This is one of those uncommon movies that was very special as a child and holds up flawlessly into adulthood. The wit is just so strong, and the movie never insults your intelligence.

@@SuperCatacata because there is a common misconception or idea that animated movies can never be as good as live action movies. We all know that is not true.

@@unpopularopinions7407 Yeah, i can understand where she is coming from. If done well, it could be cool, but it most likely wouldnt be good which is the problem.
I firmly believe that this is one of the reasons why Titanfall 2 became such a beloved game even after poor sales. The story of a boy and his killer robot best friend resonates with people very well.
One of my favourite movies. If not my number 1 animated movie. It has flaws. But it has something very very few cartoons have. Talking about death. “It’s not bad to die.” Those words always stuck with me.
The early 2000s mixed style animations are the absolute best. Blending computer and traditional animation. Think Atlantis, Treasure Planet, the Prince of Egypt.
I imagine they would make it semi-live action but make CatDog more animated and disregard certain functions. The first thing I thought of was the live action Clifford. Despite it getting terrible reviews the way Clifford fits into live action is better then I expected.
A classic. Thanks for making these highlight vids! Sometimes its hard to find the movies or the time to watch them but this makes it much more accessible.
Yeah nah, I'm with chat. Both the storytelling and animation in this film is spectacular, a live-action adaptation could only take half of that away. Hollywood and people in general need to grow out of the idea that animation is just for kids, ironically.
One of the GREATEST hand-animated movies of all time. By the great Brad Bird no less. One of my all time favorites. I still remember having the VHS as a kid
Literally every time they say "Superman" I start to tear up just because I know how much he's willing to sacrifice for his friend. That alone is what makes the moment special whether he dies or not.
Sad fact: when the writer/director was working on this film he was dealing with the murder of his sister, his pitch for the movie was "if a gun had a soul and didnt want to be a gun"
Only gripe i have with the Iron Giant, was Cartoon Network ran a marathon for an entire weekend, of just the movie. And as a kid, having only that channel to watch... just aaaaahhhh. Still great movie.
I would actually love it if she did a watchalong for Titan AE. I've never been able to find many people who remember it, let alone people who liked it (most seem kinda neutral, like "that certainly was a movie they made"), but I think it deserves a second chance at getting people to watch it :(
I would like to know what messed up alien species thought it’d be cool to send a giant robot to Earth with the mission to destroy everything. Imagine if the sequel is that specific alien race coming to Earth and be like, “Da fuq!? Why are they all still alive!?”
A great movie. I still don't understand Ame's tastes though. Her comment alluding to the rushed pacing is weird. The movie has surprisingly great pacing for its length without feeling overbearing
Ame has…..interesting tastes, not really ones I take with the seriousness of a critic’s though. After she said she was disappointed with Tai Lung’s voice in Kung fu panda and said she thought it would be deeper (I mean what? Ian mcshane has a really deep voice, and is also a fucking icon) I decided not to take her comments too seriously.
honestly, I think she didn't think much about it. I mean I kinda get what she means, like more time to show the bonding between the kid and the iron giant. but what shown is enough, if anything, if there are too many of happy times with the iron giant, it will feel sidetracked from the actual storyline of the movies. so yeah, I think it's not exactly a critique, but it's just that moment when you end a movie and then you want to see more of them, just having fun, like some kind of daily lives thing. the score she gives is really high for her standard too so she loves the movie.
classic 2D animation just have that beautiful and warm feeling to it, that 99.99% of live action or 3D just can't reach. there are a couple of notable exceptions, but they are too few and far between

Is it a frown? I’d say sad face
Her smile must be protected at all costs
Ah yes, the classic tale of a boy and his GIANT ALIEN WARMECH.

Yk, I honestly think it would have helped if she'd let herself cry at that scene.
I know I always do.
Even this shortened down clip version makes me tear up
Lol same, just felt the tears welling up out of nowhere
