From Kanata's support skill on Idol Showdown, to her actual rendition of Soran Bushi, to google searching the song origins... ultimately led me here.

It seems that some things truly are universal. Like sea shanties.

this is a land shanty lol . tuffguy work-hard and work smart crowd.. They busted their backs for what they had and they were proud.
This is a version like sounds as if Tom Waits had some influence in this

@@crazyj902-topic2 How is it a land shanty? It's literally about a fisherman.

@@scottnagatani Do you have any source so I can research that? I thought that it was Japanese (Yamato).

@@asamiyashin444 The song was a fisherman's sea shanty, the first recorded version was by a group of Otaru (fishing town/area in Hokkaido) fishermen . The "natives" to Otaru are Ainu. "Yaren" is an ancient Hebrew word, Soran" is a Hebrew word meaning "happy song". Soran translates to something akin to "fishing success". The indigenous Ainu are thought to have evolved from "Russian" boatmen who crossed the sea.

@@scottnagatani I don't believe the Hebrew word theory and the evolutionary stuff. But it could be that the song has Ainu influences.
