And Fuji makes some awesome films.............absolutely worth every cent spent on them. Even if you use a Velvia............ My first introduction to Ginetta was in Project Cars, thought great brakes, a little lacking in top speed, but great to drive. I'll pick them a little more often now.....;)
This guy is an absolute gem. He deserves all of his success and is using it to help others who want to try their hand in things they otherwise couldn't without his help. He is building an extended empire-like family, not a dollars and cents business. It's VERY admirable
Ive always liked the ponoz cars, sadly never knew about them until gran turismo 3 introduced me to the esperante gt race car. If I had the money to spend I'd buy one of the road cars.
I have come through the Ginetta ladder GT5, GT4 and now drive for the factory in GT3,...and the Le Mans dream is getting closer!....all I can say is that after winning the GT4 title in 2013 other manufacturers tried to get me in their cars but the only company that really cares about your progression as a driver is Ginetta. They are quite simply fantastic and I would urge anyone to take the plunge and get on the first step with the GRDC car.
@@raymondnewbill5294 after a whole the discount on races, ginetta credit as well as sponsors will heavily outweigh the price of ginetta leagues, but dont forget ginetta hires drivers to drive in their cars for other leagues, not just their own. Like what ferrari and Porsche etc do
I've a heart condition at 50 and SIM racing keeps me sane. I love driving the Ginetta's in the virtual racing world. After watching this I'll be buying a Ginetta G40R direct from Lawrence. What a genuine fella with incredible story. If I can achieve a race driver licence and have the occasional track day with my car, that would be the dream.
What a top story. Lawrence comes across as a genuine guy, with a great zest for life. Nice to see Ginetta, with their fine history, moving forward and playing against the ' big' fellows. Impressive facilities.
"A business absolutely devoted to service will have only one worry about profits. They will be embarrassingly large." - Henry Ford Hats off to you, Ginetta. I'd love to work in a company like yours and become a customer one day too.
This man has won the Internet! This is the nicest comment section, filled with the most inspirational comments, I've ever seen on a UA-cam video lol That man definitely seems like he cares about his customers!
Mr. Tomlinson has motorsport in his veins, in his mind, in his lungs, and cares more for his customers than for his own company! We need more guys like him
Inspirational. Only 9min long, yet gave me a sense of joy and satisfaction than many motorsport-related stories. Definitely one of the best pieces /DRIVE had done, for sure.
New dream car. This man is amazing, I would love to go to their factory and help build a car that I will buy; seems like a great time hanging out with true level headed enthusiasts.
Great to see this. I lived near to the shop and Lawrence flew over my house nearly every day! The cars have moved light years from the dodgy ford fiesta door`d items of the not to far past. The race series is fantastic also. Well done LNT and /Drive.
A company that cares. Why can't all of them be like this? Also I love the way they are ACTUALLY are trying to make motorsport affordable. Great company and great man who owns them
He's involved with Panoz? Right, now that's a major win for me. All hail the Esperante GTR-1. His remark on driver's responsibility is spot on. Too many cars these days provide enough cushioning to the mental state of the driver, to the point that they feel they are above any responsibility. Again, spot on with the pricing of most sports cars these days. Unnecessarily and mind-bogglingly expensive.
Now that's a story I was happy to hear. A lot of managers and businessman can learn from this guys humbleness. Nice cars by the way, keep on the good work.
Looks like Honda and Lotus merged an S2000 body with a Lotus front end. Digging the styling and the simplistic approach. I would drive one in the states if they were legal.
Dee Jay honestly never heard of this car until this video. For all I know they could be in the states, just not road legal (track car only). These cars seem perfect for English B roads where speed isnt a factor, but handeling and control does. I googled and one model for consumers only make around 160hp.
Dee Jay ya, not much to the car. From the video it look like its all Fiber Glass or Carbon Fiber, Tube Chassis, with im sure a very light 4 cylender and drive line...Base model road version is 1,753 lbs. Put a super charger or turbo on it and its a fast little car
So cool, I want a Ginetta now. What a nice guy though, his company looks so good to work for, and that's what it should be like, people loving their work.
I absolutely love the concept behind their sales, a high end G40 is my dream car, the more I read about them the more it secures my favouritism over the likes of Lotus (which previously was my dream car). Being as I am still a student I settle for an old MX5. :)
Seen these care running in the Australian GT Championship and look like nice cars, fantastic to see the company behind them has such a good manager and way of running the business.
Opens up the board room bar for a beer with everyone? Man, I'm so used to it being 'office people' and 'shop people' The office people act like they're better than the guys working in the shop so nobody really makes friends. Like fucking high school cliques
Dee Jay Love that idea, you can tell Lawrence Tomlinson is a true race driver himself, he has worked in the garage for many teams and bonded with his crews, engineers, etc. So he understands how a tight team all on the same level can really pull together and be powerful, and how crucial that can be for brand power. If anyone feels like they can buy into the Ginetta brand and be a strong part of it, what a loyal fanbase you'll get. I'd love to work for Ginetta!
I admire Panoz and Ginetta so much! Not some super car vapor ware or something flashy spyker. These are real race cars, made for enjoyment and based on the roots of all things holy in the car world. My dream is to one day run my own pet project like the two.
Lawrence Tomlinson embodies an ideal management ethos. I hope it will make his company prosper. I've always been struck by the styling and performance of Ginetta cars. Now that I've watched this video I see the company is in very good hands. LT is absolutely correct about today's misguided car manufacturers . Why anyone needs 600 BHP to enjoy a road car is beyond me. Light, simple, balanced, unfiltered - these are the attributes of a great sports car. Something you can drive to the corner store and then on the track to hone your skills. Hopefully, Ginetta will start selling in the USA. Until car makers figure it out, I'll keep driving my old Elva Courier when I need a pure driving experience. It's about enjoyment, not numbers.
I've been aware of Ginetta since they became part of the BTCC race weekend (I think a couple of years before the G40 was introduced) and I think I'd quite like to work there or design for them some day if opportunities took me that way. I also want a G40R and a G60 road car! If you don't watch BTCC, watch it and look out for Ginettas in support races. The G40 Juniors are 14-17-year-olds and the Supercup uses a version of their V6-powered G55 GT4 car (see the V8 GT3 version around 3mins in vid). Great racing.
They must make a modern interpretation of the Cerbera speed 12, and with a sequential transmission, and the v12, well made out of the current v8 engine!
LT is such a decent chap love listening to him when he's on midweekmotorsport. The new p3 is looking and sounding great at elms silverstone Ewan baldry and co have built a stunning lil car, They'll get more pace out of it once they get to know it a lot more and that only comes with mileage to which team lnt lmp3 will be doing the britcar 24 hour. it has to be the logical replacement for lmpc.
I have huge respect for Lawrence tomlinson and the Ginetta brand he works with the people, people don't work for him in a way! The cars are just cool though
Very impressive business America should take a look at his business model and take heed, they care about the product and the people making it ... I'm impressed
Seems like a grounded company that cares more about their customers than their numbers... so refreshing
***** they are a bit like Fujifilm (photography industry)
Will B if they take that approach I am sure they will find a lot of people to be fiercely loyal to their brand.
As long as it is not losing money it is all profit, from $1 to a $1,000,000.
And Fuji makes some awesome films.............absolutely worth every cent spent on them.
Even if you use a Velvia............
My first introduction to Ginetta was in Project Cars, thought great brakes, a little lacking in top speed, but great to drive.

Exactly dude. This guy really touched me. Just down to earth, honest and easy going. Treating every one like family
Callan P.K. Id love to do this
As a former Panoz employee I can honestly say that this guy gets it. People DO matter.
Ive always liked the ponoz cars, sadly never knew about them until gran turismo 3 introduced me to the esperante gt race car. If I had the money to spend I'd buy one of the road cars.
When you see a company producing cars with such a humble person managing it, it makes you feel good! It makes you wish them to have lots of success!
Do they actually pay you to drive and race??? Or do you still have to fork out they money to race???
@@raymondnewbill5294 after a whole the discount on races, ginetta credit as well as sponsors will heavily outweigh the price of ginetta leagues, but dont forget ginetta hires drivers to drive in their cars for other leagues, not just their own. Like what ferrari and Porsche etc do

Laurence is a good family friend of ours and it's amazing what he has done to this company
What an amazing and humble corporation. I do hope to be a customer of theirs one day.
Says a lot about a boss when he takes cares of his employees especially the customers.
I never heard of this company before but he seems like an awesome boss and is running a company that I would love to be involved with!
This almost seems like morality and compassion in business... hold the fricken phone...
Best. Car maker. Ever. You've just become my idol and as soon as I finish engineering school you'll receive my CV.
A man with passion right here and a company with a vision. Great shit!
Now this is an effing great video!!!!!!! This guy could and SHOULD teach the American car companies how it's done. 2 thumbs way up!!!!!!
I wish there were more auto-makers like this. With customer involvement, apprenticeships, driver training, race day passes, board room bars, etc.
Great to see this. I lived near to the shop and Lawrence flew over my house nearly every day!
The cars have moved light years from the dodgy ford fiesta door`d items of the not to far past. The race series is fantastic also. Well done LNT and /Drive.

Lovely cars, and a great story. Remember getting a brisk ride around Bryar in a vintage Ginetta some years ago. Best of luck to them!
I love Ginetta and the whole concept to the company as well as their cars. Glad to see a video by you guys on them!
Ginetta was already on my wishlist, but after watching this interview it's going to be a must buy.
Klasse dass es noch handgebaute, simple, leichte ....und bezahlbare Autos gibt! So einen hätte ich gern.
Lawrence, your story goes deep. Can I tour your plant the next time I'm in the UK?
Ginetta are brilliant! Love their range of cars as well as the several series that have in motorsport.
sneaky shot of our old car at 8:07
brilliant documentary and a brilliant company to work with :)
Looks like a great company, great cars and really quite beautiful cars. I'll keep my eye on them.
Top bloke wish him and his company much more success in the future and im happy to hear he is also a Yorkshire man too Good lad! :)
Looks like Honda and Lotus merged an S2000 body with a Lotus front end. Digging the styling and the simplistic approach. I would drive one in the states if they were legal.
Matt Rupp AWW they arent?! I was just about to go research that :(
Dee Jay honestly never heard of this car until this video. For all I know they could be in the states, just not road legal (track car only). These cars seem perfect for English B roads where speed isnt a factor, but handeling and control does. I googled and one model for consumers only make around 160hp.
Matt Rupp That's it eh? Must weigh a decent amount less than 2000lbs then
Dee Jay ya, not much to the car. From the video it look like its all Fiber Glass or Carbon Fiber, Tube Chassis, with im sure a very light 4 cylender and drive line...Base model road version is 1,753 lbs. Put a super charger or turbo on it and its a fast little car
Matt Rupp it already is a fast car for the road..
I'm already liking this company... And this is the first I've ever heard of it.
This was the best commercial for Ginetta they could ever get
I got a new and very possitive view on the company
Wow, now this is a company I would be proud to stand behind, great work ethic and let's other people have great opportunities
Excellent Car, incredible owner, kudos to you Sir
So cool, I want a Ginetta now. What a nice guy though, his company looks so good to work for, and that's what it should be like, people loving their work.
Loved this film. Real car-enthousiast!
Wow. This sounds like a great car experience all around. From beginning to end.-If there is ever really an end.. I wish I could work there.
LNT deserves much credit for what he does. Great guy!!!!!
I love Ginetta! Their cars are beautiful!
seems like he is really passionate about it. so good to see someone working with passion, not just $
I have been going crazy with Ginetta´s GT4 car in Automobilista 2 and I can say you cars are just fantastic!
Amazing company! Now show me where I can get involved in something similar in america?
For real show me too lol
Jason O'Connell You and me both...
Jason O'Connell One of us is going to have to start it up I think.
Foxxorz lets do it
I was thinking the exact same thing! Amazing.
This guy is great
And to think I drive past this factory just about every other day. Amazing setup, would love to buy a Ginetta road car.
I hope one day I'm going to build my Ginetta with you guys! I wish the best for the company!
You can come in and help build your own car?
BRB, buying a Ginetta.
I absolutely love the concept behind their sales, a high end G40 is my dream car, the more I read about them the more it secures my favouritism over the likes of Lotus (which previously was my dream car).
Being as I am still a student I settle for an old MX5. :)
Amazing...I wish there were more people and companies like this.
Wow, now that's a boss I'd love to work for!
A decentralised power structure seems to work well. Politicians, citizens, authoritarians take note.
Great businessman with a well run company. Respect.
The Ginetta support races for the BTCC are fantastic!
i was wondering about the odd choice in background music but then i watched him deliver that sentence at 2:41. this guy is boss and he knows it.
I've radically changed my view of Ginetta in 5 minutes.
What a wonderful company, I hope they continue to grow but don't lose the way as they do so.
The Ginetta G60 is one of my favorite cars going today.
Seen these care running in the Australian GT Championship and look like nice cars, fantastic to see the company behind them has such a good manager and way of running the business.
Opens up the board room bar for a beer with everyone?
Man, I'm so used to it being 'office people' and 'shop people'
The office people act like they're better than the guys working in the shop so nobody really makes friends. Like fucking high school cliques
Ugh cliques, they ruin my happy mood

as an engineering student, id love to work there, seems like the greatest workplace of all time :)
Thanks drive for informing me on this company that new little about

Cool video, the Ginettas in Project CARS look like fun, can't wait for it to come out in two weeks!
The G40 junior is so much fun in game.
Terrell Olvera probably one of those people who thinks that anything with aero (even if it was intended for track use) is "rice".
I've been aware of Ginetta since they became part of the BTCC race weekend (I think a couple of years before the G40 was introduced) and I think I'd quite like to work there or design for them some day if opportunities took me that way. I also want a G40R and a G60 road car!

This is awesome, seems like a really neat company to work for!
This guy is a good man.I hope they make this cars in America.
And that kid's is how your father became a massive Ginetta Fan, A good solid structure for success.
"Not a bad way to spend 30 grand"
Mark Boss the miata race spec is $50k as a comparison but not road legal.
This guy seems seriously cool. I'd love to apprentice at a place like this in the states.
My dad owns the latest generation of Ginetta Cars, the G40R, and he thoroughly enjoys it. It is just a shame I don't have a driving license yet xD
Wow that's awesome. Would definitely be interested in something like this
Seems like an amazing company to be apart of
His factory looks like a fleet of hobby machines, like RC cars!
They must make a modern interpretation of the Cerbera speed 12, and with a sequential transmission, and the v12, well made out of the current v8 engine!
LT is such a decent chap love listening to him when he's on midweekmotorsport.

This dude raced for Panoz, legend in my book haha
This video makes me want to buy a Ginetta when I grow up. 30 large quid? Not bad at all.
Great insight into company and racing club appears good value. What's the grey car on the ramp at 7:34 please?
I love the idea of a sub 2000lbs road car but that audi quattro is clean :O
very nice guy and the cars are not half bad...
I have huge respect for Lawrence tomlinson and the Ginetta brand
he works with the people, people don't work for him in a way!
The cars are just cool though
The white with the orange strip reminds me of a banshee...
i was looking for a trackday car. I think i might have found it here.
This is how every business should be run!
Wow, never heard of Ginetta before. Seems like the most likeable car company ever! You just got yourself a future customer:)
Would love to see Ginetta make a latter-day successor to the Ginetta G15 powered by a 140 + hp 1.0 Ford Ecoboost Turbo.
Right before "lets have a beer", I thought, "I would like to work here".
great video, great company
He sounds like one of the nicest people in motorsport
Lmp3 car for £270k is why I love this company
I really like the G40R!
Very impressive business America should take a look at his business model and take heed, they care about the product and the people making it ... I'm impressed
I can t belive such car companies exist anymore...hope i work for them one day:)
frick, now i want a ginetta! or to work there. i'm not sure, maybe both!!
Oh my word, what a guy. I so badly want to be part of this company ❤😮
