You were saying "until we get to 100K subscribers", and I look at the subscriber count and I'm like "WHAT?!?". I thought you would have several hundred thousand, your videos are so great!
Great video, as usual Giorgio!! Another point on running: Last Saturday I made my first ever CX race, and finished with an sprained ankle, for a foot rotation when dismounting. Being an (ex) triathlete for 10 years, but cycling only since April, made me stronger at bike, but weak at ankles. A good reminder to keep putting some miles on running, and specially before CX season.
Thanks! Ahh man that’s an absolute nightmare I hope you heal up and get back on it 🤞 100% a good reason, I’m a fan of running year round… nothing mad just to keep things ticking over. It helps avoid Dom’s when you start running and also lowers the risk of injury. Hope you get back racing soon!
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling Last sunday got my second race, this time without any injuries! Back on running, and feeling strong for the rest of season. Thanks for your support!
Love this video, started cross last year and really enjoyed it.. came from a downhill mountain biking background into road riding and then found cross, trying to take it seriously this year to see if I can get nearer the top ten, will put your tips into practice.. thanks mate!
yeah I need a better regime. I've been cycing all summer (road) and I'm being slaughtered on the courses. The grassy ones in particular. I just feel like I can't move on it.
I always find the difference in cadences between road and off-road can take a while to get used to and also some of the sharp acceleration out of corners… but once you have a good few races under your belt it normally starts to feel natural again 👌
Hi mate planning on riding in the Wessex league this coming September 2024. any other training recommendations would be appreciated. Never done cx in my life 😂 should be fun !!
That’s mega! If you are local there are some summer CX races on in May and June, I would definitely recommend giving one a go to see what the effort feels like 👌 they are great training and on a Thursday evening I think 👍
I’m returning to cyclocross. Raced in my early twenties and now making a “comeback”🫢 in my late fifties. I’m finding the hardest part is getting my legs to run after pedalling. I find my legs are trying to run in a pedalling movement!! Takes about three to five steps before normal running movement kicks in. I just practice dismount-run-mount but it just isn’t clearing. I’m not going to win anything but would like to feel a bit more in control. Any advice??
Absolutely epic you are getting back into it 💪 I have not heard of that personally myself but it does normally take a step or 2 to get into a running rhythm as it can be hard to match the pace. I also found personally the more you work on the dismount and remount the more natural it comes. Making sure when you dismount you get a good first stride into the run and also taking off on the correct leg on the remount to avoid a stutter step 👌
100% my training doesn’t change that much from XC to CX… you don’t really need the running for XC but it’s always good to mix it up and get some cross training in 👌
That’s what makes it so addictive always trying to get better 😜 pretty much all year round to fill in the gaps between sessions but I have cut back recently on the amount of zone 2 👌
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling cool did my first over under session today just guesstimating intensity up the steepest hill around and if the strava wattage is accurate got it spot on. But only did 4 instead of 10 which would bring me to my knees 😅
We need a video on The Rocket's tips for the best coffee and cakes at cyclocross venues.
0:04 Definitely have one of these 😂
😂😂
Glad youve started putting these how to videos out as im about to dip my toe into cyclo-cross. Keep em coming. Love them 👌
Thanks mate! So good that you are going to race, it’s much more enjoyable than those bloody Ironman events you do 😜 plus it only lasts an hour 😂

good tips GC, gotta put that effort in even if it does include running! always said CX is for nutters :) good luck this season
😂 it’s certainly is… got to be nuts to run round a field with your bike all winter 😂
Superb "Hotrod"..
Screw loose ☑️ I’m ready for cross 😂💪
😂😂
I would love to know how you got past the studder step on remount. So annoying!! Great tips here though!
I will try and make a video on this when I get chance 👌 as I tried to explain it over a message recently and it was difficult 😂

Thanks for putting this together mate - do all of these translate to XC as well?

Cool I’ll try over unders done 7 cx races now and I’m addicted ( just not very good 😅) do you do the zone 2 all year round or just spring and summer ?
