...As a Singaporean myself, I even didnt know about the business district fengshui trivia....I have learnt something new about my country! 👍👍👍
Cheong David Hi Cheong! That’s great to hear, thank you! Yes, I do a lot of research before filming and generally have a guide on site to teach me new things and for me to ask questions. I love learning more about the culture of the country I’m visiting 😍❤️
Nice Singapore vlog. I used to live there when I was a kid. After living there from 1991 to 1992, I visited my former adoptive home five times. When I visited Singapore three years ago, I did a lot of REs. RE-experiencing the Singaporean lifestyle by taking the public transportation & eating at outdoor hawker centers. Another RE that I did was RE-visit our former home & churches that we used to hear mass. When I visited one of the churches there, I felt emotional & sentimental because it gave us good memories. In my RE-visiting trip to Singapore, the only tourist attractions that I visited are Chinatown & Little India. I agree that Singapore is a FINE city because for obvious reasons, there's always a fine if you commit some offenses. Yes, Singapore is very expensive. That's why during my RE-visiting trip, I just eat at hawker centers because it's the cheapest & the food is good. You will not have a problem with food because Singapore is multi-cultural.
Love the vlog! 😃👍🏻 Btw the lion part of the Merlion actually originates from an old Singaporean folktale about how Singapore was founded way before the British arrived here. The story is basically about a prince from a neighbouring country who was on a journey and stumbled across an island after being stuck in a storm. He then saw a majestic animal which he believed was a lion (btw historians believed that it was a tiger and that he actually mistook it for a lion as lions do not live in this part of the world) and thus decided to become the ruler of the island as it then had no inhabitants and to call the island, Singapura, which in English means the lion city. This is how the modern name, Singapore, came about. This is also why although it is seems that English is our national language, the Singapore national language is actually Malay as the natives of Singapore are actually Malays.
I really enjoyed your videos. I was born and raised in Singapore and moved to the US to go to college. I took my wife during the summer of 2019 to both Singapore and Malaysia. My how things have changed. While I was able to experience a lot of things all over again, I wasn't able to see all of the things that I had grown up with in the 70's and 80's. I am heading back with some friends in 2024. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
@@RenataPereiraTV A lot of the special memories that I have come from my time at school, the time with the friends that I had both Expats and local, as well as some of the sites and scenes that you shared. So many things have changed since the 80's. For example we would go to an area called Ponggol Point for seafood. The wooden jetty and the two open air restaurants are no longer there. I didn't see it but a cool video might be some of the local food scene in Singapore. The Hawker culture is unique and there are locations in the US that have attempted to replicate.

One of the most mind blowing things I saw in Singapore was the The Singapore Stone. It's on display at the National Museum, and I only saw it on my way out. It's a fragment of a large sandstone slab which originally stood at the mouth of the Singapore River. The large slab, which is believed to date back to at least the 13th century and possibly as early as the 10th or 11th century....it bears an undeciphered inscription. It was discovered when they were building the fort and widening the mouth of the river. So what did the Brits do?...they blew it up!!!....lol Quite a story.

It was soooooooooo hot! It's hot and humid all year round, like the rest of Southeast Asia. What varies is if you get more or less rain. Between November-January it tends to rain more than average, while February statistically seems to be the month with the least amount of rain.
@@RenataPereiraTV There's a lot more than the usual tourist attractions in Singapore, especially if you love nature. For example, the Southern Ridges are beautiful to hike. You can see a part of the ridges here in my video : ua-cam.com/video/8Bic2VUNBZI/v-deo.html
Enjoyable video. But Fullerton was never a fort; it was built on the site of a former fort. The current building was built as the city's general post office. It probably assumed some kind of quasi-military function during WWII, but I doubt it was ever a fort. It's now a pretty high-end hotel.
I'm not sure why you said Singapore's history officially started when the British arrived? I'm sure there is national history that predates the occupation.
Unreal SouIxdrag We landed there but immediately went to the hotel and didn’t see much of the airport 😕. I know it’s a fantastic airport, so one day I’d love to do an entire video there 😍😍
Renata pereira !!!!!!!!!! You have shown all the positives things about Singapore !!!!!! But but can you show all the negatives of living and working in singapore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only negative I know is the living cost, that is high... I’d need to live there to better understand positives x negatives. Do you live in Singapore? What’s the downside?
@@RenataPereiraTV I was born, work and live here my whole life. Beside the high cost of living, working life is very stressful and highly competitive. You have to cope with heat and high humidity all year round. Here the rich is getting richer and income inequity is widening !!!!!! There are a lot more negatives which i cant described here !!!!!! Well I forget your job is to write interesting stuffs about places. The positive is you are promoting Singapore as a tourist destination that is a good thing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think here are written documents from hundreds of years ago recording people migrating to this part of the world from various places such as China, Thailand, etc. long before the arrival of the Brits.
Lots of diversity, mixed of Taoism/Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Catholics, Pentecostal/Conservative Christians, Atheists and many more! Culture is many, mainly Chinese, Malay/Indonesian/Middle Eastern, Indian, Peranakan (Chinese and Malay Mixed), Eurasian (European and Asian mixed). All basically modern thinking, common in English education and tuned into the world. Fast speed internet makes Singapore a very connected society. Too connected that they communicate via smart phones more!
Hi there, another great Vlog from Singapore , looking at the architecture it's all glass and steel, in a part of the world were extreme weather 💧⚡🌀 can be the norm such as typhoons, big lightening storms, that glass and steel would be the last materials to be chosen for the construction of highrise structures as is seen in your vlog, the absorption of heat by glass and steel can cause big problems in expansion and contraction in the stucture, also steel is a good conductor of electricity⚡,and lighting bolts⚡⚡ are in the Mega Volts and the energy is in the Mega Watts, the air surrounding a lightning bolt is three times hoter than the temperature on the surface of the sun, I wonder if they have thought about solor panels to generate electricity, instead of lots of glass panels,in that way they would help reduce the greenhouse effect on the planet,by the way I am like yoursel ,to spicey foods I am not fond of due to the after effects 😠 it can cause,so I will depart for now and look forward to further Vlogs from Singapore, take care and God bless.
I didn't know about the after effects!! 😂😂 About the construction, I'm sure they figured out a way... a for a country that builds land and produces food indoors, I bet they master any type of engineering. All the best to you!
I would agree with you on that point, about there engineering skills, what I was getting at is the amount of glass and steel, these materials expand with heat, more so steel, the glass will have thermal components built into cope with the heat generated by the sun on the glass on these structural monoliths of glass and steel, also there skills in the field of hydrology in there use of water for there large water displays,it just goes to show what endevour can acheive when there is a will to do so, I will catch up with you and Gordon further down the line, take care and God bless.

It was soooooooooo hot! It's hot and humid all year round, like the rest of Southeast Asia. What varies is if you get more or less rain. Between November-January it tends to rain more than average, while February statistically seems to be the month with the least amount of rain.
Singapore is a FINE country....
Simon Teh I think it’s super fine!!! ✌️
Hahaha Renata, this is a local joke. SG is a Fine City bc one gets fined for ... $500 for Littering ...
anon anon Ahhhhhhh!!!! How fun!!!!! 😂😂😂 That’s so creative!!!
@@RenataPereiraTV you can buy a FINE CITY t Shirt....
Nice to see that you're on my island!

Ambient Walking I’d really love to, as I missed Sentosa! 😭😭😭

Thank you! Yes, I'm hoping to make it to India next year 😍❤ I will be a dream come true
I'm a Singaporean and I support the strict laws here. I have nothing to fear as I don't kill, do drugs, insult any religion or shit on the road.
👍
Enjoyable video. But Fullerton was never a fort; it was built on the site of a former fort. The current building was built as the city's general post office. It probably assumed some kind of quasi-military function during WWII, but I doubt it was ever a fort. It's now a pretty high-end hotel.
Thank you for the clarification
I'm not sure why you said Singapore's history officially started when the British arrived? I'm sure there is national history that predates the occupation.
Steve Ong, your right. My wording does not convey what I meant! Thks for the correction!

Wow that would be amazing documentation of history. So cool that it is preserved. Thank you for watching😀
Teacher Singapura is nice.let me hear other vidio
Very cool! I hope you enjoy more Singapore
Cool. And what about culture/art/religion? What in their minds and souls?
That's coming up in my next videos 😍😍😍
@@RenataPereiraTV TY!
@@eccosselion You are so right! 🙌🙌 All the best!
Fullerton hotel not a fort but a post office back during the British colonial time.
Kyant T larrytay1 Hi Kyant! Our guide explained that it was a fort called Fort Fullerton built in 1829 to defend the British settlement. It indeed became a post office, but many decades later. There’s more about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fullerton_Hotel_Singapore
Super mam
