This is one of the most dramatic and tragic locations we've visited so far on our journey. George Boldt, a self-made millionaire, built this modern-day castle for his much younger wife, Louise. Tragically, she died mid-construction and George halted all building work on the castle, left Heart Island, and never returned.

We visited Boldt Castle this last summer and really enjoyed it. Great job on the tour.
Isn’t it fabulous?? Glad you enjoyed the video 💖
That was a very beautiful & meaningful tour. Thank you so much for sharing it w/ us ;- ]
We’re so happy you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching 💕
In the 60's the castle was in very bad disrepair...falling apart due to the harsh winters....it made me sad as an 11 year old. NOW with restoration it is beautiful....so happy it has been saved
Thank you for watching. It was a joy to see it all restored. They’re still working on some rooms. 💗
I was there in 1978 on a school trip. Most of the castle was closed off and what was open was in great disrepair. Graffiti all over, nothing inside it at all.
Great video! I love the music. Hope to visit New York some day...
So glad you enjoyed it. Be sure to share you photos WHEN you visit.
Beautiful but truly heartbreaking that no one ever lived in it. Loved that stained glass atrium area and the main fireplace! SO much gorgeous detail.
It was a dramatic place for sure
I live in the town where this castle is!
Oh my goodness. We absolutely love that area. Lucky you!!
Some of that furniture was donated by his family
Oh we love that. Thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge. Are you local to the area?
I live about a half hour away in Ogdensburg

Peter - this was one of our favorite parts of the country.
Poor choice of music very distracting
