    Manufacturer Name: BELL
    Model: 206B
    MFR Year: 1975
    FAA # N870H
    Serial Number: 1845
    The Bell 206 is a family of two-bladed, single- and twin-engined helicopters, manufactured by Bell Helicopter at its Mirabel, Quebec, plant. Originally developed as the Bell YOH-4 for the United States Army's Light Observation Helicopter program, it was not selected by the Army. Bell redesigned the airframe and successfully marketed the aircraft commercially as the five-place Bell 206A JetRanger. The new design was eventually selected by the Army as the OH-58 Kiowa. Bell also developed a seven-place LongRanger, which was later offered with a twin-engined option as the TwinRanger, while Tridair Helicopters offers a similar conversion of the LongRanger called the Gemini ST. The ICAO-assigned model designation "B06" is used on flight plans for the JetRanger and LongRanger, and the designation "B06T" is used for the twin-engined TwinRangers.

    Great video. 😊 I liked the outside/inside footage. I think the 505 is the replacement for the 206 but you can’t beat the iconic start up sound of the 206. I see quite a collection of different helicopters at the airport. The freeway (or as we call it motorway in the UK) looked very busy.

    They need to make a Halloween where Micheal steals one of these and you hear Loomis yell MICHEAL as the chopper lifts off and then the theme tune and credits start.

    Man, if they ever tear down the Four Stacks, I'll never be able to navigate around the San Fernando Valley again. I've always assumed those were put there just for me. Is that huge pit turning on right crosswind where they are digging for Cleopatra's Tomb?

    • @EdWhisenantAviation
      @EdWhisenantAviation  Рік тому

      I'm sure you could still navigate around the valley even if the Four Stakes didn't exist, but I would sure miss seeing them. Your not supposed to talk about what the pit is for. Great comment & thank you for checking it out 👍😎

    Merry Christmas, Ed!!!! Thanks for the upload. Tridair Helicopters? Was this FBO out of John Wayne Airport (KSNA)? Doug Dagle was the owner and operator of a vintage 1947 Bell 47B (N116B) based there, and set a World Hovering Record in the parking lot of Anaheim Stadium back in December 1989, which is now on display at the Smithsonian in DC. Red & white, with quadracycle landing gear.

      @@EdWhisenantAviation Oh, you bet, Ed. Yeah, that record was set on Friday, December 15, 1989. I'm pretty good with the that year, for some reason. I was a Junior in High School, at the time. Anyhow, that machine arrived at a Bell 47 Helicopter Fly-In at KPOC (Brackett Field) on Saturday, April 21, 2001, along with 14 other machines. Look up "Bell 47 Fly In" on UA-cam. I'm in it about half-way through, during the "Ken Tobey" presentation. I'm the young man sitting in the front row, with the buzz haircut, thick reading glasses, wearing a dark-gray plaid jacket & blue jeans. It was an AWESOME event.
