Hey matt hoopes! Back in the day Relient K had some actually pretty cool guitar tones.....I wonder if they still do (I didn't pay attention to their new album that much)
The tele deluxe still has humbuckers, the three screws on each coil is just for aesthetics. The magic in those pickups is the kind of magnet used which is copper, nickel, and iron: CuNiFe. The magnets are very expensive because they are not mass produced, which is why they are usually only available from custom pickup builders.
These videos are filmed under extreme time constraints. If you want to hear the gear for yourself, you'll have to go see the band live the next time they're in your town. :)

Digital Tour Bus yeah but he was showing his balding before he insisted on wearing the hat. I had the same type of balding he has where it starts receding before thinning. I'm not trying to be a jerk just was pointing it out. He wears a hat constantly now. You will not find a recent picture or video of him without a hat. All I'm saying is he should just embrace it. It is what it is.
Love Relient K, but seriously, all that talking and not a single chord strummed to demonstrate the tone or what any of the effects do??? Not a particularly great rig rundown...
He's like a kid in a candy store, I love it.
:)
This was awesome, would have enjoyed him playing around with the pedals.
That would've been cool. Unfortunately, these videos are filmed on severe time constraints and we usually never have time for that. :(
It's cool, thanks for getting in there and delivering.
My Goodness! There's so much thought and planning that goes into this stuff
Yup!
Welcome to the music world.
I personally own the Mr.Black Supermoon and it's fantastic, great pedal and great sound for Relient K.
Relient K's Matt Hoopes shows off the gear that he uses on tour!
Who should we film with next?
Digital Tour Bus mark lee from third day
Matt Thiessen
Matt Thiessen!
Wow now we know where Ernie Ball got the idea to put the tuner in the volume pedal 🤔

From looking at this gear, I would assume they do!
Digital Tour Bus
Good observation, haha. I haven't watched yet but I plan to when I get the chance.
Daniel Flores You definitely should. The video is very interesting!

Mmhhmm tone was the best! Their other guitarist at the time used Jekyll & Hyde. Amazing pedal
Holy shit! That tuner INSIDE a volume pedal? Genius!

Then he created the 1981 DRV ☺️
What year was this?

Hoopes is obviously going bald which is why he wears the hat ALL THE TIME. There's nothing wrong with going bald Matt, embrace it.
There's also nothing wrong with wearing a hat. I wear one a lot and I'm not bald.

Digital Tour Bus there's a difference between wearing a hat a lot and wearing one all the time.

You won't be a fan of the majority of our Gear Masters episodes then. Sorry.
