Hey David, I'm 33 now and started playing in the 8th grade. I stopped playing at my 9th year and started back up again a couple weeks ago and I'm really enjoying it now. So really I haven't played I'd say for about 6 years. I purchased a book called Blues You Can Use by John Ganapes. It's a Hal Leonard book. I'm getting through the book with confidence. My goal is to play for my own enjoyment for as long as I'm around! I'd like to eventually get to a point where I can record my own stuff at home with a BOSS recorder or something. I do not know how to read music. My current practice routine is about 2 hours every day. I start with finger warms ups to help me synch my right and left hand with alternate picking etc. (with a metronome) I Need a better variety of warm ups. After that, I dive into the book and learn the songs within until I master them. I'd like to start learning the entirety of the fretboard, so slowly working on that as well. I'd ultimately love to play as you do. What you played at the beginning of this video is precisely what I enjoy. Awesome playing! Currently listening to BB king, Albert King, Johm Mayall, and Stevie Ray Vaughn to get that sound in my head. If can suggest any other artists let us know! In summery, I guess I just need more structure in my practicing. I've considered and online course like Guitar Licks, but not sure!
@@vincenzo9634 perfect! You’re thinking about what’s best for you and improves your playing. Look up John Nathan Cordy on UA-cam. He’s the guy I’m currently impressed by and listening at his clean playing. Chords, chords, chords too. Stay tuned, I have lots of video ideas but your comments are truly helping me. Look for a video on recording soon too. I’m trying to stay away from things that require money and I’m not here to sell anything other than my playing and experience. Thanks again for the comment.
I do need to work on my reading. Good suggestion. Loved the opening.
Thanks for the compliment! i might go full ADHD on you in one of my upcoming videos. And show some hidden musician powers lol.
