    Any idea, why it is called a "3rd generation" NGS technology in this clip? This can only be meant chronologically because it appeared much later than Illumina & co. However, I'd argue that 3rd generation involves significant technological improvements like long read sequencing or direct sequencing (to detect modifications). I don't see why BGISEQ would qualify as 3rd gen in this sense (unlike PacBio or ONT).

      BGI. They bought Complete Genomics, who invented it. Search "BGISEQ".
