Thanks Simon, always good to see your videos. Educational and informative, as well as entertaining and enjoyable. I've watched your fly casting lessons as well. I usually do the still water fly fishing, but, next season i plan on doing lots of small stream fly fishing. What a great day out. Thanks

Nice Vid, Simon. I like your Snowbee gear, and indeed own some of their waders. I live in the UK but don't even fish here, I much prefer to fly to NZ for a month or so most years, and fish there. Watching this and comparing to what I see in front of me when I'm in NZ just confirms to me how lucky we are in NZ to have the conditions we do. We are having to fight to preserve them - similar issues to here: farming run-off pollution, farmers taking water from the rivers etc - but it's worth it. Not all fly fishing in NZ is wilderness big-river fishing - although watching the vids on UA-cam you might think it is - we do small stream stuff, too. I prefer it, it can be a lot of fun. Smaller fish, sure, but a more interesting battle, the spotting and stalking can be a wonderful thrill: the Girls might have got it wrong, I think, size isn't everything.

A MATZ airspace classification is the same as the airspace classification within which it lies, mostly class G (open airspace) in the UK. In the centre of the MATZ is an Aerodrome Traffic Zone, ATZ.
The MATZ airspace has no legal recognised status under the UK Air Navigation Order (ANO) for civil pilots and no prior permission is required to enter it. For safety and good airmanship, pilots are strongly encouraged to obtain 2-way radio communications with the controlling Air Traffic Service before transitting the airspace.

Is this public water? Seems like the trout were pretty large for a public stream not covered by catch and release or stocked and private.

Nice video. May I ask, did you get that tippet cleaned so as not to turn away the trout?
