Epica created this song to promote the new Efteling attraction 1:21 Danse Macabre. Danse Macabre replaces the old haunted castle attraction (Spookslot) in the Efteling. The violin 9:211:52 comes from the old haunted castle (Spookslot) and, like many elements, returns in the new Danse Macabre attraction that opens on October 31. This video clip was also recorded entirely at the Danse Macabre attraction and we see, among other things, the new queue 1:59 and parts of the attraction such as the conductor. 6:226:31
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Ah, the visits to the Efteling as kid and even as student, The theme park started with depicting classic fairy tales base upon the drawings by illustrator Anton Pieck (1895-1987), a style continued in later attractions. Of course later things like a roller coaster and a huge Pirate ship like swing were added. I loved the garbage containers looking like Paper Gobbler/Greedy Gus saying Papier Hier (Paper here) all the time.
I got to hear the live debut of this during the Symphonic Synergy show and it was incredible!!! And Simone actually does do the highest part of that full-choir section near the end-she’s blended into the studio mix but during the live you could hear her. I absolutely loooove how she’s developed her lower tone more though in the past few years; it sounds so good and I’m looking forward to more of it on the new album! The violin part you recognized is the intro to the famous classical piece Danse Macabre, which the whole song is structured on!
As long as Tuomas is alive, nightwish will be there. I loved Nightwish and Epica since like 15 years ago, and I would never make a comparison between them. Needless to say, Epica is by far my favorite band but Nightwish is still there for me, they followed a different path but I still love their music, specially Yesterwynde ❤
@@wishmaster0390 Obviously we disagree, in my mind Tuomas has hit the wall and as much as earlier Nightwish was a product of his talent, the current offerings are a result of his hubris.
@@jamesnelson1968 I think at the end I do not expect anything from Nightwish because sometimes you expect to much and the final result is not what you want. It is totally fine that you do not like them anymore. Cheers.
The Melody for this song is from a piece of classical music written in 1874 called Danse Macabre composed by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. EPICA made the video to promote a new attraction called Danse Macarbe, in the Theme Park in the Netherlands called - Efteling
The yellow violin was used in the old haunted castle (Spookslot) and played the Danse Macabre. Efteling needed to demolish Spookslot because it had become too old, and now they have built a whole new attraction with the same theme.
Theatrically goulish!! ❤ There is always a creepy atmosphere when you have childrens' voices with a sinister undertone. Absolutely loved this! ' Danse Macarbre ' has always had a special place in my heart. Tommy..you can NEVER control what happens around us but we CAN control our reactions toward whatever they may be. I find sitting in complete silence..not thinking..but still being aware of the sounds around me..helps alot to centre myself. It's amazing how calming it is. Take care ok!? ❤❤
Quote|: "If they made a haunted attraction, this would be it!" .... hey that is exactly what this is. Everything you saw in the video is part of the new Danse Macabre haunted castle attraction in our country's biggest theme park, De Efteling. Epica based this song on the music by French classical composer Camile Saint Saens called Danse Macabre and this is music that is played in this new attraction. Epica's version is used to promote this new attraction that will open next week.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Please do, and when you do please do not compare it to disney . Efteling is older than the disney parks and has completely diffrent vibes.
wow, what a quick reaction from you, that's super cool my friend This song is an interpretation of the Camille Saint-Saëns classic "danse macabre" and is also a collaboration between Epica and the famous Dutch amusement park Efteling, which is one of the three largest parks in Europe and this video shows the decorations for the new attraction that opens in this park for Halloween. The premiere of this song was a month ago at an Epica concert which took place with a full orchestra and choir and on the Internet you can find a live version of this song in gorgeous quality and in an impeccable artistic performance by Simone ❤️ this song became my favorite at this concert and now they have released a video and a studio version and my god it is absolutely gorgeous, epic Disney metal 😆 love it
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody I'm doing great, I hope that everything will be the same for you. And let the things you can't influence or control not upset you.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody it is a great theme park. And the attraction is a scarehouse kind of thing. They first had spookslot and the song than was from Kate Bush.
I was on this song as soon as I saw it pop up on my UA-cam feed. The fact that the music is based on Danse Macabre just increased my interest. And, it didn't disappoint. I was captured all the way through. I tend to like singers more as they mature. They rely less on the "tricks" and more on performing to and for the song. I have a feeling, though, that Simone didn't go high on this one because the song didn't call for it, not because she can't hit those notes any more.
Its amazing to see Simone utilize her lower vocal range. Yes, she has a killer upper register but she has underutilized her chest voice over the years.
A daytime post? How unusual. But I’m here for it. This song was cool though. I LOVE epic choral vocals. This feels like the Halloween version of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Which I’m absolutely here for! 😀
this one is based on the "Danse macabre" (macabre dance) from Camille Saint-Saëns, a fabulous french classic composer. You can find a very seasonal animation with this music here : ua-cam.com/video/z0glOYQBlSA/v-deo.html
This is an amazing collaboration between Epica and Dutch themepark Efteling for the promotion of their new attraction (haunted house) Danse Macabre, which opens next week. The video is actually shot in the Danse Macabre! :)
Lol... "If they made a haunted attraction..." Just a bit clairvoyant. RE the vocal range and all that: The underlying composition (Danse Macabre) by Camille Saint-Saëns stays within a fair constrained segment of 2 octaves or so. All it's movement comes from those chromatic walks down... was Saint-Saëns the first metal composer, cuz metalheads love the chromatic step down. When you do this, you don't need big jumps in thirds, fourths and fifths. I think Epica did a grand job of taking a true classical piece and winding words and rhythms through it. On the 'letting go' of the distracting "Life" that goes on in our day-to-day, This song asks the listener to let go of that daily grind and 'dance with the dead'... I don't think they are calling for the listener to BE dead. Rather, I think they are asking us to embrace the death that is in our future, and embrace that commune with the dead that we will eventually/inevitably attain. Cuz we are all gonna get there. One day. On a more materialistic level: This song was written for a new featured area at the Dutch Efteling theme park. It's a great 'invite you in the front door' tune. Disney wishes they had songwriting like this going into their new productions. Oh, "hi", btw... hope things are looking up a bit.
@@TheGrimmReaper1 I WISH I could blame that on spellcheck, but I'm sure it was due to being hurried or sleepy or both. The error has been corrected, but my shame will never be erased.
