Didn't know most of these, though to be fair it would've been creepy if I had known how many save files were on your computer
idk man its kinda on you if you didnt know the 10th ride alphabetically in his first save file of 2021
To be fair, I think just about every rct player has a crap ton of save files lol
Yes it is good that you clarified that
@@MadameSomnambule When I was a kid I think I had over like 30 save files lol.
You should've known. It was on the test.
"I just killed 32 guests on this coaster"
Ah there it is.
"I just killed another 3 Guests, this time by drowning"
As to be expected.
"Hee hee hee hee hee!"
That part legitimately made me laugh.
Look, we've all done it.
More useless info: the park at 7:47 is a perfect re-creation of the park shown in the "oldest RCT1/2" video. Nice detail. =]
The funny thing is that I wrote and recorded the number 32 for the number of guests I killed on the ride well before I realized that 32 guests were killed in that old RCT1 video.
The twist- Marcel originally uploaded that video using the park he made for this.
@@MarcelVos that table at 7:10 sounds like something for a challenge..
Aw I was hoping I would be the only one to notice that 😄
Fun fact, on the mobile version of RCT Classic, if you hold your finger on one spot you get a zoomed-in magnifying glass to let you select small things on a phone screen. However, if you do this and highlight a duck, you get the quack sound effect EVERY FRAME, which is incredibly goofy.
Also that 'Hee hee hee' was absolutely unhinged
i'm p. sure it's just woody woodpecker's laugh
in other words, you're not wrong
@@hi-i-am-atan I don't even know who woody woodpecker is. I've heard the name, but have no idea what the character is.
@@MarcelVos he's pretty much just another bugs bunny, just lighter on the wise guy and heavier on the screwball
i honestly don't know much about him beyond that, since i'm pretty sure i've watched 0 of his cartoons and have only really been exposed to him at universal theme parks and stuff celebrating old cartoons. even that alone's enough for his laugh to be burnt into my grey matter, though, so it wouldn't surprise me if you ran into stuff w/ a cameo or reference to him and it just lodged itself into your subconscious
immediate edit: also thinking about it, it's not far from just laughing to the tune of la cucaracha, so add that to the slurry of dated memes that the dark reaches of the brain could've been drawing from
@@MarcelVos I think Iskall85 (a swede) had that same "who is this i dont even" moment in a previous season of Hermitcraft. I guess old American cartoons aren't that well known in Europe?
@@WackoMcGoose Funny thing, Woody Woodpecker is extremely popular in, I believe it was Brazil.
I have another useless one. The Mega Park in RCT1 vanilla doesn't appear anywhere in the install files. The game will dynamically generate the scenario and its associated file after you complete all the scenarios.
With how these games are programmed, I don't think there's such a thing as useless information. It continues to amaze me.
"I'll probably never answer for the hundreds of thousands of guests I've murdered".
That's to be expected, Marcel, just...
"heeeheeeheeheeeee"
Ok, that laugh was creepy.
marcel vos is secretly woody woodpecker confirmed?
that laugh caught me off guard lol
The duck detail is additional game play and 100% useful. In modern times that would be DLC.
You can also pop balloons that guests have released, by clicking on them.
or a mod
@@davidpreston9909 That'll teach those balloons.
Fun untrue fact: If you click the duck often enough, it will explode!
yes! I enjoyed clicking on ducks, like after I built a ride, I'd feel as if it was heralded in with a duck fanfare haha.
I love how many of these are just like "my most used scenery item is X." "the 5th ride in my favorite park is named Y" etc. it's very dumb but it really reiterates the "uselessness" in a way that makes a viewer laugh, even when they're surrounded by other technically useless but more normal information like "guests get a special thought if you stare at them too long" "there are [large number] of possible color combinations for a ride" etc
On the subject of ducks; clicking on ducks in RCT3 not only makes them quack, but has a chance to make them lose all their feathers.
You can also pop your guest's balloons while they are still holding them.
Man those user submitted coasters always made me question reality as a kid as to how the hell I was supposed to afford them and even have the space to build them.
8:04 The middle colour for the Car Ride is actually used: it's for the stripes on the spinning tunnel element. I don't remember if that was a vanilla element for the Car Ride or was brought over from the Ghost Train in OpenRCT2, though.
you only have this track piece for the catshire cars (which was a seperate ride)
I legitimately cackled at the "hehehehehehe" after never answering for hundreds of thousands of guests marcel has murdered. It felt so out of place from marcel in the best possible way! I love the usual informative and chill/casual vibes of the normal videos, but throwing something like that in a guaranteed laugh, at least from me.
I just had the horrifying realisation that the trees don’t have shadows as part of their sprites. I can never unsee this anymore now
It's crazy that Chris Sawyer made so many references in his game to himself. I always wondered if he knew it would be a classic game still played over 20 years later.
8:53 is the best part
The addition of objectives of all scenarios around 6 min sounds like a good base for a challenge run where you must achieve those in every scenario in the game.
Knowing that the ducks can quack is arguably not useless information as it may be crucial to bringing happiness to someone.
I have to assume that GWS are the initials of Chris Sawyer's wife or child or something.
Also fun fact about the ducks; if you play for 36 hours without stopping, when you click on them, they don't quack, but say "Go to bed, Kevin," in the disappointed voice of your grandmother.
These were awesome. I actually knew the final one, as I played that scenario last week, and very appropriately used that lake to create a boat hire called "Dong Lake."
Love all your videos, Marcel! During this video you mention how guests jump to see over the barriers in the maze - I was always under the impression that they were jumping for joy because they loved being on the maze ride. Your explanation makes way more sense 😄
Not just me? Cool.
You should do a challenge where you get the total challenges in every scenario done in one park!
The hardest part of that would be not ragequitting due to the lag of 40600 guests.
@@MarcelVos Part of the challenge is coding the optimisations to OpenRCT2 to make it run better.
You'll have to settle for 40600 total admissions
Just ignore the guest count and try to go for the vanilla limit of RCT2 as it's what would be more realistic anyway. Custom park or maybe RCT2 six flags? (the build your own one with the empty park and lake in the middle, with a generous loan offer) @@MarcelVos
@@MarcelVos Do it in Forest Frontiers. This is a reasonable and sane requested from someone who is definitely not deranged
8:11 F for Jessica, Kimber and Arco
My sisters and brother in law.
1:00 I always got such a kick out of seeing the, "Is someone watching me?" thoughts when I was a kid.
Reducing the rings on space rings actually blew my mind
Legit didn't even know it was a thing, never done it.
Here’s an interesting fact about roller coaster tycoon three. Normally you cannot have a roller coaster track going through a flat ride unless you do mods. However, if you put down the water coaster water trough section, you can put a flat ride over it because for some reason the game considers any section with the water trough to be empty. Therefore, you can put a flat right down on top of it.
"I just killed 32 guests on this coaster."
For those that didn't notice, the coaster is the exact same as the oldest RCT youtube video marcel could find.
This feels like what would happen if you and Marcel Vos ever got drunk at a party and you asked him about RCT 😂😂😂
2:28 I found out on accident as a kid. I did it to make the Observation Tower faster and found it to get stuck.
At 8:04; the middle color is for the spinning tunnel element. Though for vanilla RCT2 you're right, because the sport car ride does not have access to the tunnel element but it still has this color option. The cat cars do have access to it though. In OpenRCT2 all car rides can use the tunnel. :)
Ive always loved when guests thought "I have the strangest feeling that someone is watching me".
What i learned today: Marcel is into counting and calculating things
The ducks was actually pretty useful
When i get bored. I am gonna abuse some duck noices
These will make for great conversation starters during dinner parties.
7:33 Makes sense. The images contain transparency information. And the transparent areas are not considerd for hit-checks.
Given that sprites are always square, that is necessary.
And as a side note, I’ve played with a game engine where that feature can be toggled. It frustrated me that I had to click my buttons in specific areas for them to register before finding out what the specific check mark was for
@@qazxsw21000 That makes no sense on buttons. There the hit-check should be on the buttons background image. Not the foreground one.
@@christopherg2347 well, the engine treats all “fields” the same by default, but the extra options modify their behaviors. A “field” is more or less just a placeholder for things like sprites or text (input and output) on the UI. Usually for buttons, there are two fields. One acts as the button itself and the other for the button text/image/etc. One of them can be left out and the other set to have the entire field act as a clickable area. The option exists to allow players to be able to click behind the field without activating the field. The engine calls it “per-pixel cursor” or something close to that.
These are actually hilarious. They are the perfect amount of interesting but useless. I love what you have selected.
7:40 the hitbox is so precise because its not a hitbox, rather the pixel you are on top off
These in between lines about murdering guests make Marcel sound like some sort of villain that had committed alot of war crimes. "I'll never answer for hundreds of guest Ive murdered" 😂
Sandstone Skyscraper Bottom Inverted Corner looks too intense for me.
GWS usually stands for "Get well soon", but that's probably not the intention here.
By the Emperor, man. It obviously stands for Games Workshop. (I have no idea what it stands for, but if I had to guess it's in memoriam for CS's mum or something to that effect.)
5:34 absolute banger 🔥
i think that giggle was the most intense emotion you've ever expressed in a video and frankly I'm terrified
If there was a true sequel to RCT2, it would be "RCT3: The Guests' revenge against Marcel"
@4:44 This is actually an incredibly useful fact and i will cherish this knowledge forever
7:05 Do I smell a challenge? I kind of want to give RCTopen a spin and seriously try for those numbers
4:12 New challenge! Beat every scenario by only building the Hyper Twister design u(1114).
5:48 - thank you Marcel for including this.
“I will probably never answer for the guests I’ve killed”
Oh don’t be so sure, they could try to make another Roller Coaster Tycoon reboot that ends up sucking horribly.
Well... you certainly can't say we were click baited with the title on this one😂 We got exactly what was described. 10/10 would watch another set of useless facts
8:52 is actually really interesting, definitely going to incorporate that in my next playthrough
Alternative title: 10 minutes of useless RCT facts interrupted by Marcel's crimes against humanity
I love how so many of these sound like a setup for actually useful info, and then the video just moves on.
i would like more of these, i laughed so much at some of the more absurd facts
"Doc are you writing this down!? This is _vital!"_
Finally someone pointed out the lake in factory capers. They knew what they were doing.
In the next video:
Marcel builds a park, which full fills all requirements at 7:09
10:36 - That's the sound of a rocket engine.
"The snowball scenery has a face on it"
Yeah ok that is pretty useless information lol
I have finally found the nerdiest corner of UA-cam. I am here for it, cheers Marcel!
10:38 The Laka doesn't look sus, it looks like the strongest shape.
6:45 sounds like a challenge to do them all at once
I cannot explain why or watched this, or why I was absolutely captivated the entire time. Thank you for the great content as always Marcel!
7:06 I want to see a single park meet all these goals at once
I remember discovering the duck quack by accident 😂
You can also click floating balloons and they'll pop
8:52 THE GIGGLE OH MY GOD
There is no "useless" information with this game, just information I didn't already know.
My favourite part is the random facts meshed in about Marcel specifically. The "I just killed 32 guests on this coaster" between other facts got me. I think this was just an excuse for him to confess his crimes.
Another fun fact if you slow down to the effect of Vos' "Heheheheheheee" then you get this creepy vibe that will make you regret life itself.
He included three murder confessions. What a madlad.
4:44 - That's a very good and useful fact. ^^
That laugh at 8:53 is that of a mad man with nothing to lose.
Definitely do more videos like this! It was a fun watch :D
5:50 I've watched enough anime to know where this is going...
I have never played RCT2.
I have never owned any RCT game.
I have no particular intention nor desire to play said games.
Every video Marcel makes is 10 minutes of useless information about RCT2
Yet I clicked.
Why am I addicted?
this is the content i subscribed for thanks for the awesome RCT2 videos
Color combinations, large numbers...
SNOWBALLS DO WHAT NOW?!
"The SECOND last entry on the music list is..."
You weren't kidding when you said these are random facts. LOL.
"If you click on a duck, it will actually quack." Idk, that seems quite useful and HIGHLY important.
NGL a custom scenario that needs 40,600 guests, $3,260,000 park value, $23,000 ride income, $1,000 stall income and 40 coasters with a combined 260 excitement sounds like a great challenge for OpenRCT2
Exactly the video I was looking for, thanks! ❤
Was literally just wondering what i was gonna do for the next 10 minutes. What good timing this vid has
Here is some information that I noted whilst playing the Steam version of RCT1 Deluxe:
Pokey Park, Rainbow Valley, Urban Park and Micro Park can be completed using only pre-designed roller coasters. This is because some of the user submitted designs are small enough to fit inside these parks.
You can win the safest park award without having any rides.
When a mechanic is repairing a ride, you can sometimes hear them using a hammer.
If you drop a guest or staff member on a tile that is sloped so that half of it is underwater, they will land on the ground, but soon move into the water and drown.
Ivory Towers has a lot of litter from food and drinks, but there are no stalls in the park that they could have been bought at.
When you complete a scenario and the guests applaud, some of them clap for longer than others.
Rides that suffer a station brakes failure can become perpetual motion machines if none of their trains collide. I saw this happen with the u(0401) Flying Roller Coaster, where multiple trains were going in a constant circuit but never crashed.
you are correct about the 'sus' pond in Factory Capers. what makes me feel worse about it is putting flower beds all around it in it's full glory in the normal version of the game - and rowing boats. I'm going to be over there --> with a gallon of eyebleach.
6:52 What a horrific stream that would turn into if you had to do it all at once. 😂
Duck Quack is not useless information that is incredibly useful information to know. Critical gameplay mechanic.
I'd love to see what a park that meets every scenario requirement looks like! 6:53
Considering OpenRCT2 raised the guest cap and park size cap, it could happen...
Well done, Marcel! I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks!
It would be interesting to see a challenge where you have to complete the requirements at 7:06, but all in one park.
your detail around 7:06 makes me wonder: can you beat all of RCT2 simultaneously (using one map and all objectives applying to that one map)?
Great video! I love useless facts about RCT. I wonder how many bushes there are in all the scenarios combined...
"I have a feeling someone is planning to drown me"
"ITS A FREAKING EMU!"
Wow I learned so much in this video, thanks Marcel!
The fact that you can reduce the space rings to 1 ring is not entirely useless if you're trying to "store" your guests in a long queue line lol.
Marcel Vos uploads the same day as Spirit of the Law AND it’s my day off?!
The stars have aligned!
I love that this is a mix of truly useless facts about the game, but also useless facts about Marcel.
"I just killed another three guests :D"
Never change, Marcel.
Wow! So many things I knew, but had totally forgotten! I remember being so bothered that I couldn't build the grey pyramid.
4:40 A nuclear detonation is the only possible explanation.
9:01 wow when i played this as a kid i thought it was an error, i never realized it was meant to be Chris Sawyer's initials.
One cool thing about Rollercoaster Tycoon on the original Xbox that I miss so much when I started playing on PC is that it had a magnifying glass. You could see things closer through the magnifying glass icon, just like you would when observing ants. I wish it was added to the PC game in a patch!
