Do NOT apologize, Harri. It was a pleasure to witness your sincere, unfiltered joy in the song. Thanks so much for sharing!
😃✌🏾
Oh that was fantastic, your reaction and pure joy were priceless .No apologies necessary 🙏
Amazing reaction. That's how we all felt at a Sherbet concert.
That was beautiful. Xxx
Adorable reaction
Omg, I just witnessed a young child come out of you the moment that beat dropped. I love it!!!!!
🤭😃😃✌🏾
Best reaction to a song ever.
The band is Sherbet. I think the song came out in 74. Aussie band. Tried their luck in the US under the name Highway. They have a string of hits here in Australia. Daryl Braithwaite, the lead singer, revived his solo career in the late 80’s. one song in particular, The Horses, was a World smash hit.
Thanks for sharing.
Sherbet, great Aussie band from the 70's. The spelling is from cricket, whenever the bowler got a wicket, they would turn to the umpire and shout 'Howzat?' to get confirmation. Great reaction Harri, your honest joy, made my day. ❤
Tania..❤️
Even some of the lyrics make me think of cricket.
"You messed about, I caught you out, Howzat?"
Batsman messing about with stroke play and bowler has him caught out as mode of dismissal. Don't think it meant that way as a song but always took it that way as a little kid that played cricket and bowled.
Think my older sister had a crush on lead singer from memory so I heard a lot of this band Sherbet before I even knew what music was.
@@shaundgb7367 It was meant that way, obviously it's about someone finding out their partner was messing around, but the wordplay and double entendre was intentional. Only in the 70's, lol.
@@HarriBestReactionsHowzat? short for how's that?. .Appeal to a cricket umpire for an out.
it means "How's That?"
Still watch this at least once a week. Better than any medication, a real happy shot of pure joy ❤
Your reaction was the epitome of pure unbridled joy. What a refreshing reaction.
Just like candy 😃
I can’t believe that I am hearing this song again. I was a 10 years old when this song knocked Abba off number 1 place on the charts ...in Australia....thank you so much for the memories 😊
Finally see someone doing a Sherbet song. It was a really popular cricketing term. When a bowler hit out the batsman’s wicket they would yell HOWZAT! to the umpire. This band just capitalised on the saying at the right time. I recall walking around a department store with my aunty at the time this was popular and this was playing over the store intercom. When it came to the chorus everyone stopped and sang it out loud ‘Howzat!’. I would have been about 18. I’m 66 now and still smile at the memory.
When I visited Australia in 1976 they were like the second coming of the Beatles. Huge following Down Under. Never understood why they weren’t big here in America. “Howzat” peaked at #61 on the U.S. chart.
Well. It is about Cricket after all. Those Yanks simply have no culture 😱😜
I remember seeing Daryl and the boys from Sherbet on the Dinah Shore Show back in the day (Nov '76, according to the search engine), and remember how Ms Shore was almost visibly salivating over that hunk of spunk Daryl Braithwaite, when he and the band appeared on the show, dressed in painted on satin with copius amounts of bare chest on display... there was goss at the time of a tryst between D & D, but I think it was just that, goss. They were a very good band, with most of the members still involved in the industry today. Unfortunately we lost Clive Shakespeare in 2012 to cancer, but as far as I'm aware, the others are still going strong. Daryl is still a regular performer on the circuit, his most popular hit song "The Horses" having become an unofficial anthem. Garth Porter is a music producer these days and works with a lot of popular artists. Tony Mitchell, singer, songwriter, muso and producer, co-wrote Howzat with Garth Porter.
I could probably go on but it's all findable if you let your fingers do the walking...
Go a little more overboard why don’t you 🤦🏻♀️
I think they went to America but since there was already an Americsn band called Sherbert, the Australian guys had to perform as The Sherbs. Didn't catch on.
On that groups like Journey and Rush failed to chart here in Australia
What a great band Sherbet were. Daryl Braithwaite is still entertaining us to this day. They were a very popular band in the 70's, I was so in love with their drummer! :)
Yes me too! Alan Sandow was so hot back then😁
Haha yes Alan Sandow. Always had the shirt open with the hairy chest. Great times and great songs from Sherbet
@@Shellgrit his uncle lived around the corner from my mother in law's place
@@eviekelpie1 How cool is that!
OMG I liked the drummer too, but in a very innocent pre-teen, pre-hormonal way 😂
I can relate to your joy , I remember first learning to download songs I would sit at computer for hours trying to find songs from the past that I was not sure of the titles . It's awesome to reconnect with them and and a bygone era . The old music keeps me in a time warp , you don't hear much modern stuff to make you leave the bygone era !
Being an Aussie this is a favourite of mine. Lead singer Daryl Braithwaite has some awesome solo songs.
' Old Sid'
My favourite is "One Summer"
Happy for you that you found some of your past Daryl is still performing. Sherbet (aka Highway or The Sherbs) was one of the most successful Australian rock bands of the 1970s. The 'classic line-up' of Daryl Braithwaite on vocals, Tony Mitchell on bass guitar, Garth Porter on keyboards, Alan Sandow on drums, and Clive Shakespeare on guitar provided their teen-oriented pop style. In 1976 Shakespeare left and was soon replaced by Harvey James. Sherbet's biggest singles were "Summer Love" (1975) and "Howzat" (1976), both reaching number one in Australia. "Howzat" was also a top 5 hit in the United Kingdom. The band was less successful in the United States, where "Howzat" peaked at No. 61. As The Sherbs they also reached No. 61 in 1981 with "I Have the Skill". The group disbanded in 1984. Subsequent re-unions have occurred since 1998.
According to rock music historian, Ian McFarlane, "alongside Skyhooks, Sherbet was the most successful Australian pop band of the 1970s. With a run of 20 consecutive hit singles to its credit, and 17 albums that yielded ten platinum and 40 gold disc awards, Sherbet was the first domestic act to sell a million dollars' worth of records in Australia". In 1990 Sherbet were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Peace out.
There was also the Sherbet v. Bay City Rollers rivalry at my school 🤣
@@kayelle8005 Hell yeah!
Harri, no need to apologize at all! Music is all about joy and memories and emotions! So glad you reconnected with a great memory from your childhood.
Great reaction brother. One of my old favourites i used to hear on the radio back when i was a kid in the seventys👋😊👍👌❤️ brings great memories
Just Love your truth and enthusiasm... No need for apologies 😊😆😁
Another great Aussie band !!! ... the Aussie talent is endless.
Us Aussie girls in the 70s were crazy mad over Sherbet, including yours truly 😁. Such a popular Aussie group. I had posters in my bedroom and have seen them live too. Check out Summer Love and an early one from 1969, Can you feel it baby
True. You chicks drooled lol
Can You Feel It is such a classic!
@@sleuthinsandals1230 I love it so much. Darryl's vocals here are amazing!
I was a Hush girl myself but loved Sherbet too. I saw them play live at a Countdown taping in the 70’s and we met Darryl afterwoods. He was so lovely!
Actually. Seeing your joy was my Christmas and birthday present 🎁
A reggae version of this song is being used on Australian TV right now to promote this summer's Australia VS West Indies cricket matches. The West Indies (Windies) cricket teams practically introduced reggae to Australia when they toured here in the 70s. Around the time Howzat came out, there was another cricket song called Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc that was really popular. Maybe you could react to that.
I grew up in Australia in the 70's there was no bigger band than Sherbet, teenage girls reacted to Daryl Braithwaite like he was the second coming. Best reaction video I have ever seen!👍
My most favourite band since I was 11...and that was 48 years ago!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Daryl is still going strong in Oz. He is 73 now and still sings on stage. Another Aussie treasure.
Loved your sincere and unabashed reaction, Harri...can't get any better. Loved the catchy tune, too! I am surprised I had never heard it before, but so glad to know it now.
😃✌🏾
Here in Oz they were everything in the 70s. This song was the theme for the cricket
I immediately think of Dennis Lillee in his heyday 😊
Loved your reaction Harri, Sherbet had many big hits here in Australia. Howzat was their biggest hit. If you liked this song then you would love their song called Summer Love.
Yaaasss!!! Howzat Harri! Love this song too. Has such a great 70s vibe and love the slang way of saying “How’s that?!”. Sherbet was a fun Aussie band from the 70s. Summer Love is another good song of theirs.
Loved your reaction! 🤗❤️
Oooh, I loved Summer Love. You just reminded me! Ty!😁
I love that reaction! Awesome. One of my favourite bands of my childhood… 🇦🇺🇦🇺
This is joyful, Harri. I'm unfamiliar with the particular song, but I know what it's like to finally find an old earworm from childhood. This was fun. Great stuff, man!
I probably reacted the same way the day I rediscovered Phoebe Snow singing "Every Night".
I've never heard the full version of this song and it's really good.! Sherbet were huge when my family moved to Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
I'll definitely be checking out some of your other videos after seeing your great reaction to this song cheers mate 👍
As a Canadian, this song wasn't a hit over here at all. I discovered this as a delete in a record store some years after it was released and I was, as you say gobsmacked. I loved it and for life of me I don't understand why it wasn't a hit back in 1976 here in N.A. Glad you discovered it Harri.
There are soooo many Australian songs that were fantastic but never made it overseas. People are just discovering them now through You Tube.
@@barnowl5774 Angels!!!, Icehouse!!!, etc etc :-)
That's alright, as a 60 year old Australian I'd never heard of 'Rush' up until a couple of years ago. I know....I want to kick my own ass now. It's just that they never received any airplay down here...a bit like 'Journey'...I knew the name but not the music, although I did know Steve Perry from his hit song " Oh Sherry" back in the early 80's.
This would be almost meaningless in nth america.
Gotta be a cricketting countrg to understand it
Omg i haven't heard this in 40 yrs. Great. Reminds me of my childhood in North London
Omg!
Looooooved your reaction .I too have loved this song for many years......its a banger! 🔥 🇦🇺
By far the best reaction of any song from any reactor ever. This is exactly the point of listening to music.
Priceless!!!! So glad it was an Aussie song you loved. Our cricket saying “howzat” 💞
Sherbert - fabulous Aussie band. They has some amazing songs and Darryl Braithwaite has a version of Horses that is an Aussie anthem. More talent from the great land down under! Excellent reaction
The term "Howzat" was used by cricket players to umpires. The song just found its way into the adverting commercials of the time. It is still used today.
Now that is a reaction Harri, right from the heart! Like a kid in a candy store and so happy you found it. I had a song I searched for many years and finally found it too.
😃
This wasn't as big a hit in the USA as it was elsewhere, but it did get some airplay. That was back in the day when DJs could program some of their own music. This band & another Australian band called Icehouse should have been bigger. They were both excellent.
I remember this so well! There was a plethora of superb bands back in the 70’s - you might like to try ‘January’ by Pilot - another classic we grew up with!
Beautiful reaction. Such joy to such a simple thing. ❤
Harri, you're reaction is priceless, so happy you found this song. Life is good! Thanks Harri
This song is one of many from the soundtrack of my youth, growing up in Australia in the late 70's. It has also stuck in my mind ever since, although I knew the name of the song all along. Yes, it's undeniably late 70's sounding.
Music is a beautiful thing. 😍
That real moment of JOY, that SMILE, that connection to CHILDHOOD and blissful times!! GREAT REACTION!!! Thank you! It takes me back.
Such a joy just to see your face reaction. I love that song too. I recall I e skating to this. Silver blades Sheffield. They were an Ozzy band. Why not listen to, ''Little does she know''. The kirstall flyers. Cheers. moog.
I remember this, wow, I forgot all about this, great song! 👍🎶
Harri, this is why music is classed as an art, absolutely fabulous reaction mate. I remember at the time SHERBET were an Australian band who came to the UK and had this hit. Great memories are made of this.
And here in Oz they had many many hits!
Harri! This is exactly why I love you! You are so open minded and throw caution to the wind, which allows you to take risks. This makes for some truly authentic responses to music that you have had filed away somewhere. I love it when you stumble across some material that’s lurking beneath the surface and it is awakened by a certain performance. Just wonderful!! You are the best Harri 🌺✌️
My beautiful Debbie 😘🖤😃
Sherbet, another Aussie classic band.
Singer Daryl Braithwaite had a successful solo career too, through the 80s, examples are 'One Summer' and 'The Horses'
I have never heard this song but I just love the joy in your reaction!
Miraculous reaction, so genuine! HeArt warming, always love finding music shared
Your reaction was a joy to watch ❤️ and a lovely trip down memory lane for me. I think I was about 8 when this song came out & Sherbert were HUGE!
The lead singer Daryl Braithwaite went on to have a successful solo career. Sherbet reformed in 2006 for the Logies Awards. The performance is on UA-cam.
I have the same reaction when I've heard a song I haven't heard for years. I love how music can touch every emotion.
Nice to see someone so thrilled over a long-lost song !
Harri, your reaction was beautiful.loved it. I love this song and the band has another song for you to check out called Summer lovin.
It's Summer Love
@@eviekelpie1 oops. Sorry, yes it is. I had the song playing in my head and just thought it was lovin.
Fantastic song from my childhood too H, fantastic reaction..
LOL I know it feels good to find these songs < I have done it with some I didnt know name and it brought back that happy feelings of being a kid again
They were a great band. Life Is For Living album had so many solid tracks
I love it when you find that tune that’s been in your head for years
I feel your joy mate, iv'e come across songs that brought back childhood, or memories of my youth that I hadn't heard in yonks😊🎶🎶🎶👍
One of my favourite songs from long ago for me too. Love the reaction Harri. I have enjoyed this type of experience too with a song, with me it was a song called Sky High by a band called Jigsaw, it's like meeting a long lost friend isn't it a genuine delight to behold.
I wish i could double heart this video. There's nothing like reliving our childhood. The joy reflects on your face.
😃🖤
Sherbet started in 69 and by the mid 70s were one of Australia's biggest (if not the biggest) bands. In late 75 they were rocked when founder & lead guitarist Clive Shakespeare quit and there were questions being asked about the band's future. They replaced Clive with Harvey James and this was their first single afterwards, it answered any doubts about their future. It was massive in Australia and went #2 in the UK. Unfortunately they were a band which many defined by their pop music and teenage girl following. This wasn't fair as they were all wonderful musicians and songwriters and Daryl Braithwaite had one of the finest voices this country has produced. Their production was also top notch, Howzat would have been one of the most sophisticated recordings produced in Australia at the time. They also toured extensively over the country and to many places outside of capital cities. Daryl was 27 in this video and still performs extensively with his own band now at the age of 73. He performs Howzat as part of his set. In this video he is singing a live vocal, in the final stages of the song he sings "goodbye, oh, oh" - in the recorded version of the song he holds the "goodbye" all the way into the next lyric.
Howzat is the common appeal made by Aussie cricketers to the umpire , appealing for the batsman to be given out.
Chanel 9 in Australia jumped all over this song and used it to advertise the Test matches , especially when the West Indies toured here to play Australia.
Many years after leaving Sherbet , Darryl did another record that became a true Aussie anthem and still is.
HORSES or THE HORSES..... one of the 2.
Not to be confused with Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones. lol
AWESOME reaction!!
I still have the original 45 of this that I bought back in the 70's. Absolutely love this song and the reaction!
Damn! Uou should have told me all this time! 🤣😂🤣
Oh Harri! You are like a Child on Christmas Morning!!
🤣😂🤣 Totally!
Absolutely 👍every thing good on this song. Sticks like glue in your head. With you,Harri 👊👊👍😁
So pleased for you Harri!!!
Sherbet had many hits in Australia in the 70s and some international success. Lead singer Daryl Braithwaite was massive in the 80s and at the age of 73 is still touring. Boyfriend of Olivia Newton John when they were 10. Live and no auto tune or lip syncing.
What a brilliant reaction mate!👍👍❤️
You should've reached out to your older Aussie subbers Harri lol. We know it VERY well. It got played relentlessly & especially during Cricket season lol.
The lead singer Daryl Braithwaite later went solo and had a huge hit with a song called 'The Horses'... Which is one of Australia's favourite songs to this day. A reaction maybe!?!?😉
✌️❤️🇦🇺
😁😁🤭
You are a treasure Harri! Loved your reaction. It's the absolute same pleasure
I feel when a forgotten song appears on your channel for me. Thanks for sharing.
Don't know the song but loved it.
Best reaction Harri. Cheers from Canada
😊😊🎶🎶🤗🤗🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hi Mary! 🖤😀
That was so much fun to see your joyful spontaneous reaction Harri. Thanks for making my day. You're the best. 🎶🎶👍👍🤗🤗🇨🇦🇨🇦
This song was written & performed by a member of Aussie 70s band Sherbet. "Howzat" means "how's that", and is a common phrase used in the game of cricket when a batsman is bowled out. The songwriter changed the meaning to talk about a man's reaction to finding out his girlfriend was cheating on him.
Mate I am happy you found a childhood memory at last, Sherbet were a band i also grew up loving here in Australia and they had a lot of great hits as well. Darryl Braithwaite went on too a huge solo career with some wonderful songs, he is such a lovely man also which makes his success even sweeter for us here.
Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🎅🤶🎄🎄
Also Harri, our cricket players have always yelled " HOW'S THAT " When a wicket might have fallen. Love it !
One of the best songs of all time...Sherbet were an amazing and very underrated Aussie Band,....they have plenty of other great songs as well,,,,
For some reason this song is synonymous with Viv Richards and the West Indies Cricket team World Series Cricket tour of Australian in 1975-76. I think it may have been used as a promotional sound track to footage of the master blaster smacking hapless bowlers all around the ground.
It was used to promote the Cricket matches. " Howzat" became the term used when a batsman smacked the ball hard to reach the edge of the field or was caught out by someone on the field, bowled, and wickets taken out!!
I had an Australian cricketer boyfriend back in the 90s and I learned from him that it’s something they say in cricket when they do a fast bowl.
@@carouselcakes6237 Yes but more specifically 'Howzat!' is an appeal to the umpire by the bowler that the batsman is out. Slow bowlers can also make the appeal. 'How is that' is typically called in the scenario where a batsman may be out for leg before wicket (LBW) but sometimes a catch when the batsman snicks the ball. Sometimes also for stumpings and run-outs.
@@philipandrew1626 Thanks, I wasn’t 100% sure but knew it was cricket related. 👍
@@carouselcakes6237 Only if they get someone out or hit a sixer..
That was PRICELESS. like finding an old long lost friend..
During lockdown I went through the top 100 songs of every year from 1970 to 1980 to search for my favourite songs from my teens, and stumbling across ones I'd forgotten about was awesome. I had the same reaction as you did with this song when I heard them again. I saved them to a playlist on here so I'd never lose them again 😄
OMG I am so happy for you Harri. Amazing when you find an old song that you loved.💞
Pleasure to see your delight at finding this,it's a song I haven't heard in years myself.
Your reaction is priceless! Thank you very much.
I have had the same. Some songs I could not remember but then stumble upon them. It is relief and joy.
You made my day
Genuine joy from music
Howzat for the the best reaction ever

💜🎶💜🎵
This is a really cool song! Thanks for turning me on to it! I am gonna lobby my band to cover this.
Haha! Great reaction Harri! I saw Sherbet live in ‘74 before this was released but they were still huge at the time. I wasn’t a big fan, I did have their Slipstream album but they went a bit poppy after that. I preferred Skyhooks (if Sherbet was the Beatles of Australia in the ‘70’s, Skyhooks were the Rolling Stones). Having said that Sherbet did have some massive hits down here.
Fabulous, friend! Thank you so very much for sharing! This was a gift to us all.
one of Australia’s best bands with the late great Harvey James on lead guitar♥️🇦🇺♥️
Thanks mate, just brought back memories of a kid in Australia in the 70's. Pure joy.
Love ❤❤❤ love your reaction 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!
Classic pop from Aussie 70s band Sherbet. I was 7 when this song came out. Loved it then & still do.
I am a big fan of Sherbet, thanks to the persistence of my aunts throughout the 70s. I always feel that way when I hear 'Summer Love'. I learned to drum with Sherbet hits as my backing tracks.
I love how happy it made you when you realized you had found your lost song. That's awesome, bro!
Howzat? (How's that?) was what a cricketer (usually the bowler) would call out to the umpire when they believed they had gotten the batsman out.
my reaction to your reaction- howzatt - no apologies Hari - pure joy
Hahahaha
Harri pls do a reaction to Bob Dylan song right connection to my heart - it’s most underrated but wish you would do it anyways - thanks!
I’ve never seen you so excited Harri 😂 so glad you found it!! Your joy made my day I love it ❤
Lisa, that makes me happy to hear😀🖤
This is why I say firm in my convictions. There simply is no other art or creative art form that can stir the soul, can make passion or tears or joy, can evoke a memory like music. Not TV, movies, books, art, dance, you name the form. No other can touch the enduring power of music. NONE.
Exactly the same here: i "found back"" Sherbet / Howzat recently. So happy. In my head since the 70's, but i never knew the name of the song or band. The joy to hear back AND to see the visual is SO good.
Never a need to apologize for appreciating music. If it's not bringing out emotions, it's not worth listening to. Most of the enjoyment in watching this is to see your honest unfiltered reaction, and to see such joy expressed is beyond awesome.
I'm very happy for you brother! I too have been searching for a song from age 14 or 15 and have been unsuccessful so far.
Do you have any lyrics? Maybe you can be helped by many here
