I LOVE This type of stuff, Joe does an amazing job at presenting these products and is a real professional. I would love one day to go over there for a show because this is what I GEEK out for, its not the nutrition or the training plans or how many carbs to eat.... I like new tech, Cheap tech, Expensive tech, tech I don't sell... I think it is al just fun. Anyways Let me know if you like videos like this. Joe was really nice to allow me to react to his content like this, and check out his channel for the full video.
Why 12 speed though? Wheeltop just proved that you can make a wireless groupset that can be changed in an app from 7-13 speed any time. Anyone making electronic or wireless groupsets and locking it down to a specific speed is just crippling the product on purpose for more profits. Multi-speed groupsets should be standard
It's marketed as a 12 speed group set, but it is compatible with down to 10 speed. Source is Chinese media.
yea I think these comanies can all allow you to change in the app but they sell it as 12 speed because its whats hot right now and being compared to the big names
There are some problems with this to consider. Chains, pulley wheels, and shifting performance, as well as product wear will all be different with each speed. I think there's a lot to consider and that 11 and 12 speed, and 10 and 11 speed, and 9 and 10 speed should be easy to swap between. 7 8 and 9 speed are all somewhat interchangeable already. But just keep in mind that these things can't be directly just changed in an app for these reasons. Your performance and product life will suffer.
@@GCPerformance18 OK, fair enough
@@diehardbikes Understood. I have a 3x9 training bike and 2x11 race bike. The chain width could be an issue if going from 7 to 13 overnight but I've found my 11sp chains work fine on 9. In terms of extra wear and tear, I don't really mind if it means I can buy one less groupset.
Shimano and SRAM put the prices so high that it is an incentive for others to come in.
yea they are letting them in the door
The stuff coming out of China is way more interesting and affordable than legacy brands. If given the choice and both products were the same price I would favor bikes like the Seka spear since it just looks cooler and has better tech.
Easy to be affordable when you don't have to engineer around other peoples patents and you don't provide liability insurance for your products.....
Its easy to make a bike frame its hard to optimize it. Engineering is about iteration and improvement. This is why we see US manufactures developing a lineage of products. Meanwhile China is putting out new attractive products with little development to capture market share.
Maybe Magene can be on Specialized bikes once they are available at your local Walmart 🤔
Lmao, I don’t think that rumor us true but who knows, specialized had there issues in the past with big box stores, and once announced they went into financial trouble and that’s where Merida stepped in.
Magene just need to start making frames next and then they'll have a full Magene bike.
I could see it, there carbon wheels are a great line, they could be the first ones to something like this full bike builds for afforsbale and take the guessing work out of it
Looking at the pricing for components on the Panda Podium website - I’m not super excited. The pricing is too close to name brands sold over discount websites, IMHO.
hmmm
Why so many Electronic Groupsets? Cuz it's much easier to make one, cheaper also. Cheap motors, cheap batteries and cheap buttons with basic bluetooth connection. I bet Mechanical groupset with amount of machining and moulding is more expensive then Di2 for Shimano to make .
Magene group looks almost exactly like Di2. As though when they were "designing" it they bought a Di2 groupset and calipers at the same time and just started taking measurements.
"Pair your shifters to your toaster"....lol
Competition is good for us.
Thank you for the frank talk on cassette compatibility. Some people seem to think there is some magic going on that nothing but brand and level match will work. I'm glad to hear a pro talk about how there may be some optimizations lost, but it works so don't sweat it if you like the cassette or price.
yea people get so caught up in the hyperglide ++ or srams 12 speed system with there flat top chains, but there are still heavy hitters out there like kmc making dif chains that work with both shimano and sram and also other companies pumping out cassettes this is nothing new, I am running a prestacycle cassette sprinting 1000 watts and also riding at speeds 26-28 with no jumping or shifting problems
@@GCPerformance18 Yeah. Here too. I've got some big Garbaruks with my Force setup on a gravel bike. And KMC chains on some of my other Shimano bikes. Both work great.
Although, I did realize recently that Garbaruk does not recommend their cassettes with KMC chains. They confirmed that they've had reports of issues. So of course I tried it 🙂 Works, but not well. Some rough shifting for unknown reasons. Glad they post it. Went back to the SRAM chain no problem
Shimano 105 di2 on my Winspace T1550 rim, simple and effectiveb
Timestamp 11:00 Send it and let’s go!!!💪🏼 Grant, u a nut!! Agree with you on proprietary cages. The Chinese tech is blastin off.
hahahaha
Dude you almost said "rim brakes" 3 times in a row... careful or you'll summon durianrider!
Hahahaha
I own two SEKA bikes one 2021 AFIELD & one 2022 EXCEED. All I can say is I love them to ride. Each of them has around 15k km on the clock and they work flawlessly.
that is very nice, from what I have seen they look really premium for the price and usually everyone who has them likes them
Just watched Joe’s video and boom now your follow-up reaction video, great
Yea Joe is the man
My rim brake bike has sram axs, no cables
Yep, all you need is the force shifters and you can use a rival derailleurs.
@@kimwarner6050 full force drivetrain with quarq spider power. Fantastic system on my 2016 Emonda ALR 😁
"You can make your shifters pair with your toaster" :-) Finally! :-)
HA
I have a Magene power meter crankset and HR strap for 3 years, and I just upgraded to rim ultegra di2 12sp and would definitely have chosen Magene because it’s actually (semi) wireless. Rim di2 is not.
yes there products seem top notch there crank is still going strong
The problem with the electronic rim brake groups, are some brands aren't di1 compatible to do the upgrade. Also by the time, where you buy all the components needed to complete a group set, not only the shifting components, like this brands do, you are going to spend more than in shimano 105Di2 and rival axs. Without all the garanties and know how local shops already have on those systems
Why do people still like rim brakes i dont understand why a couple of grams is more important than having 10x the durability and better power etc...
Yea this is the truth, a lot of frames are not made to house electronic grouos
@@ignaciosevil2157 in my case it was my first bike and I'm budgeting for a new one. When that happens it is going to be a gravel one, this is good enough for the road when the weather allows it.
@@GCPerformance18 the SRAM system is perfect for rim brake electronic grupos. But, they left that game long ago.
@@bernardo9202 Oh ok if its regarding budget. maybe there is a point but Durability is overlooked maybe. Disk brakes will outlast any rim brake 10x or 100x?
Can I switch the toaster to bagel mode. Bc bagel mode is more aero, stiffer faster and of course, lighter
hahahah
Thanks again! China really shouldn't be considered "Cheap " These days? It is a label used when they first started industry!
Yea that is true
@@GCPerformance18 they are cheap - they don't respect international patents and develop copycat products. There is a reason why none of these components will ever be distributed outside of China. No product liability insurance and distributors would get sued for selling patent infringing products. Look at the Quist hub - completely ripped off by Elite....Let's see ONE of these companies develop an orginal product that the international market likes besides "We'll it costs less...." which is the only selling point of this stuff. I cannot believe any shop would promote this stuff....
The aerodynamic is only about the shape. there is only one best solution under certain regulations and demands. The more effort you put into aerodynamic the closer you can get to that perfect exclusive shape. So every bike that focus on aero will end up looking alike.
You can buy DT Swiss carbon spokes no problem.
Stella is in my country a famous brand. It is a brand that sells only ebikes 😂.
This channel is just reacting now
Noooooooo!!! Lol
How robust are the Crw Craft Wheelset??
they are amazing wheels 25mm internal width front and 23mm internal in back 50mm front and 60mm back weight is around 1290 grams for the set..... wheels are top teir
Damn I just bought New Compagnolo C23 Bora Ultra WTO 45 ….. weight 1325kg…..
Seka Spear "nostril tail"
looks so cool
@@GCPerformance18 true but it looks so much like nostrils its kinda funny, hopefully they fix their QC issues and customer support wait times, their frames and design has so much potential
"I know what you guys are thinking"
SAVAGE!
I would stay away from the far sports Corbin spoked wheels with the DT swiss hub bought like eight pairs only one of them so far they weren’t even ridden yet, and the spokes came delaminated from the spoke nipples or what they use for their nipples. I also bought probably about 25 pairs of far sport wheels. I love them, but now I am afraid to recommend these rims to my customers
I have not seen farsports with carbon spokes and dtswiss wheels before I did not know they had these
But they now want the same prices for shitty tec. I would rather ride 105 Simmano
He sounds like jeremy vine
whos that
@@GCPerformance18 bbc tv presenter.
seka come with full titanium bolt.
very nice
Most people get a complete bike and don't try to install a groupset themselves. Definitely for most these other brands are novelties right now. You also are not going to find spare parts in any bike shop
of course not but in dew time if one of these companies gets a deal with a western brand it will come, I rmeeber when sram first started and now look at them
I like your react videos. Keep it coming 🎉❤
or the companies buy out the new electronic group set companies. then close them down and raise the price, because they have eliminated all competition. just like Microsoft and apple do with companies they purchase.they need to come out with wireless brakes. they should also add alexa so the rider can say shift gears or brake now.
yea I could see this as well
I've built 9 Chinese bikes in two years, so I am all in favour of the stuff. However, be careful. I installed 5 L-TWOO er9 groups. 2 RD died for no reason, and today, the battery on mine died. I plugged it last night, it was over 70pc. I jump on the bike, turn on the Garmin, the battery was almost empty, and it was charging (at the wall, not a battery pack) all night. So that is yet another problem with the erx/er9 that makes no sense, but is infuriating. These products are beta, they are not ready for release, but they aren't sold as such.
Magene is company that might make Shimano and SRAM start sweating. Their sensors and dual sided power meter (for $300 lol) work really well, and if the groupset is similar quality and competitively priced, it can be Shimano's & SRAM's nightmare.
The "nightmare" is actually Magene's software. I have their c606 head unit and it's virtually unusable because of the software.
Magene aren't that good. I have their rear light radar and it's pretty crap. They don't have the best electronics and engineers currently.
@@JFomo are you being serious or trolling
@@kimwarner6050 I'm being serious, I have the Magene radar and it's crap as. It's pretty on the outside and the light is nice and bright but the performance of the radar detection is a POS. This tells me Magene dressed up the radar with crappy electronics. Granted it cost 1/3 of the price of a Garmin radar so I probably shouldn't be too harsh. With Magene you get what you pay for, low price for low end performing product.
@@JFomo I've had mine since launch. It hasn't skipped a beat. Maybe you got a bad unit.
is it just me or china has exploded with new companies going full on drivetrain & carbon wheels & etc.... Magene and LTWOO really seem to have insane momentum. But SRAM has been so good to me that ill stick to giving them my money for a while.
Spoil alert. Big western brands don’t care about these companies and will never put these brands on their bikes
I'm afraid that there may be problems with the back, there may be cracks like mine,СЕКА To which I contacted the company, to which they asked me to cut the frame so that they would send me a new one I agreed but asked them to paint their frame yellow but I was refused and then they stopped responding. Here's company for you. A shame.
